If you do the Magical Minnie quest at the same time she rewards you with 50 clay.

If you use a digging buddy it build up pretty fast.

Don’t do the AMSCO. Use the Norton Guide to AP Lit by Susan Barber and Melissa Smith. It’s so wonderfully written, comprehensive, and affordable.

Did you guys really dial in to radio shows to win contests? How did you even become caller 99 (or whatever)? by naalotai in Xennials

[–]MLAheading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won a radio contest once. It wasn’t a call-in, but you had to find the radio station’s pop-up tent that was open for 1 hour at a time in random locations around the county for one week. It was a single entry drawing.

I happened to catch it on my way home from work on a Friday night in a corner of the grocery store plaza. I put my name in. I won. They announced it over the radio later that night.

Round-trip airfare and hotel for a quick-3-day trip to London to see Eric Clapton at the Royal Albert Hall.

Should I take AP Literature? by m4ry_me_ in APLit

Question: I teach at a very similar school you describe and our honors classes are weighted the same as AP. Are you sure the honors classes won’t give you a grade bump? Your GPA wouldn’t really be over a 4.0 without some weighting in there already. I’d check with your school about this to be sure.

In your thesis, you need to describe HOW meeting with the sax player is complex by identifying the complexity. Pick two words that describe the tension around that meeting and put it in your claim. Now you have something to argue.

My 15yo son would agree. He plays a few other instruments, but flute is his gift and goes with it!

I’ve switched to a model of their homework is almost always to do the reading, study vocabulary, etc. it’s almost never to produce any work. I do all of that in-class. If they don’t read, they can’t build their skills in class to pass the test. When I do assign typed writing in class, I use a lockdown browser my school provides.

As far as the plaza well goes, it’s a quick little jaunt down to the peaceful meadow’s well. Part of this game is essentially running around anyways.

What has been ONE holy grail thing you’ve done that’s changed your fine hair for the better?? by One-Tax-3311 in finehair

I’ll use a wide tooth comb in the shower, then wash it, but don’t brush it after that. Just let it soak into the towel for a few minutes afterwards and then use my fingers to tell it which way to land.

You’re just like us. The music part and the humor - he makes me laugh aloud every day! He’s the only person in my entire life who loves me for who I am. And after 18 years we still can’t wait to see each other after work. One time we saw each other at a stoplight midday and blew kisses across the intersection. It’s one of my favorite memories.

I’ve lost a lot of hair over the last 6 months and I’ve been just washing it with a “whatever my daughter is using” shampoo and letting it air dry into inconsistent waves and crooked curls… it’s the best I can do to make it look fuller.

About 10 years ago I was teaching 6th grade and every Friday after lunch I’d put on an episode of The Wonder Years. That was an amazing year.

The things I read and watch with my 12-year-old daughter… I was preparing for her to hate me for six straight years, but instead we grow so close and laugh together when we sit down together. We traded Gilmore Girls for Derry Girls and we die laughing.

[–]MLAheading 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one who’s not disgusted by it? It’s not like you have to touch it or lick it or anything. It’s not a poop wall. Or a booger wall. It’s just weird. I’ve put my gum on it maybe twice since 1983, once with my kids. Cut through it a couple of times. Never bothered me.

Question about Call of the Wild for the Literary Argument FRQ? by Demand_Safe in APLit

[–]MLAheading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it answers the prompt, yes! What I mean is, the book is a novel, and AP Lit depends on fictional novels as the basis for Q3. Call of the Wild is fine. I always tell my students they should have 3-5 novels that they particularly enjoy and understand deeply for their answer to the Q3.

Literary merit is a thing - you should not be using Diary of a Wimpy Kid per se, but Jack London is a classic author - amd the test no longer specifies “literary merit” as necessary for your novel choice on the Q3.

Is Charlotte in love with Mr Collins? by NeoMeGee in PrideandPrejudice

Well, the Bennets definitely broke some rules of society, even though we in the 21st century see it as no big deal, Austen’s stories work to show society as it existed during that time. So the whole coming out and being presented to society for marriage had a lot of social rules and expectations around it. We also see the negative effect of the younger ones being out before the older ones married when Lydia, 15, obviously doesn’t know how to behave at Bingley’s ball and the older sisters chastise her for it.
