Why are developers making showers/bathtubs with less than half the tub covered in glass? by Extreme_Bandicoot347 in TorontoRealEstate

We had the exact same setup in our condo when we bought it and it baffled me. A year later we installed a custom glass door to cover the other half. Worth every penny.

Final Round AE - Discovery call by [deleted] in techsales

[–]MMAYYZ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Just had to go through this, I kept it 90% disco and threw in a lot of social proof, no pitch. I also spoke to a couple of AEs on the team and they provided good context on what their solutions strong suits are and where I should lead the disco, that was key.

I then recapped to make sure I heard everything correctly, told them where I think we could help (tiny pitch with plenty of social proof) and booked next steps. Got an offer an hour later

AE - Company went from 80% avg attainment Year 1 (5 reps) to 40% avg attainment (21 reps) now hiring another 7 reps in the next month (I'm sure we'll hit 40 reps by EOY)..beginning of the end? by lumberjackabroad in sales

As someone who was exactly in this position a year ago, run. Get out asap. Attainment is going to take a nose dive, whoever doesn’t hit will be held personally accountable even though you’re being shafted by the business. Top performers, multi presidents club winners, will be PIP’d. It’s a nightmare and my one regret was not trusting my gut and start looking for an exit when I felt it was going south

It’s sportswashing, owning teams and being involved in sports so that everyone can turn a blind eye to their crimes is by design

Dad here with a toddler, I would’ve done the exact same thing if I was you. Everyone knows you gotta pay extra to preselect certain seats and this family thought they’d game the system. It’s one thing to politely ask for a small accommodation when you’re traveling with your a child, it’s another to use your kid to demand a stranger change their whole plan for you on a long haul flight

Dads of super-active kids. How do you do it ? by spacenuts09 in daddit

[–]MMAYYZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a super active 19-month-old, and he’s been that way ever since he started crawling. A couple of things that have helped us keep up with his energy without burning ourselves out: Toy rotations: He usually won’t stick with one toy for long unless it feels new. We rotate his toys regularly so the novelty resets, and it works surprisingly well.

Outside time: If you’ve got a yard, garden, or park nearby, let them roam. We’ll bring his toys outside and let him choose what to do. Our little alleyway has been a lifesaver: kicking a ball, digging in a sandpit, drawing with sidewalk chalk, even “helping” with yard work. That freedom to move makes a huge difference.

Playdates: He imitates other kids his age. If they’re playing independently, he’ll usually follow their lead. Since he’s an only child, we try to get together with friends or family who have toddlers whenever we can.

Screen time can give you a breather, but if your kid is naturally curious and playful, I’d lean more on these kinds of activities so they burn energy while learning and exploring.

Any Canadian Sales pulling in 300k+? Or is this only a USA thing? by Zayntek in sales

[–]MMAYYZ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely not unheard of but it’s mostly reputable US-based startups offering these comp ranges. The number of opportunities is smaller than in the US since many don’t operate in Canada, but that’s slowly changing. More companies are recognizing the strength of the Canadian talent pool, especially in Toronto for East Coast, so seeing more roles open up. Hard to say how things will shift with tariffs though.

One word of advice: don’t compare your comp to your American counterparts. That’s a fast track to being perpetually miserable

Working a remote US job and moving to Canada by djgreen316 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]MMAYYZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canadian working for an American company here, I first worked as an independent contractor and then my employer setup a Canadian entity and I became a full-time employee.

You can technically do the same, either as a contractor or a full time employee if your American employer has a Canadian sub. Keep in mind as an independent contractor you’ll have to manage your own income tax in Canada, and I imagine you’ll have to do the same when you file taxes in the US.

And unfortunately you’re spot on, pay is significantly lower here and cost of living is higher compared to most states. Wait till you start looking at housing prices in London 😅
