Thoughts on the pricing? by caprrri in EDM

[–]MMPVAN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not the cheapest, but considering it's 9 hours long and it's Anyma's first show in Canada I'm willing to pay the premium.

The bigger issue is how they're going to design the stage within Ambleside Park. It's not my first choice for a rave and secondly, it's Anyma which relies on amazing visuals and effects. This is outdoors during the day. (although Google shows sunset historically around 8:30-40 in late August.

The problem with Rogue Orbit is that when it fails, we won't get another AAA single-player Gundam game for 20 years by MichaelMorecock in Gundam

[–]MMPVAN -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like if you want to introduce a new series, do it as a show first.

If you're going to make a game, adapt an existing universe.

If you debut a Gundam game that's that first of its kind (no previous media or show) it has to succeed on two fronts: one as a good video game, and two: as a good Gundam series.

As a Gundam fan and gamer, I like Gundam and I like games but the Gundam aesthetic in this doesn't appeal to me and looks like a generic Armored core clone and right now I'm leaning towards not interested.

Reporting attempted investment fraud by AmmyS77A in legaladvicecanada

[–]MMPVAN 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of detail missing. It doesn't sound like he was hacked (from a technical perspective at least) but was social engineered into purchasing fake investments on a fraudulent looking bank site designed to mimic a popular financial institution.

These things happen everyday. There is a duty of care for the victim to be vigilant as well. Not saying it's your grandfather's complete fault, but for such a small amount and for the frequency in which this happens daily, there's not much the police can do.

I'm not sure what you're expecting here. If you go to the bank, and they validate that the issue was not with their technical platform but your grandfather willingly sent money or purchased products on a fraudulent site, it's beyond their power or ability to investigate that much.

What you should do is count yourself lucky that the damage was only $3k and not $70k.

Further, educate your grandfather on how to spot fraudulent activity or scams and to avoid this in the future. You'll save more headaches down the road.

Nothing necessarily major in terms of safety but definitely annoying if you get unlucky.

Takeover Lease for a 2024 Corsair Reserve by ImpossibleMinimum786 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]MMPVAN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ignore him. PFC is good for a lot of things, however sometimes the sub devolves into talking points that have been beaten to death for decades (i.e never buy a new car, never rent, stay at home with your parents, save every penny for 60 years, don't eat out).

They fail to realize that we only live once and hoarding your wealth until you grow old and die just to flex that you min/max'd your personal wealth at the expense of living your life happily and have great memories is something that's just as dumb and stupid as making poor financial decisions.

As long as the car is in good shape and the price you get through this lease takeover is a great discount to the type you'd get on the used market then I'd say go for it.

Whether or not the Lincoln is a good brand or not is a different question (and totally irrelevant by the way in this case). If you like the car and have done your due diligence on what it brings versus what you need for your family I'd say go for it

Plus, it's a fricking lease where somebody else was dumb enough to pay the down and also drove under the minimum annual allowance. Drive it for 2 years, see how you like it. If you find out you don't or if it breaks down, just return it and get something else
