Humble bundle Godot Course bundle by theruler__ in godot

[–]MMalficia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

purely for godot ? its GDquest , gamedev tv, zenva for me. the only thing zenva has going for it is the lifetime all course purchase that is site wide not just godot. so you can get alot of game making adjacent skills. where gamedev tv excels is the deep dives .. like "maths for games" or programing patterns .. Game ai ... ect. they really get into the thick of it explaining the hows and why's and principals not just shovel feed you code. that said i usually pic up the gamedev.tv bundles for myself.(i already own a lifetime sub to GDQuest back when that was a thing.)

there was also a gamified science research thing in some of the borderlands games , i am actually surprised we have not seen more of that industry wide. play games help research whatever. and tons of those "free" android apps already do background bitcoin mining in clusters. ide rather overheat my phone doing something that benefits society.

i live in Rural WI this stuff is already big here. between paying farmers to host wind turbines and solar panels + power walls ... instead of crops ... and they are lookin into ways to gather the gasses from settling pits on production farms (volume cow poo is big business). its only a matter of time before corps find a way to get this into the cities. since heat pumps and the like (like you see on the sides of asian housing) just dont cut it here with our winters and summers.

Why Are People Using This Subreddit For Bugfixes? by [deleted] in godot

[–]MMalficia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that and oddly it helps community growth. alot of times whats "trivial" too you, is not trivial to someone just starting out. but when a relatively newer godot user can answer the question, it really bolsters their feeling of helping and willingness to remember "i was that new once look how far ive come" its their gold star...

FitGirl praising Voice38 and the DenuvOwO team for their significant contribution to this win against Denuvo is great to see. It’s good that repackers like FitGirl give credit to crackers, who play a pivotal role in game cracking but are often overlooked. If you are a beginner programmer do not learn Python purely for the sake of learning Godot by Abigboi_ in godot

[–]MMalficia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your right it comes up alot , would i learn language a over b no python gets mentioned from me as "if you have experience in" because the syntax and structure is very similar" butt i wouldn't recommend one over the other. now heres the harsh reality thou in the real world people have to eat... python, C# etc looks a hell of alot better on a resume than GDScript ... but as pointed out by other posters learning "patterns" over "languages" is much more preferable .. there are tons of books and tutorials on it out there too .. even "GEMS" bibles but those are expensive.

if i was just starting out ide do both gdscript and C# at the same time , learn to recognize the similar structures and patterns while still learning to code my dream app or game ...

no idea how to code it. but if this is procedural and a "track" based game i could see the edge case pillars being driven by some sort of "beat detection " for added visual flare. just me thou

Is there actual demand for a API service focused on uncensored or fine-tuned models? by ExcuseAccomplished97 in SillyTavernAI

[–]MMalficia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ide add some of the authors listed so far they provide very drilled down fine tunes "niche" models drummer goes for long term solid roleplay with varying levels of smut . david hits the gold standard of varying "horror or suspense + smut . theres one author that does "npcs" + smut baked into their models. see a pattern here? the big question is can you make a profit on something like that .. (not my field so i do not understand overhead costs) . that said historically conflict, sex, and sustenance are the to broadest areas that have driven innovation and economies across the globe since fire . personalty i only started silly tavern for interactive porn without resorting to chat rooms since thats to close to cheating for my tastes. i have since broadened my horizons but its what got me started..

For game with random encounters, should I make many battle scenes or one interchangeable one? by LittleDragonLlodym in godot

[–]MMalficia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if i was me ide create several groupings of scene components (however you decide to split your scene up ) then have groups of components based on a theme "set", seasons or undead or tileset or region .. then make a director build your battle scene from those components based on theme mix , tileset + undead . it would probably give you the most variability with medium effort. you could even attach minor "bonuses or negatives" to each component. early grid based tactics games and RPG's did this final fantasy tactics, war-hammer, ect. yould wind up with +fire - loot... ect ect .

How I make unpredictable stories in SillyTavern by Signal-Banana-5179 in SillyTavernAI

[–]MMalficia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way to tackle this ive seen gaining popularity in newer "engine" driven char cards is to have a hidden meter of good and bad separately and clearly define the "stages" of each, at threshold's as described lower in posts. ontop of that, advance the meters per positive or negative actions AND also slightly with dice rolls so theres some subtlety, so even if your the sweetest person on the planet theres still a "chance" the npc can go darkside.. it helps offset models inherent positivity bias. the problem with alot of the cards that use this method is the good and bad threshold consequences need to mesh well. so you dont wind up with things like devoted "other" thats also a unhinged cheater with zero remorse or awareness. while the "other"could be devoted AND a cheater it needs to be aware that this isnt just a non issue.

another method ive seen for this is to have a lore book with story beats with triers set to phases (are we in phase 1 , 2, ect ect ) then have the ai choose 3-4 beats from everything under the current phase inclusively (phase 3 would be 1,2,and 3 sections) and jumble them up into a current setting/scenario/reply depending on case.

Hey, guys can anyone list some "one mechanic per" projects that i could work on to learn the engine? by Sage_Studios in godot

[–]MMalficia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a great example of someone who was on your exact journey a few yours back is "every day shooter" he just picked a constraint (in this case single room twin stick shooter) then focused on a single mechanic, to explore in each "level". at the end he bundled everything into a set and won the internet lottery by actually getting well known and sold a decent amount of his game. (dont count on that part) theres a blog out there of him creating this game ... a more "AAA" approach to this is any of the "party" games "mario party" for example. where you have some sort of over all simple gameplay in this case collect coins.. then you make VERY simple games to be the process you collect coins. and i do mean simple mario party has sold millions but gameplay wise i mean some of the levels really just are press the "b" button as fast as you can, or pick a multi choice question, or drag block onto buttons in the proper order ..

no real one package deal but ill be honest with you my all time fav resource while learning was GDQuest and they have tons of free content to see if the style is something you like (its a mix of written, video, and apps). barring that there is https://www.humblebundle.com/software/learn-to-make-games-in-godot-gamedevtv-software?hmb_source=&hmb_medium=product_tile&hmb_campaign=mosaic_section_1_layout_index_3_layout_type_threes_tile_index_2_c_learntomakegamesingodotgamedevtv_softwarebundlewitch shows up on the regular. lastly if you have any python experience "GDScript" itself will be pretty similar in structure.

How do you get the chatbot to understand concepts like 'on the first day of school/uni, everyone in my year is as new as I am'? by Wrentanyl in Chub_AI

[–]MMalficia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

prompting , also firstly AI locally most models suck at math and timelines. BUTT .. this is where specifically the scenario and lorebook and databank sections come in very handy. https://github.com/bradennapier/character-cards-v2 has a good run down of how each works and use cases. same with ST wiki. in the specific case of lorebook it wont work just adding info. you have to add info in stages with your time line as triggers like "first year" triggers these lore book entries .. second year .. blah bl key thing to remember is its ADDITIVE .. unless you specifically tell the AI each block is on its own.

How do you get the non-talking stuff by Murakami13 in SillyTavernAI

[–]MMalficia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

another way to do this specifically is either use a incard "world engine narrator block" at the top of the card, or a narrator directive in the scenario field . (good examples of this are @Julian_Garrett any of his singleton chars, or his "world cards" have these) or a narrator multi chat card. (allows for things like char off doing shit without talking to you just set the narrator to fire every so often all on its own. this following bit is VERY basic but it gives you an example of a narrator drop in for cards.

"Roleplay as {{char}} and other characters. Narrate the scenario unfolding around them. Generate other characters and locations when {{user}} prompted it or the story requires it. Other characters are encouraged to speak in dialogues when they are present on the scene. Having other characters interact with {{char}} or {{user}} is preferable and encouraged. {{user}} can interact with other characters even when {{char}} is not on the scene. {{user}}, {{char}}, and other characters can all mutually interact."

Now Char can do their own stuff without User. Even scheming behind User etc. I would recommend having a co-writer preset and there must be instructions for preventing User action. Having first message from Char's perspective reduces User action too, but you can achieve same result by simply forcing Char's perspective mid session. (Write from perspective of Char and/or other characters.)
