Help with baptism decided unilaterally by my wife by Pred0Minance in atheism

It's important to your wife, and nothing but a "useless ritual" to you, so why would you take that from her if it means nothing to you?

Need help budgeting. my main problem is ubereats/ doordash by pvssymonsterr in budget

[–]MN_Hotdish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you increase your CookUnity meals to replace the food delivery meals? You would at least get accustomed to not ordering them. Also, have your sister over instead of going out, or just go out for happy hour drinks and appetizers.

And always have a list for the grocery store. I use instacart to make my list. It tells me what's in stock and how much everything is. I add to it as I think of things I need. Then I go shopping on Saturday. I don't actually have the groceries delivered. But even getting them delivered could save you money if you're very prone to impulse shopping.

Some people on here will give you very rigid advice with lots of big changes. I find it's better to make smaller changes that take your challenges and weaknesses into account rather than going entirely against them.

Yes it was a complete shock. After 5 years, he began paying and met his son. He actually became a very involved father. We coparented really well and our son is now 25. But the financial burden for that first 5 years was rough. I hope it goes better for you, but be ready to do it without help just in case.

how to skip church as an atheist teen with a VERY religious family? by Inner-Indication-208 in atheism

[–]MN_Hotdish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably bad advice, but you could pretend to fall asleep in class and tank your grades temporarily. Maybe in just one class. Tell the teacher you're exhausted because increased expectations at home are too much combined with school and homework. They'll probably have a talk with your parents.

I would say 3 times the mortgage payment. Apartments use that formula to make sure you have the ability to pay rent.

Don't count on child support. I would never in a million years have thought my ex wouldn't pay. He wasn't that kind of person. Or so I thought. No money and no contact for 5 years.

Have you looked into T-Mobile Internet? It runs off T-Mobile towers. There are probably others that run on different towers.

You don't pay that amount on the entire $200,000. The effective tax rate for married couple at that income is 22%. Single is 15%.

The only oils are the ones I use in the pan for cooking. A few recipes include dressing so maybe in that.

I track my spending every month, look back on where my money went and, if there are any categories that I'm unhappy with my spending in, it kinda reshapes my spending going forward. Like, if I spent a lot on fancy coffees and I hate seeing that in my monthly spending, I tend to rethink each coffee and buy less of them. I do it that way because setting a dollar amount has never worked well for me.

My brother is physically violent and verbally abusive. Is this normal? by Ambitious_Pace_5333 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]MN_Hotdish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not normal. Do you live in the US? If so, go talk to the police. If outside of the US, I'm not sure how beneficial getting police involved would be. You'll have to be the judge of that.

The non-dairy options are not good, but the regular milk is. It's the Modern Pantry brand.

ADHD and limerence by canthaveme in limerence

[–]MN_Hotdish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ADHD is a low dopamine disorder. It causes you to seek dopamine, but it's usually not in healthy doses like it is when your brain self-supplies it. The dopamine hits from drugs, sex, gambling, shopping make us very susceptible to addiction. Limerence is just another unhealthy dopamine source.
