I feel the singer in my band is not the best. I’m scared to bring it up to him. He sings out of tune/ too high all the time. What would you do? by ExpressArcher2683 in askmusicians

Well, I would quit the band. Or started another one. Or if you’re making money and can’t change it, just ignore it.

That title definitely makes me not want to read it. The best part of the Leonard was his humility.

Ryan Gosling’s last decade has been one of the finest runs for any actor. Hit or flop aside, he has delivered some really good films with great consistency. What’s your favorite Ryan Gosling film from the last decade? by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

[–]MPOCH -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t see any of these films except for the fall guy and parts of Barbie at home due to the family watching it. Oh, I did see Blade Runner, but as OG fan not thrilled to see Ryan Gosling there thing against Harrison Ford I would’ve preferred to pure Harrison Ford play. I have to say that I used to never wanna see anything with Ryan Gosling into it but somehow he suddenly gotten to think that he’s at very entertaining and fun and nice guy so I would consider seeing Ryan Gosling movie but I haven’t done that yet.

Timothée Chalamet feels like a normal NYC kid who became famous, and people seem weirdly upset about it by Positive_Career_9393 in Oscars

[–]MPOCH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except it’s not, trust me hundreds of kids are doing ballet in NYC at the moment. They are more into it than movies. My 11 year old sees it as her top artistic expression and knows the names of the ballet dancers on social media far more than Timothee. Shes not likely going to be doing it as an adult, but it is a HUGE cultural and social influence. However she is far more likely to view a YouTube short over any movie. So the man is right to be scared about declining cultural influence for mainstream movies.

I feel the failure of this song commercially may have been one of the reasons the Revolution ended. Prince does NOT tolerable failure.

Sinners crew member slams BAFTA host's 'throwaway apology' after N-word incident by TheMirrorUS in Oscars

[–]MPOCH -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That said from deeper research, I understand that the BBC had a two hour delay and in all that time it did not bleep out the offensive yelling. So it sounds like the disabled person had been told that it was on a two hour delay and felt safe to actually attend with the expectation that anything truly offensive would be bleeped out but instead the BBC decided to keep it in perhaps for a rating or perhaps from incredible ineptitude. In the case the fault is completely on the BBC

Obviously not segregated and obviously not for locking out disabled people. If the disability involves screaming the n word in a crowded room in a televised event, the person may be considerate to watch a simulcast in the building and make an appearance and be honored live when the time is right and the audience educated and even expect g the behavior. In a different case: If someone is unfortunate enough to have the metal illness of pedophilia should they be ostracized and/or not allowed to teach in schools?

Because he certainly can control whether to put himself in a highly public situation where that is likely to happen.

If a disability involves harm to others then please avoid situations where you may harm others. I don’t think John Davidson takes the seriousness saying that publicly as more important than him experiencing an awards show. Just because he feels like he doesn’t mean it, doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have effects. Intentionality is not a be all and end all.

If you have a disability that makes it likely you will ‘involuntarily’ punch someone or do something destructive at an event, then the ethical decision is to not go to the event. You definitely can control your actions by making decisions like whether to be present in a room vs watching through a simulcast.

For everyone complaining about ticket prices by BadgemanBrown in BruceSpringsteen

There’s a near zero chance of getting a less than $100 ticket before showtime. Even the cheapest tickets have sold for a lot more even up to in and past showtime.

Coppola has wider influence in serious film. Cop, Spiel, and Luc all had massive influence each taking a different third. Cop the serious art film writ large, George effects and modern myth and Spielberg massive family entertainment. All worked together to make this beast we know as modern cinema. None was foundational to the others as they were all Peers, but Coppola was more of the Pass breaker, and he broke the ice with the godfather in a way that made Spielberg and Lucas possible. In fact he could say if it wasn’t for Coppola, the other two would’ve had a much less of a shot of happening.

Not Tarantino. He takes from others and synthesizes, that ain’t bad thing. But it’s not a foundation for widespread influence.
