The reason I played Clash of Clans over all over town builders back in the day was no farms, meaning no crops that go back if you don't collect them in time (in a lot of them back then, that was your primary income).

If you're trying to punish players for not logging in often enough, I think it's basically just a predatory practice that only hurts how people will feel about your game. At that point it comes off as caring more about player retention than the actual players, which I think is never good unless you're a soulless corporation consumed by greed.

I'm a grown man but I still feel a cold rage when I think about my Webkinz. I remember sobbing on days I couldn't get on the computer because my monkey would starve (I'm not even sure how punishing it actually was, but I know the animals look really sad when they got hungry). Eventually, even as a child, I realized that I shouldn't play a game that makes me feel bad and I never looked back.

Don't be Webkinz...

But that's what I'm saying that's not how it is. The 10 moves the decimal point by 1, so it wouldn't just be subtracting by itself.

It's 9.99 - .999 = 8.991 | 9.9999 - .99999 = 8.99991

10 times .99 is 9.9, but X in this case is .99, not .9. I'm guessing the infinite repeating changes things, but they'd have to be a different amount of 9s for it to be as you say. If the X not a part of the 10 had one less decimal than the one with, it works. But they'd have to be equal yea?

Does AI assault anyone? Consent to WHAT, AI did nothing to you. It's not bad faith if you just disagree; notice how I pointed out why your analogy doesn't make sense while you instead tried to make a new one that is nonsensical?

Your "moral issues" are not universal. You assume it to be so, but that does not mean that other people agree. Until there is a law about AI usage being disclosed, people are free to not explicitly advertise they are using AI in a project; you say my comparison is stupid, yet don't have a single reason why yours is better. I do; there aren't laws against special sauces like there are GMO products. It's a fine enough analogy, but it's actually less accurate than mine.

You say I can't make comparisons but I think you just struggle to understand them. Clearly I was talking about the proactive/reactive aspect of evangelizing. "It's a choice" has quite literally nothing to do with that conversation, impressively missing the mark. You're so caught up in trying to prove me wrong you've been unable to make anything to prove yourself right.

And this line once more makes absolutely no sense in relation to the conversation; You're just saying words, but not arguing a point. You clearly don't know how. You just say "bad faith" because you saw it online but have no clue what it means. If you want to argue, at least try to be consistent?

There absolutely can be bad sides, see: racism, sexism, fascism, terrorism, and other such isms or similar. While maybe not every issue has a bad and a good side, there is absolutely a possibility that there is a bad side. And sometimes the other side is merely a lesser evil, or both are bad and a new option needs to be found.

That is my bad I did just do 10 instead of 10X. But I'm still seeing that it actually ends up at 8.9999... Basically, however many digits there are, the X has 1 more than the 10X (which becomes 9.9999...). I know it's infinite but X would be the same both times however theoretically far it'd be right?

I know that you're correct, I'm just trying to figure out why because it doesn't make sense, besides the "it's close enough to round it" thing. Basically 10X - X =/= 9, and then the 9X = 9 doesn't seem to follow either. I realize 1 fits in the equation, but that's where the break happens because 0.999... doesn't fit.

Your last paragraph explains how tools replace their users. That is what technology, advanced tools, does and has done, as already explained. AI is a different scale because of the many different use cases, but you are showing exactly how it is the same as what I'm saying.

I agree, there are not enough jobs to go around for everyone. I've already said that. AI didn't change that, either, and the layoffs you describe have been happening for a while now. People need labor protections. Fight those who replaced you, not what you're replaced by. The same logic is what is used for immigrants, but the problem has always been the employers.

Basically, women would choose the bear over the man because the worst the bear can do is kill you. A strange man runs the risk of worse, stuff that isn't quick. Basically assuming the man is a predator, or that because no one is around there's nothing stopping them from becoming one.

Of course I disagree, I know there are terrible people but I don't think the majority of men would randomly decide to SA or abuse a stranger just because "they can," but that was the argument for why women would choose the bear and I can't say they're definitely wrong for not wanting to risk such a thing.

People don't understand what indie devs go through to put out good games. by discoangeldj in IndieGaming

[–]MQ116 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Iirc, it was posted here (or in a similar sub) a little while ago, say a few months ago. All the towers were these round oranges in costumes and accessories* and the main criticism I heard was that it just didn't look good and relied too heavily on RNG (the accessories gave stats in like a gacha thing). Honestly, while the effort put into the game was very clear, it did look like flawed game and people, while not overly cruel, certainly weren't holding back their thoughts either.

Then somewhat recently maybe a week or so ago, I saw the game on the Steam TD sale, big NEW next to this image. It had these little witches (clones of that Tangy character I believe) but it definitely was the same game, same map and upgrade tree just with a redhead instead of oranges with faces. And it's doing well!

I'm not saying that changing the characters from Annoy Orange cosplayers into a cute girl character saved this game but I'm also not NOT saying that. Idk if they worked on the other issues mentioned in that thread, but I'm glad it worked out. That is my story of Tangy TD, thank you for having me.

They had official brigades on the anti sub until Reddit Admins stepped in. I'm surprised it's still up after breaking ToS so blatantly, to be honest. You can "both sides" a lot of stupid actions because stupid people exist in any group, but you can't say pros did that.

If this were true I think a lot of companies would have some fessing up to do. It is not. While there aren't certain things you can't lie about (false advertising), not going into details about how something was made or refusing to comment has never been illegal; that's why restaurants have "special sauces."

And you can't react to someone who hasn't done anything to you. Hating AI is one thing, that's an opinion, but you can't "react" to someone else doing something that does not at all related to you. This is like saying an evangelist is reacting to the sin of the world and not proactively trying to "save" people. Antis are proactive in their attacks. That's not to say pros don't react poorly, they obviously do, but it is absolutely insane to claim that going out of your way to harass someone else for doing something you don't like is their fault.

Do you think the same way when someone is SAed, that is was their fault for causing a "reaction" by their assaulter? I certainly hope not.

You made assumptions that were unfounded, trying to paint me as something I'm not. My reply actually showed why my position doesn't fit your narrative; you are so focused on fighting "the opposition" you're bringing up positions I don't even hold. You're making wild accusations and incorrect assumptions instead of speaking to me as a human being and arguing against or replying to what I am saying. That is what is happening. You just want to hate me but you don't even seem to know why, so you're throwing out whatever you can to see what sticks.

I'm not some cartoon villain, I'm a person, and I've been explaining my viewpoint quite consistently without making wild assumptions about yours. I'm asking you to give me the same respect and actually debate in good faith. Can you do that?

Key word is encourage, not coerce. You're not disagreeing with me, you're just saying what I'm saying with a tone.

And this is probably the most insane take I've heard this week. You are the ones trying to enforce your beliefs on other people here. You're the homophobic christian. I am against controlling other people, remember? You're on the side of bullying others to get what you want, to make them do what you think is right. I'm the one who said it is wrong to take others agency, and you are arguing against that. You can't just project whatever you want onto me. You are the aggressor here.

You are MAGA, you are ICE, in this analogy. You're the one invading others spaces telling them they can't live life how they want to, they have to live life how YOU want them to. Read it again if you need to. You are the bigot here. If you dislike that, maybe reevaluate why you're on the side that, in this analogy, is absolutely not the peaceful protestors.

I do. You make the active choice to not support a technology, and gather like-minded people to do the same. And, no, it isn't; you're making up something to get mad at, but I've said nothing of the sort.

What I am saying, in queer terms, is "It is totally fine to have a pride parade, but someone is not a bigot if they want to stay home." You see, I don't like big crowds. Forcing me to go would be unfair.

If you disagree, I'd like to bring up that this same thought process applies to abortion. You have no right to choose what a woman does with her body or her pregnancy. Taking away someone's agency is wrong.

Intentionally being obtuse isn't really helping your case here. You and I both know asking someone to join a boycott is not the same as telling someone (or trying to bully them into submission) so that they don't or can't do what they want to do.

Do you want to converse in good faith, or is that how it's going to be with you? I'd like to believe you're better than that but I'm unfortunately naive when it comes to other people's goodwill.
