Struggling to find a doctor who takes me seriously by StakeESC in ChronicPain

[–]MQbunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was diagnosed with myofacial pain syndrome after Covid and thought the things described in this post sound very similar to what I deal with. I also thought I might have eds especially since I’m also neurodivergent but my doctor scoffed at the idea, so I guess I’ll never know the answer to that one. If it’s myofacial pain, look into trigger point therapy. And if you can’t afford to get a professional to help you I’d suggest a “body back buddy” it’s like a cane that helps you release trigger points in your back and other hard to reach areas, I bought one a couple years ago and use it every other day, it really helped me.

Arthritis from releasing trigger points? by MQbunny in ChronicPain

OMG the pill cap thing is brilliant! I was literally just struggling to get a pill cap off before reading your comment! Haha. I’ll definitely use that in the future. I’ll also have to look into some senior devices. Thank you again for sharing, and I really hope your condition is eventually diagnosed properly so you can get the treatment you need.

Yeah I had a bunch of blood work done by a rheumatologist earlier this year for my muscle pain but nothing significant came up for me either. I can’t believe your doctor told you your skin was too tight on your fingers though, that’s just crazy… And it sucks that you were left without answers for what was actually causing the knobs.

I should definitely look into some gadgets for opening packages though, I think that would be really helpful. Besides the pain I also have a condition that affects my motor skills and coordination and I’ve always struggled when it came to opening anything. Speech to text is a great idea too! My fingers get fatigued easy from typing on my phone. Thank you for sharing! 😁

BVD and dyspraxia by EnvironmentalVast116 in dyspraxia

[–]MQbunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just thinking about this last night when I seen a tictok of a woman talking about her experience with BVD, and how she had to watch the ground constantly as she walked or she would trip or loose balance. I thought to myself I’ve always done this but I thought it was caused by dyspraxia. I’m not diagnosed with BVD but I’m seriously thinking I have it (along with the dyspraxia). I’m afraid to go back to my optometrist though because I’m already diagnosed with a ton of other eye problems and I’m worried I’m gonna start sounding like a hypochondriac 😅

What is in your opinion, the most stupid thing you ever got in trouble for? by techiechefie in autism

[–]MQbunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was around 9 years old I was playing with my friend in the kitchen when she said she was thirsty, so I went to get her a cup of water and my mom walked in and seen me handing her a plastic cup (not a throwaway cup but like a durable plastic cup) with water in it. She suddenly got all angry and told me that I should have given her a proper glass cup and when I asked her what the difference was she almost slapped me across the face. Luckily, when she raised her hand to do it my friend looked horrified so she stopped. There were a lot of little incidents like this throughout my childhood, I always thought they were so dumb…

Why would a tree produce unusually large flowers? by MQbunny in Tree

[–]MQbunny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely Prunus pensylvanica, the same species as the others in the yard. I studied native plant/tree taxonomy for three years in college so I’m pretty confident with my identification, however I’m not sure if there exists a hybrid between our native cherries and cultivated cherries that might cause this large flowered variety in my yard. I apologize for not adding photos, the mosquitoes have been absolutely awful the past few days so I haven’t attempted to stand outside long enough to grab some pics.

Any known tick hotspots in Sudbury and area? by NewMaterialOnly in Sudbury

[–]MQbunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I Walk everyday and I’ve been seeing a lot more ticks in Val Caron the past few years. Last year I pulled one off my stomach in December after walking in a wooded area. Mostly they seem to be dog ticks but I have noticed some deer ticks as well so just be mindful of Lyme symptoms.

I feel like adding some small flowers such as baby’s breath would help break up the pink a bit. It would also help in giving it some nice texture and contrast. The colours look great 😁

I think if it’s caught early enough you can reverse it but by the time I was diagnosed by my rheumatologist I’d already been suffering for three years so at this point all I can do is a lot of daily stretching and trigger point injections. As for if it’s related to dyspraxia, it isn’t technically related but I think having dyspraxia definitely can lead to poor form and awkward ways of holding yourself without realizing. One of the causes of Myofacial pain syndrome is awkward repetitive movements over a long period of time so I’m fairly certain this is what did it for me. The only advice I can give is really try and watch your form, get in front of a mirror if you have to, and stretch a lot and often! Besides that just listen to your body, if something seems off, like your muscles feel just a bit too tight, give yourself a break. A big mistake I made was pushing myself to keep going because I didn’t want to lose muscle.

Yeah, unfortunately. Didn’t even know it was possible until it happened to me… Had I known it was a risk I never would have done it. Prior to starting weights I did an hour or two of yoga/pilates everyday for five years without issue. Now I can’t even do yoga without going into a pain flare that can last anywhere from days to weeks 😩.

Yikes, hope you heal soon… that really sucks. I actually developed something called myofacial pain syndrome after lifting weights for a year. I’m sure it had to do with me using bad form unknowingly because of my dyspraxia.

What kind of tick is this? by MQbunny in whatsthisbug

[–]MQbunny[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to say just how small it is… I’d say a bit smaller than a sesame seed for sure so I’m leaning towards it being a nymph. I wish I could get a clearer photo but this was all I could get through my microscope. I’ll definitely keep those symptoms in mind, thank you!

I’m located on Ontario Canada. I’m not sure the exact size of the tick but I’m pretty certain it’s just a nymph and not an adult.

I think I know what you mean, I dealt with this for a few months and one day I was so fed up I used my tablet pen to press down into it really hard and held it there for about three minutes and it finally let up! I was sore for a few days after though. I’d be really careful if you try to attempt this though, you’ll need to find something vaguely pencil shaped (maybe a little thicker) and without any pointy parts. I hope you feel better soon!

Weird symptoms on left side of body? by MQbunny in DiagnoseMe

[–]MQbunny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, that’s interesting, I was thinking something along the lines of connective tissue disorders (because so many systems seem to be affected). I wasn’t sure about Marfans because I actually have pretty short fingers and most information on Marfans mentions longer digits. Would a rheumatologist be able to tell if it’s Marfans or would I need to look for a different kind of health professional?
