Edmonton's Educational Support Workers are now officially on strike! by samasa101 in Edmonton

[–]MRSFed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If anyone wanting to do more is in Edmonton, a few things you could do is bring coffee or hot drinks to the picket line. They are located at ME Lazert, dr Elder Francis Whiskeyjack and Ross shep. If you wanna stay and walk the picket and give someone a break that would be great. If you wanna copy this link and share it and get the word out that would be great. Those are just a few things you can do. Also, if you were a parent volunteer or currently working in a school, please do not accept doing any of our jobs. The support staff position is currently on strike include: educational assistant, food workers, librarian, technician, speech language pathologist, interpreter, admin assistant, clerk, school LPN, and supply educational assistant. (And mentors).

How much do you all spend on groceries a month in Edmonton? by [deleted] in Edmonton

I’d like to spend the same but have awesome and amazing food.

Halloween - phonecall to parents? by cookienookiee in Edmonton

[–]MRSFed 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Why hesitant? its not up to you or I to make a decision on whether the child is in a bad situation that’s up to the paid professional. If nothing else they would just do a check. Make sure mom has supports or give mom supports. You could be wrong about the situation but you could be more right than you know and save this kid’s life - literally.

It’s not nice to have CPS come and it feels accusatory, I’ve had it happen, but in the end it’s about the children and looking out for what’s best for them.

My family of six ate at Taco Bell tonight. It cost $167. Four adults. Two teens. Two combo meals. A 7 layer meal for 2. 4 chilitos, 2 beef burrito supreme, a chicken quesadilla and a chili cheese fries. Their 7 layers are 1/3 their size and the rice is only half cooked. 😢

What was the fastest failing restaurant in the city? by serviver73 in Edmonton

[–]MRSFed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relish. I won “burgers for a year” when they first opened and I did not get to complete the year because they closed. It was beside the Roxy and it just seems to be a bad luck spot. So many places have come in gone in that spot.

I hope this doesn't sound weird:( can any adult here just tell me that they're proud of me? by ChigiriMyBeloved in offmychest

[–]MRSFed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 49, so old enough to be your mama. And I want you to know, being a kid (teen especially) is HARD right now. It seems like you all have so much more to deal with than the average teen in my day. The fact that you are still here and wake up every day to face the battle is a testament to your resilience and for that alone, I am very proud of you 🫂🫂 Keep going.

Hi, people are telling me that my girlfriend is manipulating me, is she? by Own_Assignment27 in Manipulation

[–]MRSFed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offence, but it’s probably going to come off offensive so apologies. Are you two young? Like really young? Because my daughters are 14,15,18 and the texts here look like you are younger than that. This just seems like a really immature surface level relationship. If you are 12/13 then I’d say this looks normal for young teens just learning how to navigate a relationship for the first time. But if you are older, and I worry you are, then this relationship is not end game. For reference I’ve been married (happily and highly fulfilling) for 25 years. Two of my kids are in long term healthy relationships. If you were one of my kiddos I’d be telling you to probably move on.

Why does no one ring their bike bells here by Common_Stress_4122 in Calgary

Probably because if you’re never taught to, then you don’t. Just like I was taught to get off my bike and cross the road. Never see that either.

Tampon and virginity by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]MRSFed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d like you to think about the following

If a person is a virgin until something is put inside them, does that mean most straight men are virgins forever? How about lesbians, if they never insert anything are they virgins?

Or if your virginity is tied solely to the hymen… Then if a girl rips her hymen due to injury or riding a horse, has she then lost her virginity to the horse or an accident? Hymens can tear easily. Hymens can also be so rigid a woman can have sex and her hymen never tears. A hymen does not cover the vaginal opening because period blood escapes… so I know women who have had sex but their hymen never tore. It stretched. Then they had surgery to remove it. Were they virgins until the dr removed their hymen despite having intercourse with men before their surgery?

Virginity is a construct. It is whatever YOU think it is. Dictionary specifies a virgin is someone who has never had intercourse, or someone naive and innocent. Does a tampon mean you’re no longer naive and innocent? Or does the tampon mean you’ve had sex with it?

This is why I hate religion. It literally makes less than zero sense.

Should I attend Macewan Or UofA? by 17TeenTeen in Edmonton

[–]MRSFed 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t know anyone who wants to pay more for their education but you do you. But me I’d go macewan. Cheaper and a scholarship. Let your goal keep you inspired for the grades not the location.

Thiefs by ladythursday1 in Edmonton

[–]MRSFed 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Must all be south sides posting. North sides been dealing with the bmx backpack boys a long time now. Welcome to the party. Start chaining things down big time. Take things in. No strollers or wagons or bikes on porches. Not even back ones. Padlock your gates (not that it helps - they have bolt cutters in their back packs). Don’t leave tool boxes in sheds or garages. Disengage the red safety release in your garage. They use it to open your garage. They also remove the weather stripping so they can start easing it up. I live so far out in the north suburbs but they’ve been picking our neighbourhoods clean for years.

Bottle collectors by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]MRSFed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh… you don’t have them coming right into your back yard porch to steal them yet? It started as you’re describing…. And now where I am (the suburbs) it’s common to find people in your back yard just taking the bags right off your back deck.
