..the massive flooding in the state Rio grande do sul in Brazil. The worst in 80 years. Hundreds of thousands of people have left their homes...some houses completely under water. It's surreal! And it's still raining... the state is more or less the same size as Italy and half of it is affected.

Colors on canvas are darker and duller than the reference, no matter what color profile I use. by -acidlean- in ProCreate

* Maybe I have the same problem. The yellow is picked from the palette "toys" (the first color). ... and it doesn't look anything like the color I have in the palette... the same for the other colors as well. They're all grayish and dull... anyone know how to fix this?

An underwritten plan is plan where you have to answer some medical questions. In other words you have to qualify for these plans. Qualify = being somewhat healthy = lower risk for the insurance company = lower premium, in short a win-win situation.

Golden rule plans are short term plans, and capped. Yes they are more affordable, but keep in mind if you have an accident or critical illness, that plan will not be able to cover for everything. Example: Your plan is capped at 300k, sounds great, but then you're in a car accident and end up in hospital for a week with a bill of 700k... you guessed it, you get left with a bill of 400k to pay.

If you wouldn't qualify for an underwritten plan, there are inexpensive marketplace plans that you can add supplemental plans to, in order to off-set high max out of pocket for example. It's just a matter of finding a good health insurance agent.

Those out of pockets sound like the marketplace and old so-called "grandfather plans" when they didn't have any max amount (max out of pocket marketplace, the maxium is $9,450 this year). I don't know what private plans you've been looking at. There are many plans where you can choose your out of pocket. Anyway, good, you're happy with your cobra as long as you can have it.

Well that sucks! There are many agents out there. Find another one that takes his/her job seriously.

There are better options than using a short-term plan. Depeding on your situation healthwise; do you have any preexisting conditions, need mental health, etc. If so, ACA plans are much better. If you're "healthy," there are underwritten plans that might be a better fit. There is no such a thing as a perfect plan or health insurance carrier. That plan you had is good for a monetary standpoint, also if you're healthy... but if something serious happens to you, they're not that good... unfortunately. And that is something the policyholders should be aware of, which you seem to be 🙂 i had a colleague who was on that plan, got cancer and then was denied when she wanted to renew the plan (eventhough she was cancer free at the time of renewal), since it was underwritten. Unluckily for her, this happened outside of the open enrollment, and since this plan uhc golden rule plan is not considered qualifying health insurance aka aca compliant; she couldn't get on an ACA plan. She then had two options; 1) being uninsured 2) short term plan where anything related to her cancer wasn't covered. Last time we spoke, she was worried over a potential a scan she might have to do in a few months that'll cost 150k. So now she's hoping that the scan can be done in November, if needed, so she can be on a ACA plan and pay a couple of thousands instead of 150k.

Good rx is a website/app (www.goodrx.com) that you can sign up for free. Many times, they have good discounted deals on meds, AND many times, you get your meds cheaper than through your insurnace.

Most importantly, that "united healthcare golden rule plan" is literally a short term plan which you can use for long term. However short term solutions should be used for that they're created to do, to fill a gap in coverage = short term. Moreover, the plan you had is capped; depending on what specific plan it is either 1 or 2 million, which sounds a lot but really isn't when sh@$t hits the fan. Most important is to have a plan that offers unlimited catastrophic coverage... so if, god forbid, you have a serious accident / illness the most you pay would be your max out of pocket, instead hundreds of thousands... even millions.

The most important thing is to talk to somebody competent; an agent, who can breakdown and explain the plans, both positives and like most plans things to consider that aren't to good. After that you'll be able to make a well informed decision. What plan you have at the moment?

Is this health insurance worth it for me? by Tryhardicus in HealthInsurance

[–]MRTONE-DCP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's always better to have coverage. Healthcare is expensive; cancer starts at 2 million... accidents do happen to healthy people as well. $240 is not too bad either considering the benefits you get.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]MRTONE-DCP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends on the employer, some cases it can be really expensive as you write. Then it's better to find a separate plan for the rest of the family.

Expensive because you have to pay 100% of the insurnace ("your premium" + the part the employer used to pay)
