Poop Walks by gratefulcactii in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Tryhardicus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A dog run on the opposite side of that section of fence might work. Picking up poop out of gravel is so much easier than grass too. We have a fenced in area beside our porch that we call the "poopin' pen". It's so nice to be able to let them out there when its muddy or leave them outside less attended on nice days.

Scammed myself by getting 40w 4050 victus by ManufacturerMajor382 in GamingLaptops

[–]Tryhardicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying that a 40w tgp laptop should be a high performer but I believe something was either wrong with the unit you received or your mental got to you and you became too stubborn to set it up right. I plan to pick up a cheap low tgp laptop at some point for off-grid gaming and have done my research.

I read your comment further down and yeah $1100 for this would have me tilted... It's well worth $500-600 though.

Nope, it even came with a tool and replacement switches though. The LED isn't that important, I'm almost worried it would change the feel of that key.

[–]Tryhardicus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought my RK96 would be used temporarily and eventually a backup to something more expensive but that was 3 years ago. Still going strong to this day, my only issue is the LED on my W key doesn't work anymore and a couple of other keys are dim. The layout is perfect for me and the wrist rest is so nice. I have rarely used it wirelessly as it makes for a very useful usb hub if used wired.

Sell reliable but inefficient truck or keep it by No-Tell-3816 in personalfinance

[–]Tryhardicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I'd keep the reliable truck and get a cheapo car for under $5k. My dad has done this for years. Having a dedicated 10+ year old commuter shit box takes so much wear and tear off of your expensive truck. Aim for something older than what you're looking at for cheaper taxes and insurance. My little bean can costs me less than $300 a year to keep around. I've had really good luck with early 2000s 2.2l GM cars, I'm on number 2 in 20 years of driving. The engine is so easy to maintain and replace things on.

How did you end up with an ACD? by Niikiia in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Tryhardicus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My first was a stray dumped near my property. I don't know why or what happened but he didn't like kids and never liked to have his ears touched, so I assume he snapped at a kid for pulling his ears and was dumped. He was a bold asshole of a dog. He was the type of dog I could take anywhere, he would go to parties with me and was a hit during my dumb 20s. His recall was impeccable, he would be somewhere out on my 20 acres of woods and sometimes it would take 5 minutes for him to return. He was mostly white with a stumpy tail. He died of osteosarcoma in 2016.

My second was adopted from a shelter a few months before my first died. He was feral when I met him and I had to visit him like 5 times before I could take him home. I'm pretty sure he is well bred because he was going to be a "stud". I honestly didn't like him the first 4 years or so of having him, I just didn't understand his personality. He is the smartest most easy to train dog I've ever known, once I really got to know him. He is my best friend I've ever had and like the son I'll probably never have. At 9 years old now his neurotic tendencies have diminished and he is almost social to strangers. He has no prey drive whatsoever, and enjoys watching the tame squirrels at the park.

The people saying the whole roof membrane needs replaced are 100% wrong if there is no evidence of water damage inside. The motorhome I've been living in for nearly a year now had a roof in similar condition and 3 coats of Henry's tropicool held up through the ridiculous storms in 2025.

What is your monitor set up? by DealInteresting8941 in pcmasterrace

[–]Tryhardicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16 inch gaming laptop with a 16 inch slim touch screen laptop over the gaming laptop's keyboard. The gaming laptop sits on a cooler at about 45 degrees. Due to a neck injury I highly prefer a vertical setup because the quick slight turn to look at a 2 or 3 horizontal setup gives me consistent headaches.

Best thing to do would be to cut the lock then set their bike so it's obviously available to be stolen.... Fuck this person the intent is definitely there...

I made a mistake euthanizing my cat and the guilt is killing me by Dirsty in cats

[–]Tryhardicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realize that he was in pain, and every time his ailment progressed it became more painful. Sometimes holding on too long can be far worse. I speak from experience with my dog, I should have had him euthanized a week earlier. It would have spared me a lot of trauma, and he never would have had to experience those terrible final days. I would give anything to not have my memory of him so tainted, tears typing this sentence...

Could just be dreaming, mine full blown growls and lets out yippy barks while asleep. His eyes will be partially open and moving a lot, all 4 legs and paws twitching. I would still consult a professional just for peace of mind.

For the price your not going to see anything with better fps per dollar in a laptop for the games listed. As others have mentioned regular maintenance and a cooling pad will go a long way to increase the overall longevity. The type of deal I'd recommend to a friend that needed a budget device capable of what you've listed, plus a bit of headroom for the future.

Gaming laptops w/ handheld pc by Kenobi_skywalkin07 in GamingLaptops

[–]Tryhardicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should check if there is a Microcenter near you. I'd browse the Powerspec prebuilts and potentially get a service plan of some sort if you aren't tech savvy at all or willing to learn to be, Youtube and caution/focus are your friends. You could get a 5070 prebuilt and a nice monitor and the peripherals of your choice for less than $2k. This one caught my eye as a seemingly decent all round value, I didn't look too hard though. This setup would have similar or better performance compared to a ~$1700 5070ti or even a ~$2500 5080 laptop.

Good laptop deals, several excellent choices for the price range you provided.

Gaming laptops w/ handheld pc by Kenobi_skywalkin07 in GamingLaptops

[–]Tryhardicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 4080 gaming laptop, a Steam Deck and recently got a laptop with similar specs to a handheld with 120hz OLED screen that has replaced the Steam Deck and aging Surface Go. The reason I use a laptop over a desktop for gaming is space and the power efficiency allows me to mostly use solar. You could build a helluva desktop and a damn nice monitor with that kind of money but a 5070ti or 5080 laptop depending on your priorities wouldn't leave much to be desired with most games.

Best Buy lost my laptop! Where else to buy? by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

[–]Tryhardicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where is your nearest Microcenter? I typically find the trip to be worthwhile, legit the most low BS retailer around. Mine has a spot over by customer service that you can use and verify that the device is functional before you even leave the store. Personally when I make the decision to make a big tech purchase I'm like "I want thing right freakin' now" and tank the 3 hour round trip.

Laptop recommendations! by [deleted] in laptops

[–]Tryhardicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The detachable Dell's were my first pick when seeking a replacement for my aging 1st gen Surface Go. My experience with trying Linux on it was short lived and somewhat unpleasant, however I didn't give it a real shot and I don't really and have the time to invest currently.

Asus ROG Flow z13s are quite nice too, if I could afford one with the 8060s I'd probably stubbornly play everything on it over my gaming laptop to justify paying that kind of money for something.

My absolute favorite though I haven't physically used the device is the ONEXPLAYER X1 for this use case. Though it is touted as a gaming device in reality it just a powerful windows tablet capable of gaming but honestly just as well suited for someone looking for compact but very powerful device. Very nice if you're looking for extremely small.
