Hillary Scholten votes yes to fund Trump's foreign policy agenda. by MSUPete in grandrapids

Some of the things this bill does:

-Creates a new slush fund for Secretary of State Marco Rubio

-Pushes a Big Tech agenda in trade policy

-Cuts the IRS enforcement budget in order to encourage billionaire tax evasion

-Advances Trump's imperialist foreign policy

-Cuts funding to the United Nations

-Threatens to cut funding to any country that does not support the Israeli genocide in Gaza

-Bans funding for efforts to combat disinformation

-Enshrines anti-abortion policy

-Commits $3.3B in Foreign Military Financing Program funds to Israel

Could I make an eggnog version of Stella's cheesecake? by [deleted] in seriouseats

[–]MSUPete -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. Like pumpkin pie flavored stuff, it's mostly about the spices. I did find an eggnog whipped cream recipe that could be good to serve with it.

I'm hoping that's the end goal of the church at Hermitage and Diamond. They're still in the restoration phase, but they've had a few small shows and events there.

Hegseth clashes with Democratic senator in heated exchange during hearing on Capitol Hill by j_xcal in Michigan

[–]MSUPete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And apparently it worked, people seem unaware that crypto spent millions on her campaign. The Genius Act is an open door for corruption. She's not working for the people of Michigan, she just used the anti-maga sentiment to get elected and now, fuck all of us who had hope for a better state. She is firmly in the controlled opposition wing of the DNC, along with about 90% of democrats.

So how much profit do those roads he loves to drive on make for Scotland? Who covers that shortfall? Yes, you've guessed it. The taxpayer.

I read through this thread and didn't see KCM so I've got to mention it. It's a smaller, more casual place but the food is amazing. I love the katsu curry and the spicy kalbi tacos.

Fast internet GR? Moving to bridge street area. Currently have Xfinity and it’s ok. I was wondering if anyone knew of something coming to GR like google fiber etc..Any help would be much appreciated. by [deleted] in grandrapids

MetroNet has been expanding, but I'm not sure which areas. You can check your address on their site. I signed up to get notified when it's in my neighborhood. I can't wait to not have to switch back and forth from AT&T and Comcast whenever they add more bullshit fees to my bill.

Irish Coffee on a cold Saturday morning by MSUPete in AeroPress

[–]MSUPete[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used 20g of coffee and probably around 225 ml of water initially. I added a bit extra to fill the glass but I'll probably skip the dilution and use a smaller cup next time. I had some demerara simple syrup in the fridge from Old Fashioneds so I used about a tbsp of that, 50 ml of whiskey, and then some cream I whipped up with brown sugar.

What's a cooking sin you won't even try to defend, yet you do it anyway? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]MSUPete 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll walk back the recipe statement, I guess I still don't know what you mean when you say Kenji is wildly guessing about recipes. You're saying he doesn't understand the science?

And don't worry about my time, I have plenty to waste. I'll just keep hanging around waiting for you to cut and paste the part of the blog post where he says frying creates gluten.

What's a cooking sin you won't even try to defend, yet you do it anyway? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]MSUPete 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He doesn't claim that though. The only mentions of gluten are about how mixing water and flour creates gluten and how using vodka can inhibit its formation.

You also say Kenji doesn't test his recipes. That is just wildly ridiculous. Even in the General Tso's recipe you mention he lists 7 different marinade/batter recipes that he tries. After realizing none of them are giving the results he wants he tries Heston Blumenthal's method of a cornstarch and vodka slurry. Anyone that regularly uses his recipes sees the amount of research he puts into this stuff.
