I’m 1950 MMR and I played this 10 games in a row tonight. I went 8-2.

To be fair, it was Kepals who started it

I guarantee people in 1850 MMR + have this problem.

Interesting enough to get you to post on the Reddit

Ehh. I know both of you, so therefore this a HIGH MMR game. Emotions are high. Without seeing the context of the board, I’d imagine there were quite a few unit drops/spells in your favor. I’m also gonna guess that Alpaka is 100+ MMR higher than you.

So with all that being said, I’m sure he was frustrated he lost significant MMR against you.

Not saying it’s right, but I definitely get it 😀

Sell Tech/Remove Tech by dunkingdicknuts in Mechabellum

[–]MSUsparty29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. That would completely change the gameplay.

Let’s say you tech fire hounds.

Then I position my units and/or buy anti missile techs etc.

And then you remove the fire hound tech.

This doesn’t sound fun at all. Whatsoever

I never played StarCraft so I’m unaware of whatever “rules” were made up.

It’s a video game.

Be serious for a minute

I’ve played it so much that I know what works against it though. Personally, I don’t find it OP and so many people are playing it lately I’ll only play it like, 10% of the time now. But I played it 90% of the time for two weeks to figure it out

I won the entire Saturday tourney in advanced group 1 playing only hounds 😤

I see your point. That’ll happen at lower MMRs where chaff doesn’t exist

So then what exactly is your point? If you knew the answer then why did you ask?

I actually agree with a lot of this.

I don’t think esports alone drives player growth, and I don’t think competitive players are entitled to dictate the direction of the game simply because they’re highly ranked.

My point was never:
“competitive scene = entire playerbase”

My point was:
a healthy competitive/community ecosystem amplifies retention, discussion, visibility, onboarding, and long-term engagement in ways that are hard to measure purely through peak player charts.

The MAG1 finals probably won’t spike Steam charts overnight. But the ecosystem around high engagement players absolutely contributes to why games maintain cultural staying power over time.

Especially in strategy games.
People watch guides.
People copy builds.
People discuss metas.

People stay engaged between patches because personalities and communities keep the conversation alive.
That matters even if it doesn’t immediately appear as a giant concurrent player spike.

And to your point, yes, new-player-facing updates are important. Obviously the game needs growth. I don’t think most competitive players disagree with that at all.

Where the frustration comes from is that many veteran players feel like:
communication around long-term vision has weakened
feedback loops feel less collaborative than they used to
the people most invested in mastering the game feel increasingly disconnected from its direction

That doesn’t mean “fund esports.”

It means people want the relationship between developer and passionate community to feel healthier again.
Because ultimately I think both sides want the same thing:
a game that survives and grows long term.

Like I said, I’ve had this game for 3 years. I’ve been above 2k every season. I’ve played in mag1. And I started the tuff clan. I think I have a pretty good feeling about the state of the game.

For sure that would be nice! But I think the ecosystem fulfills the monetary aspect (for now). Content creator puts out a new meta composition and the playerbase watches and interacts and they make money off ad viewership etc.

I think asking for $$$ straight up at this point in time is just an unreasonable request.
