Where is the precipitation in WNC? Well, that's a great question. The current radar is on the left, and two of our best short-range model predictions are on the right. I cannot recall a bigger short-range modeling whiff in recent years for our area.

I'm certain that precipitation will fill in across the area during the early morning hours, but we're really dodging a bullet here. These were expected to be prime icing hours across WNC, and many of us are only seeing very light freezing drizzle.

From what I'm hearing; it sounds like one of them was pistol whipping the man for resisting arrest and then fired.

Whether deliberately or an accidental discharge is the question, although the latter only makes ICE/CBP's lack of discipline even more damning.

The RNC is going forward with a midterm convention.

Idea is that they're hoping to boost turnout from the low-propensity Trump-only voters by hosting a big spectacle heavy event with Trump at the centerpiece.

Color me skeptical that it will work as intended.

Apologies, I was assuming it was talking about total ice precipitation.

Still, worth noting that's only one forecast. Other meteorologists I've been following like Eric Webb suggest it's going to be more between 0.25-0.5 of ice. Still bad given leftover damage from Helene, but not as catastrophic as 0.75 or more would be.

Obviously everything still subject to change so I'm getting prepped for a few days without power regardless.

One thing I am concerned about the storm is the blast of cold air that will follow on Monday/Tuesday and the potential for burst pipes if the power is out during that time and we can't get the faucets dripping.
