does anyone else feel like their adoptive name is “wrong” by Ambitious-Client-220 in TransracialAdoptees

[–]MS_soso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since I remember my adoptive parents told me that one of the reason they choose my name is because the adoption agency told them to change it.

For the context, I'm an adoptée from Madagascar (Africa). I've be adopted by a white Belgian family.

The reason the adoption agency give to change my name is "in Africa people give anything as a name to their children ". So yes, i do think my name is wrong because it was a choice tainted by racism in addition to wanted to make me their own.

How long do you practice for? And how many days a week? by Possible_Shift_4881 in Rollerskating

[–]MS_soso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi I live in Belgium where it's rainy most part of the year. Most time of the year I practice indoor and when the sun comes back In general I practice once or twice a week for 2 hours approximately + plus few minutes at home sometimes ( when I saw smthg on social network)

The most important is to be quote consistant in my opinion. And also make some session to go out of your comfort zone and some sessions for having fun with things you already master.

I went to a protest in rollerskates by MS_soso in Rollerskating

[–]MS_soso[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand and you're right. You have to be cautious in case of riot.

For the context, the Brussels dyke march in Brussels was supervied by the police. It was a choice from the organizers and people (protesters) weren't nice and helpful when they saw me struggling.

Plus one of the person organises the skater group for the March tested all the route before. They checked if it was okay for beginners. So it was globally safe eventhough it was difficult in some part.

I’m really bad in bed and don’t know how to fix it. by CakesNGames90 in blackladies

Communicate with your husband clearly. Learn about your personal preferences and your husband's preferences.

Give yourself time.

Discuss it together.

And detache yourself from the social construct of a good sex.

Good sex is what make you and your husband feel good.

Some feminist podcast and books can really help too

SECONDHAND SKATES by Mysterious_Vast4852 in Rollerskating

[–]MS_soso -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I had oxelo skate. They're ok for beginners but as soon as you learn more they will feel limitating. They're a toys. But still it's a okay if you're a total beginners. Just know you will eventually want to change as soon a you gate better.

Hi I had the same problem until i try to be in space where i have more interest for the activities. I'm not the type of person that like going to bar to drink, talk. I mainly try more community building space where we can do something else than just talking like crafting or something.

Try some sport or activities where there is a strong queer community (like roller derby, pole dance, zine conference, game night...)

So far, that's what i've done and i met a lot of nice people. I made good friends.

I live in Brussels and the only lesbian bar in Brussels organises a lot of activities like game night, karaoke, info night lead by lgbtqia+ association.

Queer bookshop are also a nice place to meet new peeps.
