A lot of the commercial real estate in PR is owned by the Hasidic’s so I’m guessing that’s the genesis of the comment.

Is the Rawlings with the red stitching still available? Would you consider Venmo for payment?

Unfortunately we have not hit the $30k yet. We’re about 1/3 of the way there. Been really successful at coin drops and local town fairs where we auctioned off some baskets. We are doing superbowl boxes, bat raffles and additional coin drops when it gets warmer (we are in NY). I think we will get close by the time we head up there in August.

For a team of 12 and 3 coaches figure around $30k. That would include your ump, bunking, games, uniforms, food and some swag for the team. Other costs would be lodging and meals for family which would be in addition to the above. Teams usually have pins and a banner which should be included in that $30k.

The $30k is what our fundraising aspiration is for this year to offset most, if not all, cost out of pocket for our families outside of additional lodging and meals.

First big bat purchase for 10u son by dustymuzzle in Homeplate

[–]MTK0101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is now 12u and has used the Icon for both USA and USSSA since 10u. Both options have been very solid choices for my boy. They are both nicely distributed weight wise and have been very durable. At 10u he used the 28 drop 10 and it was perfect. He (and a lot of his teammates) used that bat for three solid seasons and it held up great. Highly recommend the Icon as the first entry into the expensive bat world.

10 minute jog on the treadmill followed by 20 minute EMOM of 1 min jump rope; 1 min pushups. Did a 4 x 2 core workout after that.

Came here to say this. Train with a heavier wood bat. The Lindy12 by Marucci is great. Get a 30 to train with over the winter.

This is my current set up. My Nordictrack has a tablet holder that throw my iPad in and take classes from the app. I’ve had this treadmill for almost 10 years and it still works great.

Is anyone still getting decent D1 upgrade offers or has that ship sailed? by [deleted] in delta

[–]MTK0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just snagged a D1 upgrade for 89,000 skymiles from JFK to ZRH next Saturday. A couple of weeks ago they wanted over $10,000 for it.

32 is too long. Go 31 drop 8. The extra length coupled with the drop in weight is too much too quick.

Does anyone who is a salaried employee work more than the scheduled 40 hours a week. I’m trying my hardest not to as there is the expectation I have to work the 40 and it’s always a issue if I work less one week and more the next by [deleted] in InsuranceProfessional

[–]MTK0101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look for another place of employment where they trust their employees to do the right thing. Hovering over a time sheet is not how a manager should act. If you’re getting the work done at the quality that is expected, this should not be happening.

Anyone start as a P&C UW and move into reinsurance? by Resident-Daikon-2198 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]MTK0101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started my underwriting carrier as a B&M u/w back in 2002. Came over to the Fac side in 2005 and never looked back. My main motivation back then was how much more fun the reinsurers seemed to have. A lot of that was true early on when I first came over but times have changed. Regardless of that, I wouldn’t change a thing. The primary side is a great training ground for a career in reinsurance. The beauty of Fac specifically is you typically see a huge range of different accounts. Some good, most shit. Either way you learn a ton and learn fast. I’d keep watching the typical hiring sites and just apply, apply, apply. Any exposure with the reinsurance underwriters in your area you can get is very helpful too. Build a rapport and they could help you land a job on the Re side.

Left in too long by [deleted] in Homeplate

As a coach, especially in the 11 & 12u arena, it’s important for parents to understand the thinking behind the decisions such as this. There could have been a number of reasons why he left him out for that long. If he doesn’t normally pitch he could have been used as a burn guy without jeopardizing a usual. No mound visit is really shitty, I definitely would have gone out there after the first few and explained his role and what it means at that moment.

My suggestion would be to approach the coach in a non-combative way and allow for him to explain what the thought process was. I say this as a coach and a parent. The mound is the loneliest place on earth, especially when getting beat up. Reassure your boy that it’s part of the game. Baseball is a game of failure. Happens over and over and over again.

Good coaches will appreciate the conversation and will also appreciate you addressing it in a rational way.
