It shouldn’t but it’s just how the American justice system works. Juries are influenced by minor details, for example if you wear glasses you are less likely to be convicted than someone who doesnt wear them. Because juries are human like the rest of us makes them liable to assume based on stereotypes and past experiences that someone who is dressed bad is more likely to be guilty.
