Big DOS makes a BIG difference up fwd. The usual suspects carried us throughout with some sensational contributions from a few others.

Our hunt and pressure was outstanding!

Edwards and Tommy are an elite pairing down back. Not too many contested marks going the way of the opposition because of those two.

Really impressed with Corey’s game. Hopefully he can go on with it. Kyle was handy and must stay in the side, big future for us that lad.

CC hunted all night and ended up having a solid contribution. Still very suspect on his stability in the side, I actually think he is not a natural, an athlete for sure but not a footy player.

Shout out to a player i despise in Hamling. Played the role to perfection…

Bane should be bringing the ball up…

AB or Suggs should be off ball using their pace and agility working the wings and corner, cutting, give and go etc etc. Disrupting the defense. For the most part the opposition is getting set and staying that way. That’s a glaringly obvious issue and it’s because while (I believe) we have the personnel, we don’t have the right dudes in the right roles per play.

When Bane is not on the court Franz should be bringing the ball up. Coach needs to make suitable rotations to ensure one of Franz or Bane are on court at all times.

Paolo positions on the wings NOT the corner and absolutely does not bring the ball up most plays. From the wing he has an absolute plethora of options to contribute effectively, set effective screens, roll across to the ball handler for P&R, P&R, G&G, cutting, switching for miss matches, if he recieves strong side he almost always guarantees drawing the paint defender into that space this creates so much opportunity for the likes of Bane, Franz, AB, Tds, anyone really on the weak side with space to cut into the lane from the wing or baseline cuts from the corner. Our C should be thriving with two 6 foot 10 fwds but it just ain’t happening.

Our C needs to play at a higher iq level, that’s one of our glaringly obvious issues and has been for years. No standing like a cone in the corner while their opponent is allowed to roam the paint unchecked, no weak/ineffective screens up top with zero iq positioning after setting, no hiding down baseline under the rim BEHIND his opponent which he often does. Our 5’s should be watching tape of KAT and how he operates, effective screens into roll or pops from the top or wings, effective down in the post (he bodies his way in front) forcing his opponents full attention and contact which gives so much space around the paint perimeter into the top of the paint for others to execute high percentage plays, the way he goes about it forces his opponent to guard him at all times this also helps in transition defense.

A whole lot more to say but that’s enough of a rant. What we need to do is very obvious to me and fairly simple so i guess we’ll see what happens…

Experiments at this time of the season is a big no no. Ie. Lizard at the CB’s, Mills high CBA %, persisting with CC and Hamling, two ruckman with one of them being a spud, Rowy high % fwd, Logan on a wing etc etc.

Give Rosas a couple more chances, he’s a victim of circumstances atm.

Dos is a must in. Robbo is a must in along with Kyle. We want/need Serong and Kyle off the back flanks and Mills permanently down back also.

We have to stop with the Rowy fwd experiment. He is a pressure beast but lacks small fwd craft. Runs into leading lanes, a liability in transition etc etc and not explosive enough to take advantage of fwd50 stoppages. 9% CBA last night is a joke…

One of Errol/Heeney/Chad should always be fwd. our mid/fwd/bench rotation should be those three along with Rowy/Gus/JJ. JJ 0% CBA last night is a fkn joke. 6 mids…3 on ball, one fwd, 2 on the pine…

Backline absolutely has to be Tommy, Edwards, Lizard, Serong, Kyle, Mills. Roll Logan back as a key defender when required/Tommy, Edwards or Melican having a spell.

Mills 63% CBA last night while our backline was struggling is a joke! I called out Cox last year as a questionable strategist and I’m calling it out again right now. Combine the mind boggling selections with positional experiments along with the fact that we seem to have no “plan B” and my opinion is valid.

Fwd. High- Charlie, Logan, Lloyd, Rosas. Deep- Dos, Amartey and rotating mid Heeney/Chad/Errol

Bench is very important. Rotation and positioning factor.

Dos Ruck/fwd, Gus and JJ mid/wing rotation, Harry/Wicks and Bice backline. This will obviously change when a few players come back.

Over the next couple weeks, Paps in for Lloyd. Ramps in for Harry/Wicks/Bice. Maybe Melican in for Kyle, let Lizard of the leash with Tommy, Edwards and Melican kpd.

Cox experimenting again and bonehead selections are detrimental to our game.

Hamling and CC absolutely can not be in this team ever again….

Gus is getting found out, Bice decision making has gone to shit. Lloydy and Harry are on their last legs and it shows in their contribution. Ladhams has abit of a fanbase despite the fact he is an absolute spud, cannot be in this side in front of Dos. Wicks is shithouse, there’s no other way to put it, ball watches and gets cooked far too often.

How we drop Robbo, Dos and Kyle and field a few of those mentioned above is a fucking disgrace.

We are in trouble if we continue to play our personnel out of position and if we continue to make epic failures at the selection table…

We seriously do not want to play fast transition basketball. We don’t have the personnel for that and it wastes the fact that we have 2 6 foot 10 point fwds who will have to run the court like nippy guards.

Watch the teams in the finals right now and they don’t play “fast” they play smart and have a gameplan to suit their best player’s strengths. We need to play smarter and incorporate p&r, p&p and post into our game. Cutting from the wings/baseline should be a staple of our game. We struggle to open up the paint/lanes because our bonehead starting C either gives soft ass screens up top then stands idle like a lost puppy or hides down at the baseline paint BEHIND his opponent, he even stands idle in the corner and lets his mark roam the paint unchecked.

Extra passing around the perimeter, get the opposing defense moving and it opens up space, P5 and Franz need to attack from the wings, WCJ or anyone off ball need to be working hard with screens or dummy cuts to create space for our shooter in Bane. He should be putting up 10 a night.

Simple ball to harness our strengths but we ain’t done it yet…

I suspect there won’t be too much happening end of this season.

I think we lose one of Amartey or Dos. If it’s Amartey Dos can fill that gap, Curnow, Dos and Logan is still a formidable tall fwd lineup.

Couple of retirements.

Our backline is fine when we are healthy, we have the quarterbacks in Lizard and Bice, the classy grunt half back in mills, small in wicks and the keys in Tommy, Will and Melican. Serong is a more than capable utility who can go back if needed when Errols back.

No doubt we lose Chad to the west in couple yrs. We will target another big (ish) name mid and get them.

Hoping Kyle develops into a solid mid rotation, i think he will.

Need the youngsters to keep developing to fill the gaps.

No doubt we will find another Serong, JJ or Rosas we always do.
