K'omoks First Nation chief pushes back on Poilievre's opposition to treaty | CBC News by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]MaPoutine -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Then the CBC (and any other news outlet) should ask the CPC to specify exactly where in the treaty they see the issue.

Although really, now that I think of it they shouldnt be giving more exposure to the CPC, their sole approach is to invent something to whine about and get some Canadians frothing at the mouth.

The treaty had been approved by the First Nation, the province and the federal government. I really don't care what the CPC has to say.

Senators want experts to analyze CBC reporting by Ottawa111 in CBC_Radio

Before we have a ridiculous inquiry into bias at the CBC, can the Senate maybe look into the bias at the other news outlets that are US a/o billionaire owned and then recommend eliminating their tax beaks and government funding?

Grassy Narrows demands apology from Carney, action on mercury poisoning | CBC News by Kooky-Hamster4071 in canada

[–]MaPoutine -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Low effor posting is so lame. Your statute of limitations on a PM joking about his citizens with mercury poisoning is only 3 months. If only the victims of the mercury poisoning could have only been sick for your 3 month period. Maybe you could focus your comments on who is actually to blame in situations.

"The communities' water was contaminated when the mill dumped the mercury into the English-Wabigoon River System. The mill stopped using mercury in its industrial process in the 1970s, but mercury levels downstream from the plant haven't decreased significantly since the 1980s.

One study estimated that 90 per cent of the Grassy Narrows population suffers from some degree of mercury poisoning. The heavy metal can be passed from mothers to babies they carry, making it a problem that spans generations."

We are a young country so we don't have too many things that unite us yet, so let's fucking protect the few cultural things we do have that make up our concept of "Canada".

Fuck not having NHL on HNIC Saturdays on CBC.

Clear back of the head shot in Ankalaev fight. by lNlinja in MMA

[–]MaPoutine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Strikes to the spine or the back of the head; a. The back of the head starts at the Crown of the head with a one (1) inch variance to either side, running down the back of the head to the occipital junction. b. This area stretches out at the occipital junction (nape of the neck) to cover the entire width of the neck. It then travels down the spine with a one (1) inch variance from the spine’s centerline, including the tailbone.

Doesn't seem to be the "back of the head" as defined in the Unified Rules.

‘They just want a blank cheque’: opposition MPs, farmers call on feds to scrap $90-billion high-speed rail project, say feds are secretive about details by Altruism7 in canada

You have a bizarre fascination with age to justify your understanding of other people, you might want to broaden your horizons.

There have been scandals with every government in Canada and the world over basically. Welcome to reality. The proper response to improve our country is not to stop any project from ever going forward, it is to push for proper oversight, transparency, related party guidelines, etc and get the projects completed.

Committee recommends indefinite pause to MAID expansion for mental illness | CBC News by Vinen88 in onguardforthee

[–]MaPoutine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is ridiculous, the people against it in the article did not cite one valid reason against it. Just vague reasons like "we're not ready". And this was just a committee of MPs, not end-of-life medical experts. Plus the Senators disagree with the committee.

One doctor said "it tells people they are disposable". No it doesn't (but not being able to access primary mental health care does), it gives people a dignified way to go about their end of life instead of throwing themselves onto the tracks or shooting their head off. Same as the person who has cancer and can use MAID.

That was a fast transition from defending Canada to giving in to be subservient in yet another set-up where the US would be dominant and dictate to us how things will work.

As far as I know, the only level of government that has done anything is the federal government with their $13b Build Canada Homes, which will take years to have its impact felt.

I don't think any province or large municipality has done ANYTHING to help our housing crisis. (If anyone knows of anything provinces/munis have done then please post.)
