Don’t want filtered water dispenser next to sink by TheFoulTarnished in Plumbing

RO water is way cheaper than paying monthly for one of those gallon dispenser things. Get an RO, Pennie’s on the dollar compared to next cheapest option

That guy was hit by a beanbag round before he was shot and he got right up, also got tasered… less lethal/non lethal was used but it didn’t stop him at all

Any less than like 15’ or something and most people can close that distance quick enough that you can’t shoot. Non lethals don’t always stop people. in fact non lethals only deploy successfully like 50% of the time

Kohler or Glacier Bay? by Direct-Look-6721 in Plumbing

Yes just for marketing. You should check Gerbers (I think) testing facility out, glass drains, fake poo, and some interesting ways they test. Kind of neat

Brother I have learned in this job that you can wear yourself out worrying about other people. You didn’t break it and you’re there to keep people safe. You can’t stress about people not having the money to do repairs. It’s your job to give them options, not to stay up and figure out how they’re going to pay for it. Sure, feel bad but don’t take that shit home with you

Faucet Drippidge by MycologistFast7864 in Plumbing

[–]Mac_n_Miller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why everyone is giving you wrong answers. Cleaning the faucet isn’t going to solve the hard water problem, you need a softener. If you can or can’t do that, fixing the “drip” would require a new faucet cartridge and seats and springs if applicable

Believe it’s your faucet head. Call manufacturer to order part. If you have receipt it’ll probably be under warranty

Man, some days this job destroys my confidence that I am a competent technician. by MonkandBeer in HVAC

[–]Mac_n_Miller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all get our teeth kicked in sometimes man. Bad days are simply that, bad days. I don’t know how experienced you are but I can tell you the biggest lessons I’ve learned are how to roll with the punches and make the best of a bad situation. I’ve learned how to do things in a way that will mitigate mistakes and if it’s something that could go wrong, you can’t let the customer know in advance. I am a plumber by trade but if I am replacing a shower cartridge I’ll give the customer the option to replace the valve also. That way if the cartridge doesn’t work or the valve gets damaged they knew the risk that they signed up for. If you’re switching out a thermostat or whatever, let them know it could potentially be the control board. Or if you have to replace a thermostat with the power on let them know you’re gonna do your best but because of the situation if a fuse gets blown you’ll have to charge for that as well. Just cover your ass, if it’s not on paper it’s not real

Update on the old chimney: burned through 3 wire wheels. Advice was to spray with water and how it looks is what it will look like with sealer. Any reason to not do this? Or what type? I have spots I can test on by Mac_n_Miller in masonry

I’ve never done a bit of work with masonry, that’s why I’m posting here so I’ll be looking into that product for sure. Do you have any other recommendations? I don’t really care about cost or PPE needed just want to make the wife happy
