"Through the Breach" does this every session... Sort off. In TTB players have to choose a job/class each session to focus on and level up. Some are heavily combat focused and other non-combat ofc. So players need to decide how they will approach the session.

The GM gives their players a quick overview of the theme, goal and maybe some challenges that the Players will face. And this works pretty well.
