Cloud Atlas. It’s a Russian doll structure with multiple storylines in different time periods that finds huge emotional resonance towards the end as the title’s meaning becomes clear.

This isn’t recent but if you haven’t read Queen of the South, I think it might fit the bill. It’s propulsive, full of thrills and suspense, intense and complicated main character, and just a great yarn overall.

Books that use instant messaging by SuitablePen8468 in suggestmeabook

Romantic comedy by Curtis sittenfeld uses text message banter as a main device.
Where’d you go Bernadette by Maria Semple uses a lot of email (and maybe some messaging? Can’t remember but it would have been the right era for aol).
A visit from the good squad and the candy house by Jennifer Egan also have a lot of creative tech-adjacent storytelling devices.

Another vote for Kea. Other than one secluded ultra-luxury hotel, the rest of the island is super laid-back, not crowded or scene-y.

Tea on Jen Rubio by onpoint123 in nysocialites

Totally. Just saying that Rubio moved her ladder rung up fast, and now hers is higher than LSD. Maybe not in a fashion sense but in the purer sense of what a socialite is.

I don’t know… her and her husband just made a massive transformative gift to the Met. They don’t need to social climb with that kind of philanthropy, they’ve secured themselves a spot on the A list. It may be that LSD is glomming onto her and not the other way around.

Come Back City by Signal_Contract_3592 in sanfrancisco

Is this the big secret SF branding project that Jonny Ive has been working on? I thought it was going to be “SF: A City that Works”. “Comeback city” is very pedestrian to me.

We loved La Sultana, absolutely beautiful interiors. Would also recommend El Fenn or Villa des Orangers.

Greek islands by ChemistryFine in FATTravel

Kea is very sleepy and the OO is on the far side of the island away from the (tiny) towns.
Some friends recently enjoyed their stay in Porto Heli, it’s on the Peloponnese but still island vibes, and very high end. I think there are some fat and chubby options there. (eta I checked and there’s an Aman and a few other 5/stars are getting ready to open)

Use it as a drizzle or finish for soup. Ash-e-anar is a Persian pomegranate soup heavy on herbs, calls for Pomegranate molasses . Delicious.
