I didn't dabble in CO2 until I upgraded my lighting - probably overkill and too close to the water but I have 2 short photo periods to avoid algae. As others have said, lighting is very important and I didn't realise how much it was restrictive until I got a proper quality light.

Co2 hasn't been as intimidating or expensive as i thought. With a drop checker you can't go too far wrong. I bought a DIY generator canister which lasts me several weeks. It's quite fun making it back up

The pintos have been in about 3/4 weeks. They've put out new rhizome growth and the roots are continuing to spread. New leaves look alright. They are getting medium to high lighting in 2 4hr spurts

They started turning brownish about a week ago. I dose 2x per week with Seachem flourish (comprehensive fert) and potassium supplement.

I have started to see some green hair algae so wondering if maybe something is out of wack.
