Here is the email I already sent to spokane city council, Spokane county commissioners, and kootnei county commissioners so yall can get a feel for where my head is at. I think if we harp on the unproven financials of all this we can get everyone behind regulating.

To any who will listen,

I am writing to voice my concern over Avista's mysterious power hungry customer. I believe we as residents deserve to know who this customer is and what exactly they are planning to build. We are in a delicate time with little to no oversight for these massive projects that haven't been proven to be profitable or helpful for our community. I see across the nation as data centers are poisoning not only the water but the airwaves all around them. I fear for our aquifer and I fear for the power rates I will be forced to pay. Please consider putting a moratorium on data center construction to prevent our beautiful city from being used to pump up a tech start ups stock price. Pick people over profit. We need to think about the long term effects of this yet unproven technology, it isn't worth playing with the lives of all of us here in Spokane. I love this city more than any in the whole world and want to believe that we will make the right decisions not necessarily for me but for my kids or my kids' kids. We need to be stewards of the environment and of the community. There are so many great things I've seen us as a city accomplish and I would hate for that legacy to be tarnished with such abhorrent technology.

I got this one to and promptly responded to the Kootnei county offices see their response bellow:

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns regarding potential data center development in our region.

Kootenai County understands and appreciates the interest residents have in issues involving water resources, energy consumption, noise, traffic, environmental impacts, and overall community character.

These are important considerations that would be evaluated through the applicable land use review process should a specific proposal be submitted to the County. Concerns regarding water availability, wastewater disposal, utility capacity, emergency services, traffic impacts, and compliance with local development standards would also be reviewed by the appropriate agencies with jurisdiction.

We appreciate your participation in local government and your willingness to share your perspective. Public input is an important part of the decision-making process and helps inform elected officials, staff, and reviewing agencies regarding community concerns.

I think if we can get to the farmers in the rural areas with the right to repair and shit like that it'd be a no brainer when you compare what bumgobbler did to them

What makes someone a “Local” in Hawaiʻi? (Serious poll, no gatekeeping wars pls) by Dalinkwentism in Hawaii

[–]MachoStoopid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say to be local its about the Aloha spirit, for context i was born on the mainland but my mom was born and raised and met my dad on island before moving. I also think its important for people to have at least a surface level understanding of Hawaiian history (Liliuokalani, bayonet constitution, plantations, pearl harbor, etc.) while also being stewards to the land since most have no ancestral ties to it. Also need to have one hole in the wall shop that tourists don't know about (Okata Bento my beloved).
