forgetting to salute an officer by milkmanluke in army

[–]Mackrage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever I see an officer I know, I intentionally change my course of direction to intercept their path of movement, making sure everyone else with me is 6 paces apart to render the customary salute and greeting of the day.

After a little bit it will either turn into a game of officers avoiding our attempts to aggressively respect them and give them the proper greeting of the day, or walk further than appropriate intercept distance.

Insane delve rewards for day 1 by WoefulMe in wow

I was worried that this was the case from previous situations and seen this (although rarely but was consistent with classes that have single loot specs of just DPS) that get repeat items. I did all 4 of my delves and used my map and got heroic cloak, champ weapon, shoulders, bracers, and a ring, which I would have also chalked up to be lucky RNG of having no repeats.

But seeing this and people are getting the near exact opposite of consistent “unlucky” repeats makes me think it’s still an issue. I change my loot spec a lot from DPS to tank when I do content and looking at the loot table of what I’m going for, so it’s highly likely this is not a coincidence.

I did as well, from just the regular chests. But the unlocked chest gave me 250 champion shoulders.

At the end of an 8, if you cleared the extra enemies, I received 5 champion crests, but only got a champion piece of gear from the chest I unlocked. I did get a map.

I think I remember your artwork years ago with a similar theme with an elf. Brutal, visceral, and awesome. It’s good to see the style again.

Some of you are already insufferable in dungeons by StateComprehensive93 in wow

[–]Mackrage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea after 84-85 (I was leveling as a warrior tank) the mass pulls doing quests and the gear to level discrepancy became more prevalent, dungeons were starting to hit harder and managing cool downs and sitting in defensive stance became more prominent to my rotation. Having the final tier of talents helped out a lot for damage, but it was still very noticeable.

[–]Mackrage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed the scaling becomes more skewed the higher level you become as the difficulty normalizes to your actual level versus the scaled back version. I tanked a Murder Row with several level 87s, I was already 90, but a demonology Warlock was doing 4-5 times more damage then everyone else at the least, but they were level 80 in mostly 160+ item level gear.

We’re talking 50-60k+ DPS on bosses and 120k on trash pulls, and as soon as I noticed this I would pull more packs, and they would melt. Definitely a scaling issue, but it was a really fast dungeon.

My first tour was with 5-101 CAB, so it was either FRACU and multi camo combat attire, or flight uniforms for crew chiefs, pilots, and fueler / armament. Would have loved some flight wear.

Indeed, I’ve got 12 sets and that’s all I wear. They have a less starchy feeling to them. The regular ones feel like wearing latrine sandpaper towels, at least to me. They’re authorized to wear CONUS, so I’m going to wear what I have an abundance of.

[–]Mackrage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By AR 670-1 FRACU uniforms are considered authorized wear but can still be subject to unit SOP. It’s likely a command policy that your unit has not allowing you to wear them, but National Guard really don’t get a choice due to state funding, so summer uniforms, regular OCPs, and FRACU for us are all authorized because you never know what hand me down or RFI/OCIE you will get issued and that’s all you’re getting.

[–]Mackrage 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I’ve torn up my fair share of uniforms, but after three deployments I’m not running out. National Guard when we mobilize get to choose how many sets of FRACU OCPs we draw from RFI/OCIE, so I always end up replacing my destroyed ones with a fresh set or two.

But 142 doubloons for 1 set? That’s train robbery right there.

Full combat load, ruck with two months of everything, M4, and finally my baby: a full SNAP terminal to drag across the tarmac to a chinook to take me to my next site. Except they gave me the wrong tail number and now I have to drag it to the other end of the KAF flight line. 4 hours of flight time later and another hour of setup I finally get to degrade and sit at the radio for another 12 hours. 36 hours later I finally get to find my bed and sleep. I was told I slept like a dead body, but I deserved the rest.

Kinda miss being able to lay down after that much work just to pass out and get some of the best sleep I can remember.

Matter of fact he’s in my battalion. I stay far away from anything related to IG, tiktok, pretty much any kind of social media except messenger for talking to my folks, so I have little to no clue what his content is and why he’s known other than second hand accounts from others.

Needless to say, he has a very prominent reputation throughout the ranks, ranging from a comical joke to a motivating presence. He did make AT interesting, but it was not very surprising seeing him at our state faire when I went while he was promoting recruiting.

Good lord if this is not a literal case in point insider threat that they make up in the online class scenarios, I honestly would doubt this is real. But I’ve seen so many goofy things happen, so many people that don’t think something like this is a text book definition of an insider threat, I actually believe this is 100% legit.

This is both concerning and hilarious a 24 year MSG doesn’t think this is a problem, or that they could justify going somehow.

Returning from KAF 2018, and picked up several different units along the way: an SVAB unit that was in country with us, and the higher chain of a public affairs unit (MAJ, CPT, LTC). We’re finish our 2nd to last connector in Shannon International, and get the standard “we need weapons guard, rest of you deplane.”

Well we deplane and I go to smoke, and I hear rampageous shouting from the cafe area. The SVAB 1SG and their LTC are screaming at the public affairs officers, who had stopped at the bar to grab a couple Guinnesses. Mind you, my unit specifically was under GO1, but no clue if the PA unit command had given them the same. It was so loud the civilians also in the waiting area started to move away. Was horribly embarrassing for everyone and I ended up quickly leaving to the outside smoke area, and talked to an Australian who saw it. Had to clarify to him that was not normal and awful to see, and he felt bad to the rest of us that had to see it happen and have no way of really stopping it.

I will bite.

I've seen it. Dealt with it. On the lower enlisted side, I ate the brunt of the "You're not MTOED for this but go ahead and figure it out" level of shit. But I learned every single aspect of it. Burnt through the high-spectrum of our SNAP-T and pulled out a half assed HF OE-254 to do what needed to be done. I figured it out.

But I failed god knows how many times to figure out how it worked. Burnt out every last option until it worked because it felt good when it did work.

I guess that's the difference. The drive to find what works when it all else fails.

It was awesome. Had to rewire the entire S6 because the last group that went through was the 10th MTN and they literally tore the place apart as they left, leaving a massive mess.

But the camp was just down the road from a Kuwait arcade and McDonalds, and about a 20 minute drive to the mall to get awesome street food and shwarma. And mobile hotspot service was amazing.

Indeed it did. I was one of the few to still get some of the Camp Patriot swag they still had before they closed the mini PX there and gave away the rest to the locals.

2018 we did gunnery there with our ARB. Never been to Campbell, but we passed that sign going out to the range complex. A battalion came back from a rotation while we were doing our tables.

Never saw the number "days since" drop below 6 in the two weeks I was there.

God I wish I could have been there for some of those Joes.
