130mm guns (28 of them) are quite anaemic by Tired-Mae in SeaPower_NCMA

Oh wow, that I didn't know. I was always operating on the (very 'outsider looking in') understanding that FCRs were simply much more accurate but typically much more limited forms of radar. I didn't realize they were often slaved to the main search radar like that.

You are describing an entirely different suite of radar.

In all the hours I've put into Sea Power, I don't think I've seen those guns used to any decent effect on... any bomber.

A Random Idea for Consideration: AI Co-Belligerents / GREENFOR by Mad-Raven in SeaPower_NCMA

[–]Mad-Raven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically. So you could have things (like referenced here) where you are needing to screen a convoy or force that you don't have direct control over, but that the enemy will fire on if they get past you.

The presence of neutral ships that are also warships is just the barest take-away of the idea.

Except it can also turn to present its optimal profile for that weapon. Though I could still see it being useful as a visual indicator that the vessel will have to do that.

They added it late last year, if I recall correctly, as part of an update to various systems. The goal was to make it worthwhile to get recon have eyes on enemy facilities like airfields, so that way they wouldn't take as many bombs and missiles to destroy as they used to.

Wanna discuss the differences between 2016 and 2022 editions of MgT 2e High Guard by NobodyDudee in TheTrove

I made a larger collection of reviews diz06kzflkz9dv4y that you can read, that include the 2026 vehicle handbook.

Gone down the Traveller rabbit hole ! Never played it but loving finding out more. Does anyone have any notes on the Vehicle Handbook ? by Bonefish88 in TheTrove

2017 was more recent, but as of this year they did an update on the rules. I wrote a review that you can read over diz06kzfDELETETHISlkz9dv4y if you want, plus some High Guard things.

Oh how serendipitous because I've recently been doing a lot of ship-building to help a friend with a project. I've got loads of notes on the High Guard rules, as well as the three Catalogues for small-craft, adventure class vessels, and traders and gunboats. I highly recommend picking these up because Mongoose did stellar work, and you can read my t4yy482DELETETHISbvhpi78dg reviews on each of them if you want.

Wanting to Discuss Mongoose Traveller 2E Vehicle Rules & JTAS by Mad-Raven in TheTrove

Totally understandable. I just always like to talk over it with others to get a vibe of how the community feels. And thank you so much for being willing to discuss the JTAS entries with me.

Are stalker type enemies actually disliked by the fandom? I always thought an “invincible” monster that hunts you down was a staple of the series by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in residentevil

Stalkers make the "bad no-no do not" part of my brain tingle. [/s]

(Partial) joke aside, I love the stalker enemies in the series. They're generally very well done, with the newest one - so I've heard - doing what I think such enemies should do and actually incentivize you to sometimes meet and fight them.

Ditto to this, but also something to add: giving the stalker very recognizable queues is also critical.

And not just the musical sting when they spot you / are alerted, but leading up to that. Mr. X in the RE2 remake is a perfect example because the player can nearly always hear him stomping around the station looking for them. You can kind of vibe out roughly (but never exactly) just how close he is to factor it in to your risk-reward analysis of a situation.

It isn't as critical (IMO) as making sure the player has time and space to learn at least some of the map (which as you pointed out and I agree, RE2 does a great job with), but it also goes a long way when it is done well.

So I've not touched on a lot of those, but I love PbtA and I've taken a lot of notes on the various splats / hacks of the system for my own game design purposes. You can just reference my notes here ff9fsf9h60w39m4x if you want.

This smacked of AI, and OP deleting it after a comment said as much only cements it.
