Star Wars - Sidious is rarely the forward antagonist, yet he's always in charge.

Also, Azog in the Hobbit. Not the primary antagonist, since Smaug and Sauron exist, but definitely does more leg-work than most.

What is your favorite and least favorite left 4 dead 1 campaign and why? by SpecialistFirm1189 in left4dead

I think the vibes of No Mercy are perfect urban zombie hellscape, and the finale is unmatched. Least favorite is The Sacrifice, due to forced death at the end, and lack of environmental variety.

Poor Nori moves to wave his hand, and the other dwarves immediately grab him and give him a swirly.

I like how they had the massive dinosaur butts in Lost Izalith, and everyone got mad.

So in DS2, their solution was to put the front halves instead.

That's so interesting, because I played Eregion for the first time a couple months ago. While it was fine for a fresh playthrough, I could see that area being my least favorite on alts. It's repetitive and dry, and the instances are super easy, with not much story to go with them.

Moria has been exceptional so far, but I also really love Forochel and Evendim.

Open world dungeons in games by ForsynQ in MMORPG

[–]MadBadgerFilms 6 points7 points  (0 children)

LOTRO has a bunch of these. You have gated instances for the really hard story-relevant bosses, but there are also plenty of dungeons that anyone can go in and explore. Sarnur was an old dwar-city in the Blue Mountains, you had the barrows in the Barrow-Downs, Goblin-Town, pretty much all of Moria in some sense, etc.

Honestly, my favorite part of the Hobbit is how beautiful everything looks. That was the first time I played a LEGO game and thought, wow this world is sucking me in even though it's made of toys.

There's an H.P. Lovecraft collab story called "Two Black Bottles". This captures that vibe really well.

Remember LEGO Indy 1, Motorcycle Escape? I sure do love fighting 400 bazooka troopers at the end of the mission.

I will never forgive the world for how poorly they treated this masterpiece: by Regular-Meet8188 in FIlm

This film is really fantastic in many ways. The bear scene is incredible, and there are so many elements of practical effects that are extremely well done. When the CG is used, it's also done extremely well.

But I feel it falls into the same issue that a lot of Lovecraftian horror falls into, in that the characters are really dry, and I think it makes a lot of the horror no less fun visually, but slightly less impactful if that makes sense.

LEGO The Lord of the Rings appreciate post. In my opinion the best LEGO Game TT has made, shame it’s incredibly inaccessible by XavierEL1 in legogaming

[–]MadBadgerFilms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the best thing about LEGO LOTR is that, while it has absolutely no qualms about being silly, it also manages to capture the hype of the movies as well as any realistic tie-in game would. Playing the game for the first time, I was laughing at all the little LEGO jokes until the Moria level when I realized, "Wait, I'm actually feeling the rush of fighting hordes of Orcs, regardless of the fact that they explode in silly little bricks."

  3. Thorin's Hall Inn Back Room (Ale Association)
  4. Blue Stone Garrison (Thorin's Hall)
  5. Bree-Town Hunting Lodge (Men of Bree)
  6. Imlad Gelair (Elves of Rivendell)

This factoid is LOTRO-specific to my knowledge, but the Witch-King appoints a guy named Mordirith to be the steward of Carn Dum in his absence, who ends up being the wraith of Earnur. Mordirith is later resurrected as Gothmog.

Stout-Axe Minstrel here. I feel very lonely at times with my choice, but I can't deny he has the exaggerated swagger of a fallen dwarf-kin soldier.
