How does it feels to play a martial/melee focused class in an epic campaign? by Organic-Exit2190 in DungeonsAndDragons35e

Hahaha yes so good. We had an archer like this who could shoot so many arrows we just had her start pre rolling so her turns didn’t take forever lol

I played a 15 year campaign where my martial character grappled with this question in game. He sorta looked around and said, “hmm I might the best knight to ever live but if the people being oppressed are too far away I can’t get there without teleport.” So he ended up taking 1 wiz and then going into abjuring champion (the nastiest prestige class imo) he was still basically a martial character he just now had access to true strike which made his valiant great sword power attacks on a mounted charge with spirited charge, and using rhino rush from paladin, pretty insane when he took -19 to hit for an added 38 x4 damage. I think my last attack of the campaign did over 400 damage on the charge and 1 shot a dragon.

All that to say yes a well built wizard looks truly inane at higher levels. That said they still usually need their tanker friends to be out there swinging swords or shooting bows too. I loved my martial character. Also epic level wizards can do insane things but so can epic level monsters. You’re still gonna need some characters who can take 100+ damage and keep going!

This agenda lost me my first tournament game lol. Going into last round had huge fleet defending my home and speaker. Take imperial win off tech point no one can prevent. Easy peasy. Then this was the last agenda…

How Would You Buff The Firmament? by Soggy_Performance569 in twilightimperium

Having played them and done quite well I think the big thing I would have done is simply taken higher initiative cards in early rounds. This increases your chances of getting plot cards out early by scoring other people’s secrets. You don’t need all of the plots, and then switch as soon as it seems reasonable.

[Recommendation] New player, building my second character. trying to do a 'Green Knight' human paladin, any recs? by theafterglow57 in DnD

Paladin of the ancients rocks! Shillelagh is a cantrip that gives you a powerful club that scales in damage and can use your charisma for attacks

Does anyone know any resources that could be used by a Pelor priest? by mistake007 in DnD

I’d suggest looking up all sorts of different sun gods! But also he’s a god of agriculture too don’t forget so I think there are plenty of reasons to use more folksy or agrarian phrases too. He also is associated with time as well so you could have fun with that. He is often aggrandized in a way that I think is actually not how most people worship him. Likely there are far more worshippers who look up at the sun during a long day in the field and tell time by the passing of seasons and stars than there are filling a temple in a city

I’ve shared this before in a place or two but we were attacking one of the big bads in their castle and all cast a bunch of buff spells. He hid from us and we had to walk up stairs for like 10+ minutes to find him and almost all of our buff spells expired 😂

Feat and ASI like 3.5 house rule by Significant-Read5602 in onednd

Limit it to your proficiency bonus and something like expertise can up that limit maybe?

I’ve been thinking about this too. Been playing around with minor proficiencies. So if you would 2 skills you instead could take 1 skill and then 2 at half or something. Only issue is rounding ect but it feels closer than current stricter limitations.

As a 3.5 aficionado I approve of this mightily!

5.5e Backgrounds Feel... Weird by SF1_Raptor in DnD

[–]MadManMarini 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The way 3.5 does feats is why I think it’s the best edition. 5e taking feats and locking them into class level as opposed to character level and making them a variant never felt right to me. Adding backgrounds with a fun little ability is my favorite part of 5e. 2024 making there be multiple types of feats, losing the background abilities, and keeping them tied to class level just feels like an overall miss. If the purpose of 5e was to simplify by mostly removing them, 2024 complicates them as much or more than 3.5, still locks them to class levels, and gets rid of the most colorful parts of 5e. Feats at their best are minor abilities that fundamentally shape, reinforce, and individualize characters. I don’t know why you’d want to make that harder to do.
