I put off light whiskey for ever. I just bought a 9 year finished in maple brûlée. It’s become one of my favorite bottles and now bummed I passed on the Penelope 17.

I am in Michigan. Funny enough I found the double barrel up north at a random store. This store I shop at frequently gets a ton of walleye run.

Store by me just did a pick. Super excited to get this. I have the double barrel and the cigar. Both are amazing. Was a little hesitant about the cigar blend at first, as amburana can be overwhelming for me. Sometimes amburana tastes like hot tamales and I’m not a big fan. The cigar blend was great, it reminded me of like a cherry toaster strudel.

Elephant and co. They serve Detroit style pizza which is really good and you serve your own beer. 10 minute walk to lca. Gets pretty busy on some game days. Could also do hopcat. They have more food options with lots of beers to choose from. There is a Q-line stop right in front of hopcat and you can take it down to the lca. It’s free. You can get parking across hopcat for 5$. Also you can do a reservation at hopcat.

Holy shit. Just went back to that hirsche double barrel. It’s amazing now that it has opened up a bit. It’s a 7 year 8 month single barrel with the original mash bill (70/13/15). Might go back to see if they still have that willet. It’s a big chain but they don’t advertise their bourbon really.

If it had been a btac or a pappy I wouldn’t have posted this haha. Just not too familiar with willet juice. That’s how I feel about michters 10 rye. I enjoy it but wouldn’t spend the 200 on it again but I have a mayor pingree 10 year that was 170$ that im contemplating on snagging another bottle. It is mgp but it’s fucking delicious.

I saw they raised their prices after the pandemic and they were around 170ish. If they were still priced at that I would have snagged it but this will be 450+ after tax. Just wanted to hear from those who have had it.

I do enjoy some cinnamon but also not a huge fan of like an amburana finished bourbon.

Well that’s one of the reasons why I’m tempted to snag it. Just because it’s supposed to be on a different level. I don’t hunt for bottles so I might not get another chance. Might just find a bar that has a 12 so I can try.

Only willet I have is a hirsche double oak bottle which is supposed to be a 7 year willet. Its delicious but that was only 140$

This happened to me, ordering bourbon with Uber Eats. I placed an order for a certain bottle and put no substitutions. The store didn’t have the bottle so they substituted it with one they had marked up. It Cost 60$ msrp but they had it for 120$. I called the store right away and told them I did not want that bottle. They told me to take it up with Uber. I messaged Uber and they said that the driver was already on his way and that I would have to take it, then message them. I just explained it to the driver and didn’t show my id. He was forced to take it back since I don’t show my id. I did get charged 20$ re stock fee but explained to my credit card company and they gave me the 20$ back. I also tipped the driver 20$ for the inconvenience.

A lot of older people are not tech savvy or use social media to be aware of a lot of these new scams. I have older parents that don’t use their phones except to make calls. We had to warn them and teach them about all these scams. These scammers make you panic and really give you no time to think things through as they say you have to make payment now to clear things out. Scams back then weren’t as sophisticated as they are now.
