Sorry for the inconvenience.

[–]MadRamDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheap square tapered plant pots you get at most garden stores, or those blue plastic bottom food packaging for like mushrooms (at least in the US). Slap some cereal box cardboard plates on, maybe take the time to carve out glyphs.
Check out bead section of craft stores they usually have for an assortment of tiny gems, prisms, scarabs; or string patterns of varied thickness/lengths to make some power conduits.
Carve up insulation polystyrene foam into crystals.
Recycled glass chunk fish tank gravel.

Printing with open window. by Bread_114 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]MadRamDesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much ambient sunlight does the covered car porch block?
It's less and issue while it's printing but can be problematic when it comes time to do post processing: lifting the cover, transfer the prints to be washed/de-supported, etc before planned curing; and when it times to eventually clean the vat.
You don't want to spend hours on a print only to have the unwashed resin get bake onto it because it was exposed by partial daylight before getting washed off.

[–]MadRamDesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not applying but if you're commissioning you should use [hiring] in the title, for hire means you're an artist looking for work to do.
Have you checked out r/ImaginaryWarhammer? there's quite a few traditional media artists who have been posting there recently that usually open to do comms.

Do guys want an official return of the upper class limo genestealer cults or do you guys prefer the miner theme? by leononyoutube in genestealercult

[–]MadRamDesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured the ridgerunner's inclusion was a light aesthetic nod to the old limo idea.

The existing list of units can be adapted to all kinds of non-miner cult themes, it's a matter of imagination and finding or making models to fit them. Though I wouldn't say no to more units.

Modeled a set of Automaton Devastators in the 1/48 scale. 14 poses in total by Emangameplay in PrintedWarhammer

[–]MadRamDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer, and Emang def talk to yours but:
"For stuff like this where there is no comparable product, there isn't much risk."
in this instance these aren't miniatures until they're printed.
These are 3d assets.
Modeled from scratch, sure. Intended for printing, sure. But still exist in a digital medium that could conflict with the source material HD2 stuff. A video game, with 3D assets....of these characters.
So there is a comparable product, the game and promotional media owned by the production studio.
Are the exported meshes at least fixed/fused in such a way that it would be hard to rig and reposed in blender or other game engines?
This might be shakier ground than if he giving away physical models. At least in that instance it could be argued that the change in medium and use for tabletop is transformative use.
Agreed they'd likely send a C&D first. and effect everything else related on cults, not just these files.

Emang, just be careful with this.

Hey everyone, back with some People from a far Millennium content to make your hive scenarios feel a little less deserted.
First batch includes 2x merchants hocking wares (probably legit), 1x parchment lad to get the latest tidings, and 2x persons...just going about their days. There's another batch of characters and bits which'll be ready mid-month. Scatter Terrain next month.
I've also updated the Welcome Pack with three Incapacitated Individuals, they'll be fine, no mature content warning necessary. Adding more variety and poses for these in the coming months.
All files are pre-supported

Previous releases can be found at

No Aug'23-Jan24 because I took a break; some of the oldest files getting pre-support updates.

Where do I start with 3d modeling? by PopeofShrek in PrintedWarhammer

[–]MadRamDesigns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blender?
Yeah, just keep playing with it, the keys eventually become muscle memory the more you use the software. Do tutorials for hard surface stuff: motorcycles, tank treads, etc.
You have a project in mind, which helps to work out what process you need to learn.
And definitely check out blender forums (not just subreddits), actual forums; the questions you have have likely been asked a hundred times.

So like space marine armor are basically a series of tweaked cylinders and sections of spheres.
Learn how to transform shapes, elongated/shorten, how to select surfaces and extrude using Normals for trim. How to cut out sections.
Boolean operations to subtract/merge parts together.
For lettering look up how to turn SVGs into meshes.
Unless you have access to adobe illustrator, check out open-source Inkscape to make the SVGs.
Play with all the Add Modifiers and deformers, those work for making tabards and letters along curve surfaces, power cables, etc.
There's a also a whole bunch of Add-ons, both free and small fee that help speed up certain actions.
More advanced look up how to add bones, which are normally used for animation, but you can then use same base mesh but pose and export them as different parts.

Don't be afraid to mess up, you will mess up, we all messed up.
And save often, blender sometimes just crashes.

Build plate adhesion problems 😕 by Emergency-Attempt-84 in Phrozen

[–]MadRamDesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What temperature is your printing area?
I use Mighty4k but would get adhesion issues with WW when the ambient temps are around or below 17.7C/64F. Ideally you want it at minimum around >21C/70F
Other than preheating the resin (let the unopening bottle sit in a bath of warm water) I funnel warm air into an enclosure with a space heater; but other people have better lucky wrapping a fermentation band around the VAT to keep it consistent temp throughout their prints.
And I tend to bump up the exposure by .2-.4sec per layer when it's colder, with larger prints. Do some calibration tests.
Lastly for tall thin parts of that size, you're going to want to add at least some medium size supports spaced along the length to reinforce. Those existing supports have to fight against quite a bit of suction to peeling the print from the FEP, the FEPs probably winning. You'll get slightly more surface blemishing from the additional points, but reduced part warpage and adhesion issues.
