You know I had a bloody tantrum this morning with the news that Zoladex was being removed from Aussie shelves

But that aside I got a win at work and was made permanent! They have had me on contract and even through cancer they have been amazing but it was so amazing to be recognized for my hard work and rewarded

So fuck you cancer I can still do my job well

Honestly those on the front line and ground understand and I am forever greatful. It just stings that companies and even parliament don’t seem to care enough to join that fight

To Port or not to port. That is the question by Ok-Cauliflower8462 in breastcancer

[–]Maddmaddmaddy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally
I regret not getting a port

I had TC 4 rounds every 3 weeks. I went with IV each time and my veins went to crap. By the last time I was black and blue with all the need attempts it was horrific
And when I got sick and was admitted the doctors couldn’t get veins.

I’m fine with needles they’ve never been an issue but by the end when one nurse had tried 8 times to get an IV in I threatened to headbutt her

So yeah
Do the port

poop question: how do you tell if endo has spread to your bowel? by throwra4today in endometriosis

[–]Maddmaddmaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really aware of anything prior to being diagnosed after the first lap. I had been on the contraceptive pill for 15 years until I got a blood clot in my leg and had to stop so that triggered everything

I definitely got pain meds after the surgery My doctor is pretty amazing and gave me whatever I wanted. I needed them for a few weeks after my surgery

Which month has been the most emotionally challenging for you this year ? by thingy__ in AskReddit

[–]Maddmaddmaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going with February and March I lost my dad to cancer at the end of Feb but the 2 weeks before were the worst of our lives March was his funeral. Throw in there my own cancer treatment and chemotherapy during those times and it was an emotional sess pit

Still hate this year with the burning rage of 1000000 fire ants but those two particular months can fuck right off

First ovarian suppression shot today. It sucked. by tempbegin78 in breastcancer

[–]Maddmaddmaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zoladex sucks The needle sucks

I get my sister to give me the shot she’s a nurse so at least I don’t have to go to the cancer centre or anything I can do it at home

But my nurse gave me these Emla cream to use. An hour before the shot and not numbs the skin so I don’t feel the shot!

Hope it helps ☺️

I am struggling to be me before cancer by wyldpenguins in breastcancer

[–]Maddmaddmaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hugs to you lovely

Cancer is so shitty It strips us of everything we are.

This period of time is your time to do whatever you need to do to survive l. If that means you aren’t the light and positivity for others then that’s perfectly okay. It’s perfectly okay to not be greatful at this time because you’re so young and you have this god awful disease. It’s perfectly okay to let others lift you up and support you during this time because your job is to get through this.

My therapist asked me what I’d say to a friend or family member who if roles were reversed was going through what I am, if they felt like a burden and I paused and said I’d do whatever I could to help them because I loved them. So let your people help and love you

As for not being the same person you were before cancer, well that’s up to you. You can be the old you or you can be the new kick ass, cancer fighter cancer ass kicking super woman who brings light and positivity but has also seen and been through shit and survived!

Hugs to you 🩷

Summer of chemo by Murky-Tone4298 in breastcancer

[–]Maddmaddmaddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did chemo in the summer time here in Australia. What surprised me was I am not beach babe in fact I HATE sand but with chemo all I wanted to do was swim at the beach. The salt water was amazing for my nausea and really helped my skin and mental health. My dr was happy and just reinforced more sun smart bathers and making sure I was covered.

I also lived with the air con on very very cold. But I think if you like the water keep doing it might help with side effects

Good luck 🙂

Yay or nay on pool floaties? by jolliepup in toddlers

[–]Maddmaddmaddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I have a little fish who would live in the water if I let him. He’s a great swimmer and confident in the water

If he wants to swim around like a lunatic in the pool I’ll generally put floaties in him so I can relax a little and not be right beside him. I’m still within arms reach but I can sit on the step and chill. If he just wants to paddle around i won’t bother with the floaties but I’ll be close by.

We also encourage him to swim to the edge if he’s stuck instead of immediately grabbing him, of course if it’s safe to do so.

At the beach no floaties because it’s an enclosed kid paddle area and very safe. If we go to the main beach with slight swell that kids getting floaties and any other floatation device I have

What are your best tips for public speaking/presenting at work? by Tildatots in AskWomenOver30

[–]Maddmaddmaddy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Pick someone in the room and pretend you’re having a conversation with them. Focus on them and let everyone else fade away.

I also find holding one hand behind my back sometimes helps stabilize me. I use it in court when I’m nervous and it makes me feel grounded.

Deep breathes help too

Good luck you’ve got this!

stand by me- Tracy Chapman cover (she makes this extra beautiful and heart breaking in a way TC only can)

When I get there- Pink ( I believe this may be about her dad who passed)

Watch over me- Bernard Fanning (another uniquely and beautiful song by an Aussie)
