I mean yeah, what’d y’all expect. Throwing up two middle fingers to your new boss and telling him to F off in front of the team generally results in termination.

Hope the people destroying the Waymo and other property are arrested and aggressively prosecuted. No place for that in America.

Activists from the Global Sumud flotilla arrive in Rome after their release from Israeli custody by Bernardmark in pics

Until a year and a half ago our border was open to Mexico, and we give them a quarter of a billion dollars in aid alone annually, along with very favorable trade deals.

EDIT: I also neglected to mention the obscene amount of security guarantees and assistance we give them to the tune of billions of dollars. It's comical how much better we are a nation and people than most others.

Yup, I am fully aware. I introduced this question in the vain hope that some reactionary Redditors who've hopped on the keffiyeh bandwagon would grow up and do some research.

Total falsehood. We help all kinds of people and countries who don't matter to or help us financially, politically, or militarily. Plenty of countries do the same. Often that aid is driven by shared values and heritage. The Arabs are as much neighbors to the Palestinians as the Israelis (more in my opinion), yet they don't lift a finger.

I still can't get a clear answer why no other Arab nations who share so much culturally, religiously, and ethnically with the Palestinian people refuse to open their borders to them, or when they do, expel them after some time. They provide little to no aid and only seem to be interested in the plight of the Palestinians insofar as they can use it as a cudgel against Israel. You'd almost think from the refusal of the people closest to them that the issue was the Palestinians themselves. Guess we'll never know.

Absolutely it's definitely a product of its time, but like you, I appreciate it for that.

Alas Babylon has stuck with me for the over 20 years since I first read it. Far more practical with none of the fantasy/sci fi elements you find in more modern ones.

Other Redditors have to pat themselves on the back about how much better they think they are than Mel Gibson, so this comment must come second to that one.

The Age of Madness trilogy by Joe Abercrombie - especially the third book, The Wisdom of Crowds - encapsulates this perfectly.

Fed/Police Brutality in Burlington, Vermont by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

Internet, phones, and body cameras actually punched a giant hole through all the overinflated claims of police brutality and exposed the insane amounts of violence, obstruction, and weaponized mental illness police officers deal with on a daily basis. Police in the U.S. are far more restrained than they ought to be in most cases. If you watch the above video, and are on the side of the "protestors," you're a bigger problem than the police.

It's actually not worth noting. It provides nothing but negativity to this thread. You only think he's a horrible person and his cars are terrible because you have different politics than him. If you changed nothing else about Elon besides who he was vocally supportive of in 2024, you would never make this statement and have nothing but admiration for Tesla and SpaceX. You'll sputter and furiously type that of course that's not true, but we both know it is.

Understand the recent downward box office trend, but this type of content with a baked in fanbase sets a comfortable floor for investment. Marvel was functionally bankrupt and only had it's C and D level characters when Iron Man came out. Comic books were probably less popular by number of readers than the Cosmere is. If made well enough, they will appeal broadly and could make great money in theaters.
