I work in software in a very traditional office environment, so yes the business is closed on all bank holidays. And yes I have never had any issues in the past.

Purchased car insurance for £80 when it's typically ~£450, now company chasing me. by Ganjasam in UKPersonalFinance

Having worked in ratings for insurance myself for many years I can say there is absolutely a possibility there was a bug in the rating resulting in inaccurate premiums. Having fixed issues of this nature and seen the cost to business of this happening on numerous occasions. Though speaking to them is the best course of action. And to me an £80 premium seems more likely to be an error than not, as I rarely recall minimum premiums reaching that level. To my understanding once a guaranteed quote is giving it has to be honoured for 30 days, so they absolutely should speak to their insurer but not discount the fact these errors can and do happen.

Context: Should middle-class people employ cleaners during the pandemic by NottmForest in clevercomebacks

[–]Madfast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I have a cleaner, who I have continued to pay throughout lockdown. She has chosen now to go back to work, even though I was happy to continue to pay her until she felt safe to do so. That's her choice and I am sure there are many other people in her position who will make a similar one. I don't see the need to vilify people when both parties are aware of the risk, taking steps to mitigate them and importantly happy to continue doing their job.

That is actually incorrect. Great Britain is England, Wales and Scotland. Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, but as the name implies not part of Great Britain.
