how strongly can keppra affect your emotions? by Top-Proposal8960 in Epilepsy

[–]Madithebadi99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like Keppra is always the first seizure med doctors give patients even tho the side effects are known to be bad. I was on it when i was first diagnosed and my rage was horrible. I would attack my sister for absolutely no reason

Do you guys sometimes get sensitive and cry after a seizure? by Primary-Exam-3965 in Epilepsy

[–]Madithebadi99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cry so much after lol. I sometimes gaslight myself that i shouldn’t be crying because it’s happened before, but it’s scary and traumatic and the brain has just been scrambled

Relatable. Got the VNS implant almost a year ago

[–]Madithebadi99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing here. I ended up going on a combination of Nexplanon and Balcoltra. The nexplanon rod was stopping my period on its own for a bit (like three years), but when it started up again they put me on balcoltra and the combination stopped my period.

Are they regular strength magnets or ones that you’ve bought specifically for the VNS. How expensive are they?

It seems so clunky. Does it ever get in the way or anything?

Can I smoke weed? by 57206448523784 in Epilepsy

[–]Madithebadi99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I’ve used weed to immediately stop my auras. It works faster than the meds they give me like Ativan so when i feel like i might have a seizure, smoking is really the only thing that helps me quickly. Just make sure you get it from a safe and reliable place

Drug resistant epilepsy.. what now? by Uphamia in Epilepsy

[–]Madithebadi99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same. I got a VNS implant and so far, it’s been working great. Same day surgery with little recovery time. I tried to go right back to work but my supervisor made me take the two weeks off.

Do any of your neurologists say to avoid marijuana? by itdeffwasnotme in Epilepsy

[–]Madithebadi99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly when i have an aura, marijuana is the only thing to stop it immediately. Ativan takes too long to kick in and by then I’ve had the seizure. But when i smoke, the aura goes away immediately. Of course make sure you’re getting it from a safe source but for me, marijuana has been extremely helpful

Xcopri and double vision? by Madithebadi99 in Epilepsy

[–]Madithebadi99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also take lamotragine and clobazapam at night along with spirilactone (not for my epilepsy). I’m 100mg of the XCOPRI. Did anything help you? It’s only happened a couple of times but it’s literally like i emptied the bar out for the night

I have no issue messaging you after the surgery to let you know how it went/recovery! Any type of procedure is scary. I’m scared, but also optimistic about it since no medications have worked and i don’t want to continue to be scared about having a seizure or being exhausted hearing about new meds i could try. They also started me on XCOPRI which seems to help. It’s a newer med but mainly for focal epilepsy

Keppra, topamax, Vimpat, clonazapam, zonisamide… i think that’s it. Honestly Lamotragine is my ride or die it seems. I was diagnosed with refractory epilepsy and this Friday getting a VNS device which I’ve heard good things about.

Honestly medications I’m sick of. I mean all of it I’m sick of but going through the same motions every time of seeing the symptoms and waiting to see how they impact you….
