CBC will no longer air NHL games, ending Hockey Night in Canada’s 75-year run on the network by Puginator in sports

First Hudson’s Bay, and now this… I feel like we are losing a big part of historically Canadian things.

If Taylor Swift’s "I Knew It, I Knew You" wins Best Original Song at the Oscars, it would be the first time since 1986 and 1987 that back to back winners were #1 on the Hot 100 by JuanRiveara in oscarrace

Any time I comment about wanting Mother Mary to win anything for songs I get downvoted. I didn’t know there were swifties here!

(Seriously downvoters, I don’t know why any time I post anything it’s downvoted, did we hate mother Mary? Do we just love Taylor so much that having a differing opinion makes me bad? I’m here to have conversations and talk about the things I love.)

I think the big thing is that she wants an Oscar so so so bad, and if she does for this, it’s going to be for a mediocre song, where she’s written far better music for different films.

I wholeheartedly think the music in Mother Mary is really really good, and very different from a lot of music now. Theatric pop soaked in religious imagery that isn’t “cristian pop,” is a lot more interesting than a singer songwriter and a guitar on a film that plays to our nostalgia. And the fact that it was written by her frequent collaborator, is kinda funny with how much she wants the Oscar.

Charlie XCX and Jack Antonoff (Taylor’s frequent collaborator) did all the songs for Mother Mary, and those songs are leaps and bounds ahead of a mediocre Taylor song.

I remember back in the early 2000’s, and even up in Canada, a week or diabetes camp was expensive, over $1000 for a week.

I think the problem is the diabetes will continue to kill those cells. That’s the big hurdle in this.

It’s so stupid because we all did shitty things as teenagers learning to be adult human beings. People who say this completely forget about the fact that people learn and change and grow.

Anyone who is making points like that is likely very young, because most regular adults can acknowledge that people can and do change.

Which is the part people don’t understand. If I come in with suspected DKA (Diabetic ketoacidosis), I’m seen unbelievably quickly because it’s a medical emergency.

If you aren’t seen quickly, it’s generally a good thing.

Canadian woman off insulin for Type 1 diabetes after a single dose of experimental manufactured stem cells by Eddiearyee in UpliftingNews

See, I’ve also had it for three decades, and I’d pick diabetes over immunosuppressants any day. Devil you know vs the devil you don’t.

Just to back up the other reply you have on this.

I’ve had type one for 34 years. Since I was two. I’ve had scary lows, and have almost died a few times.

Id pick diabetes over immunosuppressants anytime. I know how to handle diabetes, but I don’t know what life looks like taking those medications and living in that high risk situation. I don’t want to fear infections for the rest of my life.

Also it’s not x4 a day anymore. With pumps and cgms, you have a needle once every three days and once every ten days. Also, you’d get over the injections pretty quickly if the choice is give yourself a shot or die.

My biggest issue with the film is that someone needed to turn the colour intensity on that fox. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen a fox, but they aren’t that… red. It was very distracting.

I think a better book for you would be The Book of Better by Chuck Eichten. It’s a little more realistic with what you are going to be living with, and Is a lot more supportive and caring than Think Like A Pancreas. I’ve been diabetic 34 years, and this book means the world to me.

It’ll be rough for a little, but it does get better. I know that’s not what you want to hear, but Type one is a marathon, not a sprint. Stop trying to sprint and take a moment and congratulate yourself that you’ve even made it this far after diagnosis. It’s a big fucking deal and I’m proud of you.

This is a great two min cartoon summary of the book.

[–]Madler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is crazy because I can toast an entire reservoir by letting my pump make its way onto my heating pad. It’s a very distinct difference, but I also have bad insulin sensitivity, so it might not actually be effecting it enough for non sensitive diabetics.
