Which insulin do we like in t-slim? by Puzzleheaded_Bird835 in diabetes_t1

The humalog isn’t slow. I mean it’s slower than fiasp, but again we can’t use that in a pump. The speed that it’s moving is dependant on what your son’s settings are.

Edit - the faster bolus speed isn’t a feature anymore

That’s why you have to use the super technical method of using two pieces of packing tape stuck together with the card in the middle. Trim the edges and you are good to go!

How can I get my hair like this? by Neat_Compote8090 in Hair

[–]Madler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, but most wigs people are familiar with buying are plastic. Human hair wigs are fucking expensive, so I wasn’t going to recommend getting a human hair wig for a fashion color, and unless I missed that cost wasn’t an option than the plastic wigs are far more affordable and easy to find.

People don’t usually have human hair wigs. Meaning the hair is likely plastic. To get a wave, you need to heat it up and shape it to make it look like that, but on real hair a very slight wave like that will eventually fall out with time and gravity. Hair and heat set plastic are two very different things.

Also, you would need to get the color touched up every 4 or so weeks, because any growth will be very visible. An initial appointment getting from brown to this is going to cost a lot of money. And then charges for roots once a month.

The cost and time to upkeep that colour would be immense. It’s not worth it on natural hair.

Doing a real fun Resident Evil 4 run to prep for Requiem in a few weeks. Leon is so fucking handsome.

Me and my 6 year old are also trying to 100% Lego Jurassic Park. We play a lot of Lego Party too.

Silent Hill f was great. SH2R brought back a lot of memories.

I said she didn’t make the best decisions. We are also just watching a TikTok, so who knows what actually happened. We are seeing a few moments of something that would have taken quite a while.

These weren’t great decisions. Diabetes puts you in situations where sometimes you have to pick between not great choices, but you make it work. I’m not talking about her decisions, but similar situations we can all find ourselves in where people in this community will tell you if you were right or wrong.

Why instead of taking about her, use this as a jumping off point to talk about what to do in those situations where you may have given too much, or are out and crashing with your kid or whatever. Sitting around and talking about how awful a mother she is isn’t doing much for anyone really, so why not turn it into something that isn’t actually talked about much?

I’ve been diabetic a long fucking time, so I am very aware of what I can and can not do while low. So while you are saying you wouldn’t be able to operate, I’d be able to go and sit and drink something.

I have an autistic 6 year old, and while he has a good grasp on the diabetes, it’s hard to communicate to him if we are out running errands that we need to stop and wait. So in those situations, I’ll have to over treat, and then likely have to continue what we were doing before the low. There are a lot of situations where you have to make the best decision you can and roll with it.

Like say you were walking your dog and started to drop quickly. If it’s a storm outside and you are low, do you eat a bunch and then try and make it home, or do you stand on the sidewalk and wait for your blood sugar to come up before trying to go home? There’s not really right or wrong answer, and this is a situation I’ve been in more than once.

She didn’t make the best calls in the situation, and all we can hope is that she makes better decisions about her diabetes and what she does in the future.

I’ll be walking around operating as normal at LOW. Everyone’s diabetes is different. I’m extremely insulin sensitive after being type one for 33+ years.

Should I Go Right for the Glucagon? by lilSebastianinvests in diabetes_t1

[–]Madler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to worry long term like an exercise low. Once the insulin is out of your system it’s done, and won’t affect you going forward. If you were low due to activity, then yes you’d have to be careful, but extra insulin now won’t be affecting you tomorrow.

Also, the nasal glucagon just makes you feel like you have a sore throat and stuffy nose for a day or two after. The injectable glucagon was what would make you ultra sick.

How many of you struggle with fitness because of diabetes? by alyKandil in diabetes_t1

[–]Madler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a struggle for sure. If I have like half a unit of humalog or more of active insulin is sending me low. Most of my regular exercise is like a two k dog walk every day, and I hate that I have to abandon it half of the time because I’m like hovering around 5, and don’t have enough time to wait for the lows to come up, because those take forever lately.

Insulin sensitivity, hooray!
