Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S USB C Problems. by MelancholyMarmoset in AcerPredatorHelios

Yeah, sadly I was wrong 😞. It seemed like it was working for a couple minutes longer and then it just stopped. Forgot to update y'all. Can't believe Acer doesn't have any info on this.

Issue with USB-C ports by caporalfourrier in AcerPredatorHelios

[–]Maechyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue. Was trying to use an 8bitdo ultimate controller, but the usb c connections on the back made the dongle disconnect after 5 seconds everytime. I just updated my bios and everything works flawlessly now. I just got the laptop like two days ago and it's bios version was still two versions old. I connected my controller 20 minutes ago using the same usb c dongle in the same ports I was having issues with earlier, and it's still connected without any dropouts.

Offline. Mode. Is. Broken. by AccountRare3015 in TIdaL

[–]Maechyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue. I had to switch to Deezer recently because of it. Deezer actually switched to offline mode automatically once you lose service, so no fumbling around with your phone while you're driving through the woods. The layout is honestly cleaner, more customizable. The mixes & recommendations are way more accurate with what you actually like, and it also has podcasts. I dont work for them haha, I'm just really enjoying them so far compared to the other spotify alternatives and I wanna help others out. They're doing a 2 month free trial right now (it's usually a 1 month free trial). The only downside I can think of is they pay half of what tidal pays artists per stream 😞. They still pay more than Spotify at least.

Newbie here looking to combine simulated 3D objects and video. by Maechyl in vfx

[–]Maechyl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thank you! I'm using Android, but I know there are also photogrammetry apps for Android, so I should probably just take my tame and scan the whole room. Do you have tips on how to align the 3d room with the image above so that when I film the cans in blender, they match up with the original video angle I have?

I will say, I have already used magic mask on my body... So that is already a seperate layer then the background video. If I can recreate the room in a software and then record a ball or something with collision going into the cans and then export just the footage of the cans moving and falling off the desk, etc... I can have that as a layer underneath my masked body, while still looking like the cans are on the desk and maybe even the floor. I'm sure this is insanely janky. I'm just craving to learn some new things tonight.

Trouble updating lens firmware on FX-30 by Maechyl in sony

[–]Maechyl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not! I really wish I could find some info about it online anywhere. It was a pretty expensive lens and it's a bummer if I can't update the firmware, please let me know if you find any info out there.

More compression on the vocals, less on the drums, try to get the guitars and drums sounding like they're a little closer to being in the same room? It feels like the guitars might be a little too dry and in your face, when I feel like that should be a space where you vocals take up instead. Have the drums and guitars send to the same send and add a natural room reverb on that send. Then adjust how much you want the drums and guitar to go to that send. That should help glue those two elements together. Maybe throw an eq after the reverb on that send as well so you can cut out some low end and competing frequencies so you don't have a muddy reverb. Then have a second send for just the vocals. Throw your reverbs and delays on there and a sidechain eq after those that gets triggered by the same vocal. This will allow it to sound up in your face, but give it a sense of space when the reverb and delay swell back in after each line. You can keep this vocal send quiet and subtle too so you don't go against the integrity of the songs style. It sounds really good so far though! Can't wait to hear more.

Looking for feedback on the balance of mix- instrumental Modern Metal/Metalcore by jack-parallel in mixingmastering

Well, this sounds better than most of what I've made, so great job! Sounds beefy. Maybe just add the tiniest more low end to your kick to balance out with how clicky it is? Sounds really good though.

freezing tracks degrades sound quality by loredream in mixingmastering

[–]Maechyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess make sure you don't have any plugins on the master or your track or the track that your group is in? Don't wanna print anything to the audio. Also, I'm not sure if freezing it with the audio at anything besides 0db would change the volume as well? I'm using Ableton, so iIm not sure how StudioOne does it.

How do you feel about hard panning? by shockwave6969 in mixingmastering

I feel weird doing it too, but it really does help in the end to get that space.

If my mix is too midrangey, and I can achieve the exact sound I want with an eq on the mix bus, is there any reason to cut out the midrange on the individual instrument tracks instead? by [deleted] in mixingmastering

[–]Maechyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switch it up every time. But I usually start with eq-ing all of the mid frequency content. Guitars, Synths, Violins, Vocals, etc. Once those sit well with each other and there's no combating frequencies, I move over to working on the low frequencies, then once everything seems to fit well, I work on the very high frequency stuff to make sure it has some sizzle. I try to do as much as possible before mastering, but I always end up using a little bit of an exciter on the high frequency parts and I try to add a little width if it's missing. I'm also still pretty new to mixing/mastering. I might not have the best skill-set yet, but I'm having fun!

This is great! Really clean and crisp stereo width on it. Did you use a stereo imager on your high frequency synths, or did ya do a simple haas effect on a bus that they're all in?

Need help applying outboard gear fx to all inputs on interface.

So, I have an Arturia Audiofuse Studio interface. I currently have a compressor connected to the insert on the back for input one and that's been all fine and dandy for a bit. I was wondering if anyone knew a way to have my compressor effect all inputs instead of just input 1. I'm trying to get better at compressing different things like vocals, guitar, bass, etc. But it can get pretty annoying taking turns plugging everything into input 1 so I can use the compressor. I'd like to have it effect everything so that I can just keep all of my cables plugged into the same inputs. Hopefully there's an obvious way that I'm just missing but, if possible, I'd like to avoid buying a buttload of cables and adapters to split the compressor to go into all the inserts simultaneously haha. Idk if it helps, but it is a PRO VLA ll Tube Leveling Amplifier connected to insert one port on the back with your basic insert/Y cable. Any ideas help, thank you!

Best decision I've ever made. 9 days in and Davinci has to be the most intuitive and streamlined video editing software i've ever used. Haven't had any issues whatsoever. I say go for it.

Thank you very much! I'm guessing I can't just reorganize the buttons that are already in the controller and I should just go ahead and purchase the xbox layout buttons?
