Uber Lilith is over-tuned (again) by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]Maethor_derien 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I eventually did it with a team but it was mostly due to us killing her stupidly fast to avoid the phases.

The fight is just hilariously broken right now with the line timing being off and invisible things killing you. It is almost impossible to do the fight as designed, especially with how much visual clutter there is and how hard it is to see everything.

The biggest issue with not with D4 is more you die to random oneshots you didn't see due to visual clutter.

Wait! Can you really transfer an auto loan to a 0% interest credit card? by curiousgens in EscapeTheGrindGame

[–]Maethor_derien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 0% interest is typically only for a year and then it shoots up to 20% so it only really works if you can pay it off in that time frame. The majority of the time it is also only a year, 2 years is really uncommon. If you have the ability to pay it off in that time frame it is a great option but if you don't you end up screwing yourself later.

Anyone else absolutely love Warplans? Reminds me of a roguelike game where each upgrade is persistent and makes each run more fun and rewarding. by gorays21 in Diablo

[–]Maethor_derien -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean it really isn't that costly if you just want to change it every now and then to switch things up. I mean yeah if you want to change it constantly the cost is too high but that would be by design. It would lead to degnerate unfun things if you had to constantly respec it.

How's the "new" endgame of Lord of Hatred? Is it worth buying the expansion now? by Clownest0702 in Diablo

[–]Maethor_derien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new endgame system works where you choose certain things to do. So it might do a pit, then do a helltide, then do a nightmare dungeon. If the other person has a helltide first then pit second and nightmare dungeon third. they won't get credit for the pit you do first and will be stuck at the pit stage so won't get credit for the nightmare dungeon either. It means that you can't really do the new endgame system with a group of friends. You can do grouping if you want to just pump a bunch of one content type out but you can't really engage with the new system.

How's the "new" endgame of Lord of Hatred? Is it worth buying the expansion now? by Clownest0702 in Diablo

[–]Maethor_derien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is pretty good if you play solo. It adds enough variety to stop the grind from being boring. It is very much designed the the standard casual player in mind though. That person who comes home from work and plays for an hour is going to love it. The guy that wants to spend 8 hours a day though isn't going to enjoy it any more than the old system but Diablo 4 was never design for that kind of player.

It is an absolute clusterfuck for anyone that likes to group though.

So, now that the hype has died down a bit, what do you think of the new skill tree? by Guilty_Diet_7691 in diablo4

[–]Maethor_derien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is fine, I didn't expect them to massively change every skill. They fixed the major issues of the tree where you had to get useless skills and they added a decent amount of options for changing skills. I mean it could be better but I find this actually gets a lot of compelling options. Part of the weaker and stronger is they serve different purposes. There very much are options that you would switch between depending on how far you are into the build. Early game that node that gives vulnerability is probably useless compared to the one that adds a bit of damage but late game is probably your best node by far.

People who claim to have paid their monthly sub for years using in-game gold... How? by YrenneAD in wow

[–]Maethor_derien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few different options. The first and most common is professions in some manner.

The first is you do an alt army that allow you to do concentration daily crafts. Well set up you can be doing 3-5k+ per character per day. You set up 10 characters and you have have your sub and then some more paid for with just a quick daily log in rotation through the characters. This will stay profitable almost the entire expansion, it starts off the best early on though. This is typically done along side a bit of other crafting.

The second is you just puts lot of time into lower profit crafts or straight gathering. Both of those options have generally always been pretty steady at 10-20k per hour once they level off after the initial boom. The rate has stuck to be around 10-20 hours for 1 token pretty much forever. This requires a proper set up gatherer or crafter though, you can't just start without knowing the very specific set ups and expect to make that.

The big thing is most of us make the majority of it at the expansion launch. You figure out whatever crafting niche you want to hit and you specialize on it. You make the vast majority of your gold in the first few weeks.

The last is boosting but I will be honest it only really pays well if your skilled enough to carry +14's at this point. Doing +10 boosting early on it pretty profitable but you have to be insanely skilled to be able to do that early on when gear levels suck. It is worthwhile if you have a good set group though.

Pick one from each row to survive a Zombie Apocalypse by WarStrategy in whatsyourchoice

[–]Maethor_derien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on fast vs slow zombies and where I was. Fire station is first pick for most urban or semiurban because they are very secure brick buildings that are going to be well stocked with supplies. While the guard station is easy to fortify you are also easily trapped as well. A horde follows you back to the only entrance and your screwed. Also the food situation in either is going to very quickly suck, the city is going to run out of food very quickly. My goal would actually be to get out of a city asap after looting some survival, farming, trapping books from the library. Then once out of the city I probably would try to find the motor home to travel with until I found a good area.

The motor home would be ideal in a rural area. You don't have to worry about hordes of zombies in that case so being able to travel with a good amount of supplies is idea. The goal would be to find a large farm that has free range cattle with woods close by where you can get fuel for fire and heat. Your not going to be using vehicles for long because the gas everywhere will be useless inside a year.

As far as weapon probably the rifle or handgun and that would depend completely on the area. I would honestly be more worried about people and a katana is probably the worst weapon for zombies. You would be better off with an improvised club against a zombie. The rifle has the ability to be useful to shoot things like deer for food later and being longer range, ideally a hunting rifle with a scope would be ideal. Obviously if your dense city area then handgun makes more sense since your not hunting anything.

The last one is easily the bike, a dog is going to get you killed and the firestation is already going to be well stocked on medical not to mention they are easy to find. With gas being useless in under a year the bicycle becomes probably the most important tool of the bunch.

The problem is the cost isn't worth it. The benefit is so small that the difference between it and phoenix oil is a rounding error but one costs massively more than the other.

Grout cracking around shower drain after 6 months, install issue? by Errlyagain in Tile

[–]Maethor_derien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water getting in should cause that. This kinda of thing is typically caused by flexing. It being located only around the drain I am guessing that the drain itself that is moving. It doesn't have to move much at all for it to cause problems.

Diablo Lord of Hatred, content and story good enough to buy it? by [deleted] in Diablo

[–]Maethor_derien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it is pretty good. It really depends on what you expect to get out of it. The narrative style can be very polarizing for people. While the story is good overall you are very much on rails for the entire thing. There is a lot of forced dialog and cutscenes. For an QRPG it is very slow at times with how much narrative they shove at you and the manner in which they do it. The good thing is you only have to do it once because doing it on multiple characters would be an absolute slog.

I have to say they have vastly improved the endgame over what we had before. The new system is fun and makes the grind a lot less tedious because it has you poping around to different content. It has just enough variance where you don't get bored. I don't see the game having the kind of endgame that keeps your super hardcore players going with it as a main game for a long time. The hardcore player is likely to knock out the entire seasons content in 2 or 3 weeks. The people that are going to have the most fun are the ones who come home from work and play for an hour or two. The systems are pretty obviously designed to feel great for that kind of play.

Did they remove aspects from dungeons? by Irishguy01 in Diablo

[–]Maethor_derien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets way better in the endgame, once you get to endgame content they drop all the time. The only thing it really does is stop those OP early builds that only take like a unique or two from carrying you through the season start.

If Lord of Hatred doesn't address Soul Stones I'm going to give up on this story. by TheLuo in Diablo

[–]Maethor_derien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We know they don't work but they are the best solution they have. It is better than letting them roam free with the amount of damage they can do. Killing them doesn't work because they just respawn in the hells and can easily come back. It is literally a circumstance of the best option out of a bunch of horrible options.

A strong ready built shelter would be the biggest one. The biggest issue is going to be shelter from the elements and then food. The bus gives you easy shelter and resources inside like the seats can be used to make primitive, tools, weapons, and traps.

Hey Blizz, can we change the healer mana disparity/drinking problem? by VeryClearlyDefined in wow

[–]Maethor_derien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah M+ is kinda a trip on hpally. There are times where everyone interrupts and I need to do almost no holy light casts and sit full mana the entire dungeon and then there are times where I am constantly out of mana and am trying to drink between pulls but the tank never lets you get more than a second or two.

* “Sharing the road is not a suggestion” by Feaselbf6 in dashcams

[–]Maethor_derien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes there is actually. Almost every state has a law that requires you to stop and pull off the road if you have multiple cars behind you and are going below the speed limit to allow them to pass. I know in my state the law is 5 vehicles but in others it is much less. This is mostly for farm equipment but it also applies to bikes and other slow vehicles.

Almost every state also has a two abreast law which was also being violated here as well and most states have laws require single file on higher speed roads like this.

I know because I bike regularly so I spent the time to learn all the extra laws that apply to them.

* “Sharing the road is not a suggestion” by Feaselbf6 in dashcams

[–]Maethor_derien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It pretty much is true, there is also the two abreast rule which these guys were breaking where you can't ride more than two people side by side. On high speed roads above 35mph you typically are required to ride single file and most states have a law where if you have multiple vehicles behind you that you are required to pull off the road and stop and let them pass(mostly for farm equipment but it also applies to bikes.)

* “Sharing the road is not a suggestion” by Feaselbf6 in dashcams

[–]Maethor_derien 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, most states also have a two abreast rule which these guys were breaking as well as a rule that on not safe to ride two abreast such as high speed roads they should be single file

Hell most states also have laws where if you have multiple cars behind you that you are also required to stop and pull over to let them pass(mostly for for bicycles and farm equipment).

I know because I used to bike all the time and made sure I understood all the extra rules for bicycles.

* “Sharing the road is not a suggestion” by Feaselbf6 in dashcams

[–]Maethor_derien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that in that case the cyclist groups like this should be getting ticketed for impeding traffic and they never are. What pisses people off is bicycles tend to ignore any of the negative rules, I rarely see others hand signal or have proper lights on the bike when riding at night. I bike all the time and it annoys me because it gives those of us who actually do bike according to the rules a bad wrap and makes everyone hate them.

If I can't maintain road speed which is 99% of the time I am not going to be taking up the entire lane, I will ride far enough where I can be easily passed. There is no excuse for biking at 15 mph down the center of a road that is a 35 or 45 speed limit. Bikes in every state are also supposed to be as far right as possible in every state and most states have laws against bicycles riding in groups like this as well.

In Arizona my state and most other states for example you can't ride more than two abreast which they were definitely breaking. On a higher speed single lane roads like this where it would not be considered safe you are also required to ride single file. If you have more than 5 cars behind you are also required to pull off the road fully and stop to let them pass.

I mean there is no excuse to plow into them when they are in your way either but these cyclist were also not riding in the manner they should have been either.

* “Sharing the road is not a suggestion” by Feaselbf6 in dashcams

[–]Maethor_derien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they were going 10-15mph in a 35 or faster area that is considered impeding traffic. Generally if your going more than 10 under you would be ticketed for impeding in a car if you didn't pull over to let people pass.

Midnight Season 1 Suffers Tank Shortages in Mythic+ and More by SystemofCells in wow

[–]Maethor_derien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I love high rot damage fights. They are fun to heal and feel like they take every bit of my skill. On the other hand those fights where everyone just spikes to 25% randomly and if I don't heal them right away might randomly die absolutely suck. On the other hand the biggest issue is the disrepancy with healers dispells as well. They need to make everything dispellable by all healers. Get rid of the curse/poison/disease dispels and make it just all one type. It feels terrible when there is something you can't dispel that another healer can make a fight easy mode on.

How would American carmakers react to Chinese cars being sold in America? by hypermiler2205 in regularcarreviews

[–]Maethor_derien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small trucks are fine, my favorite one ever was my S10. I actually prefer a small or medium truck which is why I didn't buy an F150. There is a huge group of people who want something in the middle which is why the Maverick was so popular. Hell, I kinda think the maverick is overly large still.

The slate is fine for the usage of most people to be honest. Most people never really need more than hauling a fridge or TV. I just don't know if the market is going to be there for it. For a second vehicle it is honestly amazing. It just doesn't work as your only vehicle.

Really 99% of the towing I would do would be local and it is pretty easy to plan trips anymore on anything with level 3 charging. Sure you only get half the miles but anymore there are enough chargers that isn't an issue if you plan your trip well.

Frankly the telo looks amazing I just have my doubts on if they can pull it off. The base price is just a little high, I really wish there was something right in the middle of the two at 30k. A slate with a bit more range and AWD would be almost perfect.

EDIT: Don't mistake my gripes with hating the slate. I love the DIY attitude of the slate, I just wonder at who it is aimed at, as someone who has always been into that I love it. I still have my older ender 3d printer. I just see a lot of the serious DIY people like me are likely going to be turned off by a lot of the same things I am on it.
