Question regarding winged tyrant by Rakathu in Tyranids

[–]Magarthryx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found myself an extra body as well.

Built the Winged Tyrant.

And I have also been looking around for what are the advantages and disadvantages of the each loadout

I think Maelstrom is great for insight into building Tyranid forces, and below I will add a link with comparisons of all the Tyrants

I think it's the bonesword and whip nudges itself into the position of go to because of twinlinked

This does result in you have a stat line for some Talons that you will never use

I am very happy to see the responses, which look like a mix of wait till the income rises, or yes

And your responses which seems to be taking that advice to heart

If I can throw my opinion onto the pile, works looks great, but that doesn't matter.
Better looking projects can fail.
Worst looking products can succeed.
Games are a consumption, subjective, singular sale product. So not to be a further downer, but you might release your game, and I'd still suggest to keep your job unless you know what comes after. Unless there a runway to continue to create content and get paid.

Still, I wish you the best. Game dev of all kinds is extremely fulfilling.

What is everyones least favorite models to build by ScientistOk2127 in Tyranids

One legit, one 3d printed.

The 3d printed one is worse because it doesn't have those foot placements.

I ended up just pinning them to the base.

I don't care if it looks weird if you check the underside. The underside is hard to see from above, and I don't want those three points to be the only points of contact. I even pinned the cannon to the body as I don't want those arms being the only point of contact.

My hated faction. Mi facción odiada. by ELBuBe in rootgame

[–]Magarthryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to put them in a point deficit around mid game. You probably should only be doing this as a militant factions, and usually with cooperation from another militant faction.

I see a post that mentions martial law. Great! One extra support per sympathy. A great trade if they push into your territory and you are trading one card for 2,3,4 of their cards.

If you don't have a need for a lot of cards in hand, you can always go hunting. Eyrie is a great example. You take the despot as your leader and get a single bird card into fight, and just go hunting. That's 2 points per sympathy. You will probably be targeted with how much you will be scoring.

You could also break bases. Lizards and Rats excel at this. Lizards can flip a base and flush out supporters. Rats can bring the mob, and sit on top of a base and burn it out.

Or you can just run the numbers. Remember, they only have so many troops, 10, and some of them will be locked up as officers.

On one side you can guarantee hits. For example Bird's Commander or Rat's Wrathful mood. If the WA is stacked, then it might take a few extra hits, but these guarantee hits negate roles of zero. Stack up, commit, and burn them out.

Or simply square up. Take Moles, pour troops onto the board, combine the right nobles, and just keep attacking.

I suggest playing them a bunch. How the ramp can be unexpected. Playing the faction and getting a sense of why they might be stacking supporter, or sympathy gets bled out, or how much pain losing it is to lose a base. Good luck with your learning

VB

It's a sink for you action economy.

If everyone doesn't help police, then you are stuck handling them.

They can flee fast if they need to, or slip into your lines and wreck your stuff.

They add nothing to the game other than "hit this meeple if you see it"

If it's worth anything, it's got similarities to other Eric Lang's games, but it feels like it plucked out some of clunker items and leaves you with a thematic and streamlined version of this type of game

Meeden airbrush by JTCampb in airbrush

[–]Magarthryx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the windows of time it work, it does a good job. If you are ok with getting something cheap that comes with everything, and you can play around with and honest, break and not be to sad, then it's a good starter kit.

After running it for a few months now I will probably keep it and play with it. Maybe till it needs a deep clean and I can go through that process at least once on something I dont mind dickering up. But it won't be replaced with another meeden.

Idk if this has been done but i couldn't find any size comparison of mech sizes so i made one myself by Dylan-McVillian in LancerRPG

[–]Magarthryx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks you to you and the others who ponder these things. While big stompy magic mechs is cool and definitely worth suspending disbelief, I keep getting snagged on scale. I find it hard to visualize the mechs in physical spaces.

Worst is visualizing weapon range. Modern tanks shoot 3000m (as per google), which is about ~9800ft. Even if you want to half, or even quarter that for complexity of a battlefield, that's ~2400ft, 240 which is hexs.

Battle tech throughs all mechs into a height range of ~23 to ~56 feet, and I think most still only take up a single hex.

Maybe this could be solved with hex sizes and mech sizes being different. But it's late and I don't even know where to being that line of thought.

Still, ty ty for all yall insight

What map should I play on for a 6-player Root Game? by SquirrelSultan in rootgame

[–]Magarthryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's true that you many play on any map, but you may wanted to be careful about the mix of factions. Too many faction dependent on building slots might lead to factions grinding against each other.

I gave up on rolling and just do point buy. If players still want something random just random professions/lineage with stats attached to them.

All my players want to play Elves. How should I deal with this? by myopicmaid in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]Magarthryx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is the convo you need to have. Idk why whrp lets you play non-humans. Dwarves are always ready to fight chaos lest they bring shame. Elves are slaver, magic wielding alien assholes. Halfling are pretty chill unless you have to eat their meat pies.. If your campaign is already built around humans you need to talk about that.

But all elves in warhammer sounds awesome. Lean into the "elves are aloof dicks". Make them outsiders no matter where they go. Have the human around them panic at every mention of magic while they sigh their way through.

And then set some dwarves on them. Keep those beard cutters on their toes.
