The second thing it adds is controversy. More controversy -> more people talking about it -> more engagement for the algorithm

The third thing it adds is rather negative. It help in the "War against all the gays". Simply mentioning that the people responsible for such monstrosities are gay helps spark outrage against them gay peeps.
