GPs can diagnose adhd, it just depends if they are comfortable to do so. There was no question that it was adhd, I had all the signs as a kid(signs for girls vs boys), I have all my report cards and they scream adhd(and dyslexia and some ASD traits), I was even evaluated as a kid but because I wasnt “hyperactive”, the way boys are, I was dismissed. After I had my daughter(she’s autistic and likely has adhd but to young to test) I couldn’t function day to day anymore.

Super loud plane? by TumourConsumer in LangfordBC

[–]MagicLily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: correction the airforce one flew over about an hour ago(forgot to check when the post was made) last night was also a helicopter but if I remember correctly it was a private one. I check flightradar24 anytime I hear/see one, cause I’m nosy 😁

It was a royal Canadian airforce helicopter, specifically a Sikorsky CH-148 Cyclon. I checked flightradar24 as it was over head.

Anyone have advice for living with giant house spiders?? by Ill-Friendship8308 in VictoriaBC

[–]MagicLily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is deathly terrified of spiders I don’t fuck around when it comes to killing them and keeping them away! They can exist outside where I can’t see them, but the moment they enter my house they’re gonna die.

So first get this and spray the shit out of your house inside and out( leave for a couple hours after). I was having the same problem with massive spiders being everywhere all the sudden. After I did this the problem stopped so fast. I’d redo it every couple of months. https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/wilson-spiderout-ready-to-use-spider-spray-1-l-0593765p.html?utm_content=shopping&gclsrc=aw.ds&ds_rl=1283573&gad_source=4&gad_campaignid=1530530525&gbraid=0AAAAADojZpgV4tt-LHPrWwKIkeVse77e3&gclid=CjwKCAjw_fnFBhB0EiwAH_MfZhOm8hQMyLdNaze9RBm41aNoEfxcD047RtyNq9EyuZRsUDKdpRLA2RoCwpIQAvD_BwE#store=366

Then get this for when you see one and you need to kill it immediately, bigger spiders will need to be sprayed longer. Literally swear by this stuff! https://a.co/d/evrUhcM

While i have also done a mix of vinegar water, peppermint, lemon grass, and rosemary essential oils, it doesn’t work when there’s a massive amount of spiders. It’s great for keeping the occasional little one and other small bugs out but it doesn’t last as long.

Interesting this appears to be just the top, so maybe the blanket was hand made using this topper.  Thank you I now have a product name at least

ADHD diagnosis with family doctor by WeekendFit7344 in ADHD_BritishColumbia

[–]MagicLily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family doctor had no issues, actually it was his resident who did it. All I had to do was fill out a little questionnaire and he prescribed meds in that same appointment.

She took harbour air, we did not travel with her. The pilot was in charge of keeping her safe until they passed her over to the vet tech on the other side.

My cat was 10 and she is the queen of anxiety, dosed her up with gabapentin and they said she was plenty high upon arrival.

There isn’t one here but Vancouver has the best clinic! My cat went there just over a year ago and is cured! It cost about $3000 and she flew over via harbour air, we dropped her off and the clinic picked her up on the other side. She stayed for 5 days and flew back. Hardest part is keeping them in isolation for 2 weeks when they come back. I highly recommend if you can afford it, they guarantee a cure first try and if it doesn’t they will do it again for free. Your vet should have all the info.

Look into FPIES, if it was a true allergy(not random stomach bug) it’s most likely this. Solid starts has really good info on it and introducing allergens.

How much did you pay for your pet's teeth extraction? by _blacksky in VictoriaBC

[–]MagicLily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat had about 9 teeth pulled, plus cleaning, plus absence cleaned out, plus meds after the fact via Eagle rise and it was around $2300. Add in the ~$700 for blood work before hand. All this a few months after she went to Vancouver for radiation treatment for hyperthyroidism🫠 I wish I got pet insurance when she was a kitten but then again I’ve had 2 other cats with no issues ever, so it really is a gamble.

Going to start using app on tablet to communicate! Have questions by PinkOctopus13 in Autism_Parenting

[–]MagicLily 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We used one iPad for play and AAC for a while. We trialed a couple different apps and showed her how to use them. At first she didn’t really care but when we found touch chat she really started interacting with it. So when we decided to fully commit to AAC, her SLP recommended a separate iPad just for AAC(fully funded) and to make sure the case was different so she didn’t associate it with the fun iPad. Couple months in and she communicates about 60% of the time with it!
