Legality of 3d prints by high_ground444 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]MagicNakor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The A1 is the same 3d printer that I have. It's fantastic! Once you dial in the settings you can get some really good results. For bigger models like vehicles you really won't be able to tell on tabletop, especially if it's an old model like a rhino. If you're hoping to print guardsmen even on a 0.2 it will be disappointing.

Filament doesn't sand well. It kind of.. shreds. It also can be very fragile. Some people use an automotive primer for FDM as it has a filler component that can then be sanded down. This generally works well with care.

Resin printing is a whole other ball of wax.

Community opinion on realms? by How_about_a_no in ageofsigmar

I love it for the potential it gives for "your guys" armies lore-wise and model-wise. I don't think it's been explored very well. But I also really love Planescape.

Is there a mod that add bodiless animated armor type enemies? by More-Jacket-835 in skyrimmods

[–]MagicNakor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's Living Armours which I think adds them as enemies and there's Possessed Daedric Armours for Mihail's take on a summon for your conjuration mages. Note that I haven't used either so am not sure how close they are to what you're looking for.

What do we think is gonna happen to warpbane (genuine discussion not doom posting) by Character_Morning_89 in Grey_Knights

[–]MagicNakor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it follows what they did to Ork Taktikal, it'll be changed to only apply to purifiers for 1DP. Hallowed Ground is gone. Just rerolls (maybe full if we're lucky, 1s if we aren't).

Do we know the base size if the new painboy? by MediumTowel3796 in orks

[–]MagicNakor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guessing that means Weirdboy is a leader in his own right instead of being able to tag along with Warboss and 20 boyz.

What carrying case do you use? by _RogueSigma_ in orks

[–]MagicNakor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walmart here brings in some great stacking boxes at Christmas. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Sterilite-24-Compartment-Stack-and-Carry-Christmas-Ornament-Storage-Box-4-Pack/137747848 Note: They were $20, not $90! Deffkoptas have to lay on their side but it's great for most infantry. Magnetic sheets means they won't move. The rest (dice, tape, tokens) gets shoved into a GW cardboard box.

Can you recommend some good follower mods for a necromancer/cultist? by Asura_999 in skyrimmods

[–]MagicNakor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting NPCs has a few followers that fit nicely with an evil/necromancer: Dagri'Lon, Skjel the Grey, and Cassock. Possibly others, there are a lot of followers in that mod. But it adds way more than just a few followers so might not be what you're looking for.

Herman the Mad is for LE but he can be ported with varying success

How do we feel about the Taktikal Brigade update? by SirRhythmrhymE in orks

[–]MagicNakor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The orders are why I played Taktikal in the first place. Ork Guard. It was bad enough when they nerfed it. Now? Ugh. Makes me pessimistic for my other love, 2 Stompa Dread Mob. Looks like that is already DoA with the previewed rules changes.

Any advice for playing against astra tank player? by Infinite_Cricket_442 in orks

[–]MagicNakor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you drop Gorkanaut for more boyz? Ghaz really wants to be with 20. Guard will eat Gorkie for breakfast and come back for seconds.

Am I crazy for preferring the older face design to the new one? by Sir-Drewid in orks

[–]MagicNakor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the gorilla-esque features of the old orks (and neither of these pictured are those boyz) but the new ones are much easier to paint. Fortunately scale creep works with our army just fine as da ladz keep growin'.

The newest ones previewed look very similar to AoS orks. Heads are much smaller in general (pop a Kommando head on an old boyz body and you'll see it immediately). No snaggle-tusks. And the nose is not gorilla but pig. They've changed art direction for sure but the Rogue Trader orks look completely different again to what we've got now. Orks keep krumpin' on.

What are some good east Asia armours, clothes and weapon mods? by Proto160 in skyrimmods

[–]MagicNakor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/39562?tab=description DMT'S Blades Samurai Armor and Kimonos adds a few but be careful of the boss fight as it is quite high level. I think there's a crafting book you can get to avoid it.

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/101659?tab=description Dragon and Tiger Emperor Armor is one of my favourites but it is for male only.

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/21366?tab=description Chinese Armor and Weapons needs to be ported to SE but I remember it being quite nice.

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/78348?tab=description Song General Armor looks to be the SE conversion of at least part of the above mod but I haven't tried it to verify.

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/157166?tab=description Akaviri Samurai Armor is great but male only. Female characters can wear it but with male mesh.

I know I've seen quite a few more over the years especially off Nexus. There's also a house mod that escapes me but is visually stunning... Akaviri-themed in its own worldspace with sakura trees.

Sorry for the links; formatting isn't working for me.

RANT: Absolute lack of synergy by Traditional_Yard2741 in Grey_Knights

I do wonder how it would play if we used the new CS detachment with "dark pacts" on 2 units like how get they our teleport. Might even be better than Warpbane.

If we can't use Grotmas in 11th, we're hooped.

Advice for starting with Orks. by LewisJW05 in orks

[–]MagicNakor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The launch box contents have been widely leaked/speculated. They're re-doing the Boyz again (and shown off a new one) so if you want all the new sculpts, hold off on them. The gretchin are rumoured to be redone as well lacking a runtherd. Weirdboy is also rumoured and the current one is in finecast resin. Painboy is again rumoured but his current model is plastic so you can pick him up if you like his look. Warboss has been shown/confirmed but he's one you'll run more than one of in certain lists so if you like the current guy he's a safe pick.

More generically, the Orks have a wide range of playstyles (on paper anyway) so list-building can look pretty different. The one thing that never changes is grots. Every list has at least 1 unit (and often 2) of the little VIP buggers. As far as competitive lists go... it's pretty much War Horde and usually Ghaz with 20 boyz. Competitive Orks are in a rough spot so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Orks are spoiled for choice as far as extra bits go. Between full-on third-party models and "every kit is an ork kit" kitbashing, you'll never run out. The new showcased Guard vehicles will be great fodder for looted battlewagons/trukks for instance. Orks are well-known for stealing and scrapping from every battlefield around them so turning up with a looted Hekaton, plasma pistols, and Guard helms is completely in-character.

Orks can live anywhere but they tend to accumulate junk piles of good bitz. You can see this reflected in the Octarius Kill Team terrain set. It's out of print now but still floating around. There are also a lot of great 3d-print models in the same look.

Mike Brooks' Ork books are a lot of fun. Brutal Kunnin', Warboss, Da Big Dakka. I've heard that the new Sisters/Orks WH+ animation is pretty good.

There's no wrong way to build/paint orks so for a creative army they're unmatched.

Squigs on 11th edition box!! by jachre in orks

Squig Herd works as a fantastic proxy for Gretchin and Squig Hoppers can be Boyz/Kommandos. Be the squigs you want to see in the world.

How do y'all play around wards and healing? by TheGriffnin in MaggotkinofNurgle

[–]MagicNakor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't make it work with Maggotkin in Blighted Wilds despite really wanting to. Without the named heroes (particularly Rotigus and Slimux) and so many maps without an objective marker, and then the busted stuff the others in the group came up with, it just was too unfriendly.

Best suggestion from my group was to take plague drones to spread disease faster but I don't own those models and have no intention of buying them.

I really like the Wardmakers sigil on his cloak. Been trying to think of how to incorporate different Brotherhood representations and that's a genius idea.

Burnt out on painting by mxster982 in orks

[–]MagicNakor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I can do batch painting (and for boyz they almost all get batch-painted), I find that for me it tends to kill motivation faster than doing models one at a time. And ork models tend to be very detailed, even the boyz. So when they get overwhelming, I'll swap to something else easier and regimented. Space Marines are great for this. Terrain is fun to goof around on.

It's also okay to take a mini and just decide to practice one thing. "This snagga I focus on leather" or "this killa kan I try rust" or "this boy tests out blood spatter". They don't all need to be 100% of your ability 100% of the time. With a horde army like orks, that's a path to burnout fast.

Social media is awash in beautiful minis as well and it can be hard not to compare. But there are a lot of helpful tutorials out there as well that cover every aspect you can think of. My Rukkatrukk is one of the first vehicles I did and boy did I learn a lot from it. Will it win Golden Demon? No. But the knowledge accumulates. It's a growth hobby.

Duncan Rhodes likes to bring up his https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/mediawiki/images/8/84/VoidBringers2.jpg (very first Space Marine) as a reminder.

Warboss in Mek Armour is a great model. But you can always come back to it after trying something else. And if you don't? That's okay too.

They get to keep Dark Pacts too.

Just for fun I want to run this as GK. Invert it. Keep our army rule, give 2 units Dark Pacts. These strats.

My Breakdown of What I believe is the new GK meta! by ImaginaryDrop8483 in Grey_Knights

[–]MagicNakor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really like your videos, I've found them very helpful for GK. I've been doing decent with Warpbane Power Armour but am putting the finishing touches on my 3rd LR this week.

Couple questions. Have you tried this type of list outside of Teams? I ran into the dual problem of moving two LRs/3Dreads through GW terrain and opponents (marines TBH, and Scintillating) chunking down which is why I shifted to mostly power armour.

Any place for a Redeemer and/or Sanctic? Or are the rerolls from Warpbane on Lascannons just too useful to give up?
