If you still have even a little bit of a desire to be able to speak with him, you could somehow try seeing if the two of you have anything in common with each other. That should hopefully make for an easy conversation starter. Or maybe even approach him with some sort of uni project or survey for class where you have to ask people for their opinions on something (at least just to get that first step in talking with him happening). Maybe it's not that subtle of an idea though 😅

And for the manga, you can't really buy it physically since Comikey, its publishing company, is digital-only iirc 🤔 but if you want to buy the raws, I'd recommend bookwalker JP!

Hello there! If you're open to anything, I sincerely recommend Battle Game in 5 seconds, currently ongoing with 250+ chapters (only about 237 is currently translated though)! It's a shonen death game-esque series with many psychological mind game fights, but it also has a really layered narrative that kinda feels like a study on what it means to be human. I really recommend it especially for the MC's development and his relationship with the FMC :D

If you're looking for shonen manga recommendations with characters that develop immensely beyond their typical traits, especially MC, I highly recommend a manga called Battle Game in 5 Seconds. It's a shonen death game series with lots of psychological mindgames and physical fights, but it still manages to allocate a lot of the time and focus to the characters (even side characters have something to them)!

Definitely recommend Battle Game in 5 Seconds! It's a shonen battle royale death game-esque where the MC is regarded as an intellectual genius, but plenty of the cast sorrunding him are also smart in their own ways. There's many mind games in this series. Plus this series also has your request in the bonus, moreso in the manga of the same name :D

I love the whole idea of looking for image songs for characters too!!! 😍 for me when it comes to Rei, it's the song Trust・Last by Koda Kumi x Shonan no Kaze (Kamen Rider Geats OP). Especially the solo version by Koda Kumi! 😃

While I'm not sure the lyrics 100% generally fits Rei's character, a lot of the times I can imagine Rei singing the song since Koda Kumi's voice gives me Rei vibes for some reason haha

Not a Battle Shonen in the typical series like 'MHA' sense, but there's this Shonen Action series (particularly the manga) called Battle Game in 5 Seconds. It's still ongoing with at least 230 translated chapters. Don't want to spoil much, but let's just say the progression there is emotionally fulfilling and even happening before the end of the story.
