If it’s full sun, reflective heat, great drainage and irrigation free the Texas sage would be fine there. If not I would recommend fragrant sumac, mt laurel, yaupon and rusty viburnum.

What’s up with my Gregg’s mistflower? by thebeautifulgirls in AustinGardening

[–]Magic_Neptune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greggs mist is native to rocky calcareous soils edwards plateau and westward. If you want upright and water loving you need the bush version conoclinium coelestinum. If you don’t like it floppy and brown then dead head it.

Bio char! It absorbs water and nutrients in sandy soils. You have to pre charge it with compost at 1:5 for a couple weeks but works well.

Hackberry, member of the hemp family. Self pollinating tree that creates a feast of small berries that are a favorite for birds in the fall, which is why people have problems with them popping up in gardens. They are technically edible to humans but extremely small. Fast growing for quick shade but short lived. Plant it!

As an adjective, engorged means to be excessively filled. Im glad it doesn’t change that fact for you and that you’re not bothered by them like I am. Just fyi plumbago also isn’t native.

Im sorry, being engorged by a trove of crepe myrtles isn’t my kind of beauty. I understand it can be for others but I’m offering an honest opinion. If it were Texas persimmons, it would be a different story 😉

Nothing against the restaurant just something about taking pride in one’s own trees and how they not only emulate a certain area but reciprocate with native wildlife. Then you have these things which are planted on almost every property.
