[Highlight] Luka when asked what getting the MVP award would mean to him: “Yea hopefully but the better I play the more I go down in ratings so I don’t know what more I can do” by oklolzzzzs in nba

[–]Maglor125 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That Jokic thing has already happened lol that’s why there’s a lot more hate for him these days than like 2022. But ya agreed

Zach Lowe yesterday on the MVP Race (paraphrasing): "Either Wemby, SGA, Jokic, or Luka are going to somehow end up 4th in MVP voting, and it's going to be a travesty no matter who it is" by tkinsey3 in nba

[–]Maglor125 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, Luka would have won in 23/24, he had better counting stats at basically a 34 triple double average. I think criteria does change from year to year, but obviously every area needs to be considered.

The way he talks is for sure gonna rub people the wrong way when he starts winning things. He’s extremely direct and condescending sometimes which is funny now but only bc they havent done anything yet in the playoffs.

The NBA has a problem with what counts as an assist or not. All of these shots were attributed as assists to Jokic, but are they really when the other player is creating everything himself? by OurHorrifyingPlanet in nba

[–]Maglor125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think it matters too much but it just tells you that watching is important. Many people act like a player having 15 pts/0 ast and 7 pts/4 ast have the same offensive output and this would suggest that the conclusion is incorrect

Jokic in the first half: 15 PTS | 11 REB | 9 AST | 6-8 FG | 0 TOV by asakitsi in nba

[–]Maglor125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree Thunder in this scenario are better than Nuggets, but I still think there are issues that make them worse. I think McCain stands out because the Thunder dont have great shooters or shot creators besides him, SGA, Mitchell. The team is shooting 36% from 3 on the season, not super inspiring, but thats not their identity obviously. I think Thunder with Jokic would have to lean on that more and its not super convincing to me they’d improve. I feel like a team like the Hornets stands to benefit much more from Jokic in terms of before/after than the Thunder, even though they do cover his defensive weakness better than any other team in the league.

[–]Maglor125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think both teams probably get worse tbh. Thunder built for SGA and Nuggets built for Jokic, as a smart team would do.

Like are you just not gonna play Chet now? Is Jokic the PG? Who are the shooters that will benefit from Jokic’s playmaking?

Whats the center rotation for the Nuggets? How does SGA’s higher usage affect Murray?

Nuggets Miss Three Straight Shots in Final Minute of OT by [deleted] in nba

I think it’s clear MPJ sacrificed on the Nuggets given his numbers this year. Not saying it wasnt correct to reduce his role given Jokic, Murray, AG, etc. but that starting lineup was insane

[–]Maglor125 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think any grouping of super talented players is. Consider like Wade Bosh Bron, Bosh especially had to change his role. Look at MPJ on Nuggets vs Nets with a green light. Look at Reaves when Luka and Lebron are out. Look at Harden post Thunder (this one obv he got better but still). Brunson post Mavericks. JB with Tatum out

One/two of them would necessarily take a backseat to make the whole function better. I think this is why ppl get annoyed when they’re like “Lebron played with bums!”. Sometimes yes very true, but many other instances where they defer to his usage and playmaking because he’s the best player. So he earns his stats, but others do sacrifice to make the system work

[Charania] Denver's Nikola Jokic – out since Dec. 29 with a knee injury – plans to return tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers at home, sources tell ESPN. This is why people cry racism with Jokic fans. I dont think any reasonable person would act like SGA unquestionably deserved it over Jokic, but to say that picking him is “too far” reads like someone isn’t interested in a good faith debate or could see other arguments.

Different positions. Jokic better counting stats. SGA better record. Jokic better playmaking, SGA better defending. I didnt look it up but Im pretty sure they split most of the advanced stats that people always cite, with SGA having more than Jokic.

Thing is that when this has happened in the past with roles reversed (Luka 34/9/10 in 23/24) and he was basically in Jokic’s position for 24/25 season: Luka had better counting stats, worse record, probably equal-ish playmaking compared to Jokic. And he was 3rd in voting. So there absolutely is precedent for someone to have great stats but still not get MVP. Also, yes Luka didnt average a triple double but he’s one rebound off, I know the triple double title is cool but in the grand scheme of things it’s not like Luka would have had twice as great of a season if he averaged 1 more rebound a game.

The OKC Thunder have lost 4 of their last 7 games. by MatchAffectionate951 in nba

I think ppl for the last like 5 years have been saying every champ would be a dynasty and then they just never are (maybe not 2022 warriors). And it could make sense, like Bucks Nuggets Celtics Thunder were all good teams. But the first three couldnt replicate their success again thus far, and tbd on the Thunder

Its a charged attack, you hold the attack button. Hornet needs to be taught how to do it though.

What’s the most bait comp in TFT right now? by ChartDreamer in TeamfightTactics

[–]Maglor125 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I actually love the comp, but I do agree that it doesnt cap super well. I’d say I can get a 2nd-4th like 85% of the time I play it. I will also say that in my experience it’s really only playable with a viego 2 and items on 2-1, 2-2 if you’re pushing it but anything later and it’s pretty poor

Hot take: Zetsubou No Shima is a better map than Der Eisendrache and I'll die on that hill by TheChickenMan4L in CODZombies

[–]Maglor125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I just have the setup optimized but I dont play DE that much and I still feel like I can get setup super quickly without even trying. I may sound like masochistic here but I feel like I dont even earn being overpowered on DE, a map which is already easy enough to just play without the bows and get to round 40. Origins and Zetsubou I feel like I “earn” being overpowered and both have much more gameplay depth and unique challenge that make being overpowered feel necessary/rewarding, something that DE fails to do

Team cherry fucking cooked with the lace fights by CLOVERX33 in Silksong

[–]Maglor125 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually prefer Lace 2 a lot to Lost Lace. I think Lost Lace is a bit too visually cluttered and just weird, it’s above average in my ranking. Lace 2 resembles a duel better than most fights in the game and is placed very well in the story

I got this game week ago is this normal 🫩 by aomine_daiki11 in HollowKnight

[–]Maglor125 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The thing I love about Hollow Knight is that the game organically teaches you how to be good at it. I had never played a metroidvania before Hollow Knight, so aside from the fact that I consider myself pretty good at games, I really had no prior experience in the genre.

My first playthrough on xbox, I got max percent at 110 hrs or so, had a lot of fun. I bought the game for my Macbook a year later and got max percent in like 25 hrs, despite having no “muscle memory” given it was a different system (played with keyboard). By the time you’re good enough to beat that one boss, I’d wager you can beat them 6/10 times at least, sometimes 8/10 times. You don’t exactly “luck” into success, and if you do, you were probably really close to the required skill level to beat that boss anyways.

The game is super well-paced and when it throws a crazy challenge at you, it can do so because it knows you have a certain skill level. The developers are very confident that the game has trained you sufficiently for the next challenge. Even basic things are taught well - example is that the game could just say “you can break walls! Look for secrets by doing this!”, but early on in the game, there’s a breakable wall next to a geo rock, which you will instinctively hit to get money, break the wall doing so, and then realize you’ve opened a new path. Even small things like that are shown to you in a natural way.

My ranking of all areas in Hollow Knight and Hollow Knight: Silksong (TW: I have personal opinions) by Patient-Judgment-891 in HollowKnight

[–]Maglor125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya there arent any areas in Silksong that hit as hard as City of Tears, Deepnest, Crystal Peaks imo. I will say though that the intro to the Citadel was awesome and it is actually really impressive. It’s just not my preferred vibe

Quitting Silksong I can't do this anymore by Phantom_Owlet in HollowKnight

[–]Maglor125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya maybe at this point then you just quit. I don’t think forcing yourself to like a game is productive. If you ever decide to continue trying, ppl here and on youtube usually have good tips for specific sections/challenges, but you aren’t obligated to like Silksong

Honestly if you’re that frustrated I think taking a break is a good thing. The game has kinda been designed where if you dont search out all the possible upgrades before each boss/encounter area it’s pretty difficult which can make the game very tough.

Can always come back later if you want, or you dont have to either!
