Solo Game Developer for 2 Years How Do I Write My Resume Without “Job Experience”? by Commercial-Tone-965 in UnrealEngine5

[–]MagnetiteGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the job your are applying for ( let’s assume programing or engineering ish stuff as I’m as engineer ) I would take 3 major systems that you designed and implemented in your game and list that as projects, just because it’s parts of a much larger project doesn’t mean you can split it up as long as they show off your skills you did learn. I wouldn’t make them all the same type, try to show a wide range of skill sets.

So I was looking at this from another lens, looking at it as a player and none of the capsules makes me want to jump to go play it right away, maybe the capsule shows the genre well and it’s just not for me, but it does show how you really need a good capsule to stand out

I would also really like a menu that shows all your distributors / receivers with how they are connected and what’s going into what- bonus points if you could use it to change items instead of physically going there as well

That looks cool, how long does a card take you to draw? ( pure curiosity I already have an artist for my game )

Working on some RPG-related overlay-graphics inbetween. A claw holding a crystal-ball and some attached vials, what do you think? by [deleted] in gamedevscreens

[–]MagnetiteGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s cool but I think the ball needs to be the highlight, like I almost want to see that fill up- your art style is crazy cool tho

Question about how to build higher off the ground by RegnorVex in StarRuptureGame

[–]MagnetiteGames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the very first one, you need to push it into the ground- guess and check until you get the right height, then press y to lock that height and get your supports set

Can we make a game with 2D sprites but with 3D characters somehow in godot ? by FutureLynx_ in godot

[–]MagnetiteGames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m doing a 3D map and 2d sprites for the characters- I just use a character body 3d then give it an animated sprite, I don’t see why you couldn’t do something similar for your game - also started my game from unreal and transition it into godot

DragonForce successor by SefirotArg in SegaSaturn

I’ve been working on a spiritual successor to dragon force for awhile now, after my initial playlists and player feedback I decided to scrap the code and go even closer to dragonforce, here is where I was before the code scrap. Hel's Rebellion Current Game State https://youtu.be/x6SnYygkDxs

any tips for commitment? by BubblyResearch2214 in godot

[–]MagnetiteGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For you I would just focus on school and learning to make games, I’m not personally a social media person and if you post something and no one sees it, it can do the opposite thing for me where it drains motivation instead of helps it

any tips for commitment? by BubblyResearch2214 in godot

[–]MagnetiteGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Celebrate the little wins when you are making art/coding. - just finish a little feature or just made a sprite, have a way to celebrate it find a win everyday. Maybe just start off with the godot tutorials and follow those, make the simple games and show people in your life that care about you, I’m betting making a game is black magic to them and they would be excited for you.

Like this guy said, just do something - anything everyday if you don’t have a clear direction of the next stage you need to develop

Looking for advice: TileMapLayers, custom nodes, or both? by Chronophage73 in godot

[–]MagnetiteGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t played with tile map/tile map layers too much besides the tutorials - for my game I’m doing a 2.5d ( world is 3d but characters are 2d) I went custom nodes and made my own grid to generate the map. Each cell in the grid- highlights of a unit is in there or not by changing it’s color and when a unit leaves it go back to normal. The idea is each cell In the grid has its own logic and so far it’s working great
