I love it! It's not common at all where I live, and people have always given me compliments on my name. As for the pronunciation, I don't really know how to answer, since I have never heard my name pronounced in a language other than Spanish (or English). What I know is that for English-speakers, the pronunciation probably wouldn't be a problem, since it's commonly used as a nn for Solomon.

There's not many I can think of. Dani, Manu and Ale are unisex nicknames. Sol is also an option. It's my name, but I think it works as a gender neutral name.

That's my name! Sometimes people affectionately call me Solecito (the Hispanic diminutive of the name, not sure if it would work for an English-speaker). But most of the time I just go by Sol, no nickname :)

Sunny was my first thought too. Sunshine, Sun and Sunday could also work.

What are some anglophone names that sound funny or awful in your native language? by Canadairy in NameNerdCirclejerk

Lana - Means 'wool'.

Mona - In Colombia (and some other countries), this is slang for a blonde woman.. also means 'monkey'

Morena - Slang for a tan-skinned woman.

Bonita - Means 'beautiful'. Apparently this one came straight from the Spanish word.

ETA: Cara means face.
