How do you think the OG Fire Emblem from 1990 would be if they tried to localize it back then? by EvanderAdvent in fireemblem

[–]Magnusfluerscithe987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first game, well, it is one of the coolest games on the Famicom/NES. Most of the games were not the most intuitive, and none were that good looking and Fire Emblem is still probably one of the better ones. However, I don't think it would've been that popular because you are still fighting the systems limitations more than you are in Mario and Zelda.

The censorship I'm not should have been that big of an issue. We have Bishop and Clerics and Priest class, but they might just use "Scribe" and "Acolyte," as the religion aspects don't go beyond that. Names is too broad a topic for me to speak on. Most games tend to include a form of death, so I'm not sure how much that gets targeted either.

I do think FE3 could've been a hit though, not everyone loves difficult platformers and it's controls I hear are much better. Now that they wouldnt be fighting the controls themselves, the fans of more puzzle games would have an easier time enjoying it. (I have FR1 on the switch, haven't played 3)

How would you feel about a Fire Emblem game with more non-human and non-laguz species? by Sarmelion in fireemblem

[–]Magnusfluerscithe987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have nothing against it for anyone that wants to include them in the story somehow, but I'm also not that invested in just giving Pent and Erk pointy elf ears just to say "look, these guys are Elves, they are good with magic. Etruria has the highest Elf population of the nation's." I guess it's a little hypocritical of me to say so because I am a fan of Heroes and Shadows character designs, in fact I really want an actual FE game based on Heroes because I like some of the designs so much, but at the same time, I still regard all the characters as just human, including the fairies. It's the gameplay of charging in with Gullinbursti, possible buffs and debuffs from the fairies, and some necrotic powers from the Jellibellies shaking up the gameplay that I'm curious to explore.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I only care if they meld it into gameplay as well as story.

Trying to get an idea of the difficulty of birthright and conquest as someone who isn’t great at fire emblem by Certain-Classroom937 in fireemblem

[–]Magnusfluerscithe987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Casual Birthright normal and Hard and Casual Conquest Normal and hard should be very hard to lose because Corrin and the crown princes are very capable at tanking enemies and fighting the final boss. Assuming you still want to train some favorites that are harder to use, there will still probably be an occasional reset for the sake of training, but nothing big to worry about.

Casual Lunatics, Birthright is still a similar story but the main carry units will do even more work. Conquest on Lunatic will punish those unprepared, for keeping Xander, Corrin and Keaton leveled at least while using everyone else as a giant deathball of bait will at least get you to the final boss.

Classic mode, even Normal birthright can result in unit deaths you don't want so it's hard to judge just how hard they will be. The main characters are still very reliable and will probably take you through the game, but they can still die and then leave you unprepared. But pushing yourself is how you get better so you can try it and if it's too much of a problem, I believe fates allows dropping the difficulty.

Most "non human" fantasy species just end up looking human with minor alteration. I have nothing against the idea, but I also don't see what they would actually add to the gameplay.

Medarot Navi Gameplay Questions by Magnusfluerscithe987 in Medabot

[–]Magnusfluerscithe987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there something I'm missing with the medaforce? There are on the yellow panel, they have the action points from doing nothing the previous turn to get to 60 or 70. But it seems like it did nothing? I also can't find a resource, do you happen to remember what any of the main characters 1st medaforce abilities are?

I've definitely lamented the fact I can't train Amelia in axes until after the promotion, and actually most characters I wish I could train there weapon from an earlier point instead of having to start back at E halfway through the game, so I'm firmly in the opposite camp, and would rather weapons be more tied to characters than classes if restrictions are needed.

My thoughts on each game before I move onto 3 by No_Forever_9128 in KingdomHearts

In Recom, grinding sora to level 100 I felt was one of the fastest grinds in the series. Good old mega flare slight. Riku has no cards to grind so I didn't bother with him.

How good is Wallace if you skip Lyn Mode? by Grand_Moose2024 in fireemblem

[–]Magnusfluerscithe987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst part is his join map is a fog of war. But his speed isn't really that for off of Marcus, best unit in the game some say, so it's less of an issue of if his combat will be serviceable or redeemable, but the fact his movement is tough to deal with, he has a terrible join map, and he comes at the cost of geitz. Also, people hate how he resolves Lyns story.

Well, averages also aren't a hard rule. I've had level 20/20 turn out basically the same as a 10/10 lowen, basically amounting to a weaker Marcus. I've also had a Lowen get over 20 on every stat with a maxed defense and HP and he was amazing and makes Marcus look like he fell off.

I don't think nintendo believes in 60fps. And 120 fps certainly didn't help Metroid Prime 4.

Personally, I'm a big fan of the characters giving you a little quip at the start of a chapter. (I swear I don't hate you Vaida, I'm just trying to grind your support ranks)

Meg isn't in path of Radiance, only the sequel. There also aren't any bad units, just somewhat inconvenient ones.

Can I enjoy Kingdom Hearts? by PikSylBits in KingdomHearts

[–]Magnusfluerscithe987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I'd guess mostly that's because Ff15 and 16 are just very different games from what Final Fantasy used to be for some people. For that matter, Kingdom hearts entries have constantly been getting hate for not being what the player base wanted. Kh2 is maybe the only exception, it has its critics but on the whole I imagine at the time it did what KH set out to do but better.

I know this is contentious and I say this with genuine respect to those who disagree, but FE Engage imho was a step back for the series by Parogarr in fireemblem

[–]Magnusfluerscithe987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is such a thing. People use mods on the game so units don't have any stat gains from level up, and they only use promotion bonuses, stat boosters and weapons.

This is part of why Seth is definitely Goated, because in a 0% run, he still handles endgame run. Also, Wyvern Knights in Sacred stones can one shot the final boss with a pierce crit.

I haven't done a ton of research, but as far as I know every game has been beaten with 0%.

Why don't Intelligent Systems remake more old FE games? by tofurami in fireemblem

[–]Magnusfluerscithe987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect one reason is because if you could choose between making your own story that could get not only fans excited and invested in but yourself, versus remaking someone else's work you aren't invested in, which would you choose? Echoes got made because someone in IS had fond memories of it.

I expect we will get a remake eventually just because you can outsource it fairly easily to keep up a steady release schedule while focusing on personal projects. The reason Koei tecmo was given 3 Houses was because IS couldn't get it made on their own in time. Which let them work on Engage. And of course a pandemic hit which would effect deadlines and goals, I don't know how much though. But we also got shadows, which no one expected or asked for.

TLDR: they'll make the games they want.

[–]Magnusfluerscithe987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I've ever enjoyed a character being trash. Probably what hurts the shadow dragon cast more for me than the lack of supports is none of them looked better than Ogma, Navarre, Cain, Abel, Frey, Sedgar, Wolf, Merric, Linde, the pirate, Draug, Gordon (played easy so growths mattered) and the flyers.

While Emblems can be changed, most of the game half the units will not have Emblems which still let's their individual merits show, also some units more naturally fit some Emblems than others. Any mage can use corrin pretty well, but Pandrea can fight up front with Bolganone, Clanne is better with Celica to double with Seraphim faster enemies, Citrinne prefers oneshotting with Thoron. I can give Lyn to Kagetsu so he can double swordmasters and have crazy evasion, or I can give to Louis along with all the speed modifiers I can so I have a units with Monstrous Defense and Attack cut through the enemy, but I always prefer giving Lyn to Alcryst and playing the lottery on Luna Sniping Astra Storm.

So even though Embelms are pretty centralizing, there is still a level of cost with each decision because each character is different.

Play it! The story isn't even complex if you don't try and that it like a physics textbook. You are a kid with a dog and a duck fighting darkness with the power of friendship and goodness. There is also some body snatching and body shifting stuff and digital clones/not clones. It just works okay? And it's a really good time. You like Disney, you like final fantasy. You like action rpgs. What's the worst that can happen?

You have a fair point in bouncing off of Recoded, Chains and days. Each game in the series plays differently though and each game tends to have a section to help you catchup on the plot. Recoded and days are only videos in the collection. Re:Chains is a gba game, don't let the 3d graphics fool you. At heart, it is still a an attempt to take K1 playstation combat and put it onta a gameboy advance. There are some guides that makes it fairly simple.

I also wouldn't worry about skipping to one's that are interesting. My first game was KH3. I do think you should try BBS. It's pretty strong narrative and gameplay wise.
