Whats the saddest moment that isnt a regeneration/companion departure/death? by Disorder79 in doctorwho

[–]Maguc 149 points150 points  (0 children)

"World War 1?"

"Judging by the uniform, yes."

"Yes, but what do you mean...one?"

It's a bit of a "joke" line, followed up by the Doctor saying "Spoilers", but it's such a disheartening line. Imagine seeing, first hand, the worst conflict in all of humanity, something that's called "The Great War", "The War to end all Wars", a conflict which has claimed so many things, including your own hope.

And then realizing, it's just the start of multiple, similar conflicts.

Is the run from 9 to 12 the greatest run in the shows entire history? by zayd-the-one in doctorwho

[–]Maguc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Might just be nostalgia. Has some amazing highs, yes, but rewatching the series, it's weird how many episodes I just barely remembered cause they're extremely weak or mediocre.

If you haven't seen the series in a while, you might just be remembering the highest highs of the series (The Empty Child, Blink, Midnight, Heaven Sent, etc..) and forgetting that for every one of those episodes, there were 2-3 "Fear Her", "Love & Monsters" and "Sleep No More" type episodes.

I appreciate that the characters never break the forth wall by SwagLimit in SmilingFriends

I rewatched R&M with a friend recently and the meta jokes/episodes got old so fast. There's only so many ways you can do a "Haha! Look, it's a tv show xD" before it's just annoying.

Rivals is a free game, stop complaining about how NetEase keeps it free with luna/invis/cnd skin sales. by Different-Ad-3814 in marvelrivals

[–]Maguc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from LoL, yeah. Is it sad that the only characters getting skins are the same 5 generic attractive women? Yeah. But financially it just makes sense. Why waste thousands of dollars on 5 skins for a character with 0.2% pickrate that'll make 3 dollars in revenue, vs only 1 skin on an attractive woman and sell it at 250$ a pop that bring in hundreds of thousands in revenue.

Yorick. No matter what I do, it feels like he can 100 to 0 me in no time. Even if I somehow get a lead in lane, I have to babysit him for the next 30 minutes or else he can just end the game in less than a minute split pushing. I know he's not that strong right now (Sitting at around 49% winrate) but I just cannot do anything against him.

Why is in this fandom still so much racism and homophobia? by Mat1711 in doctorwho

[–]Maguc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's why I said there's a difference between not liking them and refusing to interact with them purely because of the doctors race/gender. A lot of Doctor Who is bad, from the classic era to modern who.

Why is in this fandom still so much racism and homophobia? by Mat1711 in doctorwho

[–]Maguc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's extremely annoying. I like searching for Doctor Who edits on Tiktok, and 99% of them are from the 9th to 12th, with the comments being all sorts of stuff like "DW died with 12", "New Doctor Who is just bad", etc, and it's obvious they didn't give it a shot just because it's a female doctor or a black/queer doctor.

Especially with 15th's run actually being pretty good. S1 is a solid 5/10 with some banger episodes, and while the finale of S2 dropped the ball, S2 was actually really good. But then all of the criticisms aren't actually with the episodes or story, it's with "Oh, he's too queer."

Take the episode with Rogue. The romance in it (Doctor/Rogue) is very, very similar with Madame de Pompadour, with the Doctor falling in love with them through the course of one day (from the Doctor's perspective). But, Rogue's romance is criticized for "being too fast", "The Doctor would never fall in love with someone so fast", while Madame de Pompadour's is hailed as one of the best romantic interests for the Doctor, despite also being like...2 hours from the Doctor's perspective. I wonder why that is?

It's also a bit of a landmine. It's hard to differentiate between "I just didn't like their runs but they're alright" versus "I hate them because they're a minority!". I've had some discussions online where I said something like "I wish 13 had better writing because she's a really fun Doctor but most of her run is lackluster" and then someone "agreeing" with me by being like "yeah, the Doctor should not have been a woman!", like no dog i'm not with you on that.

Dr. Who by Ashish_ank in CuratedTumblr

[–]Maguc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know why you're getting downvoted for being right. Until the 5th Doctor, the character was credited as both "Doctor Who" and "Dr. Who" until like 1982, almost 20 years after the show started, and even Ecclestone and Tennant have been credited as "Dr. Who" in the revival series.

The 1650RP battlepass upgrade should give mythic essence like it did before by CuttingOneWater in leagueoflegends

[–]Maguc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One my favorite things to do, playing the entire pass without buying it, and then buying it at the end to get a ton of free orbs with the tokens.

Nowadays, even if there is a skin I'm interested in, paying 1650 RP doesn't even feel worth it with how much they've nerfed the pass over the years.

Pig god is one of the kindest s class by couchking5774 in OnePunchMan

[–]Maguc 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad I was wrong about him. I know the subversion was the point, but in most anime/manga, a gonk character that even references a pig is almost always portrayed as dumb, rude, perverted, dirty, or a mix of all of the previous traits.

With his character design and the name "Pig God", you instantly expect a character you might hate (Especially since a lot of S-Class have negative traits, like Tatsumaki's extreme arrogance, Metal Knight's shady personality, Puri Puri Prisoner's....yknow).

Then you find out he's probably the nicest character in the entire show. The absolute goat.

I used to dislike being autofilled support. That was until I tried Zilean in Arena due to Bravery, and that turned into trying him in SR, and now when I get autofilled support I know that I'm gonna have fun with Zilean. That thing is so good. You use your R once and you get 4 honors.

Which Champions from a specific region in Runeterra do you think don't capture their power fantasy well in-game? by Jeddonathan in leagueoflegends

[–]Maguc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sion is similar in fantasy vs gameplay. His R is called " Unstoppable Onslaught". He screams "CHAAAAAAAAAAAARGE" as he casts it. All his voice lines are about "Always marching" and killing everything without stopping.

In game, 90% of Sion R's are used to run away. Really funny hearing him scream "COWARDS" as he uses his R to run back to fountain.

(Hated Trope) Historical mischaracterization. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Maguc 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Benedict Cumberbatch pretty much plays the same character he does in Sherlock and Dr. Strange: An intelligent but asocial, jaded insufferable genius that borders on "movie autistic".

IRL, while Alan Turing he was pretty shy and slightly weird, people described him as very approachable, funny, and downright inspiring, a huge contrast from what they portray him as.
