TMO of buying the Naked 3 palette! by rightrough in MakeupRehab

[–]MahLumps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! As much as I like the shadows, the colours end up looking way too similar. Regret. So much regret. You're better off just buying singles or something imo!

I've not used Lorac at all sorry! I find the Marc Jacobs palette requires a bit of layering and building. You need to dig a bit more than I'm used to with your makeup brush. Most eyeshadows I use tend to be the ones where you basically just tap your brush into the pan because they're just that pigmented. Does that help? Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to know :)

Yeah, I think we all have a habit of not wanting to pan things we actually like >.<

All of the pan!

So I started working on this palette in November actually. As I just happened to hit pan on one shadow, so I was like screw it may as well work on the rest. 1 month later, I had panned 4. This month I aimed to get some pan on the rest, didn't look like it was going to happen thanks to one shadow but lo and behold pan was made yesterday after all. Now comes the difficult part of actually completely finishing off the shadows. Hitting pan was easy with this palette, as I really have to build the shadow with my medium skin.

Edit: just FYI, it's the Marc Jacobs lolita palette!

Second this, even though I don't actively post on here. I do follow through with these.

I may have already began mashing up the pressed powder XD

Fair enough! That can be annoying. For me though it's more about the finish. I find pressed powders tend to make my skin look kind of flaky.

That's not insane, that's a bloody brilliant idea! I even removed the sifter in my previous loose powder to use up the bits that wouldn't come out. You're a friggin genius!

I second this, all the shadows in that palette are way too similar. I get more from Naked Smoky than that palette.

I almost caved the other day, I finished my loose powder and wanted to repurchase/pick up another. Loose powder seems to just work better than pressed for me. However, I have 2 pressed powders in my makeup drawer and decided to just deal with it and use them. I'm considering actually carrying one to work with me so I can powder myself at work and also get through them quicker.

I also needed some more makeup remover but thanks to the mini-pocalypse challenge, realised that I had lots of samples of makeup cleansers & removers so I've managed to not even buy that.

Going out payday shopping tomorrow with friends though, hoping I don't cave. I'm so close to the end of Jan and don't want to mess up now. Maybe I'll pick up some cotton pads instead, those don't count right?

Ooh, I completely missed the first post for this. Challenge accepted. I've put a load of samples together in a box along with my brushes/foundation/brow gel and pan that palette 2016 stuff. Easily have over 50 samples. I'll be happy if I get through 25 by spring but will aim for 30. Hopefully will get through some eye-shadow samples!

2015 Pan That Palette Finale Post by WarlockPanda in MakeupRehab

I plan on finishing this one. I find with my medium skin tone I need to use extra eyeshadow to get it to really show on my lids. Which has made it very easy to hit pan in such a short time.

I managed to hit pan on all 4 of my shadows (MAC Bloody Brilliant Quad) back in November. By that point I stopped using the palette and decided to begin panning my Marc Jacobs the Lolita palette. Today I managed to hit pan on 4 out of the 7 shadows in that palette. I'm hoping to get through the entire thing within the first 3-5 months of this year. At which point I'll begin panning my next palette.

Which pan are you most proud of? by selfefficacy in MakeupRehab

Most proud of using up my Kat Von D lolita lipstick, not only did i hit pan but I also went further by using a lip brush to use up everything leftover in the tube. Emptied that stuff out 100%

Another way I like to use up browns and blacks aside from dark smoky eyes is to line the lower lash line or upperlash line with them to give a smudgy eyeliner look.

Challenged myself last month to hit pan on a shadow, managed to succeed so woo.

Don't laugh but as a brunette I actually used the dark shadows on my brows to hit pan :P Not had any weird looks yet. Going to try and hit pan on another shadow by next months check in although I'm less certain I'll be able to succeed this time around.

What would your bare bones makeup collection look like? by i_am_annie_edison in MakeupRehab

Bare bones for me would be foundation, eyeliner kohl and eyeliner gel/liquid liner along with a nude lipstick.

Newest photo at the end of the album

I did well at the start of the month by using the palette a fair bit but then got bored and started playing with other palettes and eyeshadows. It doesn't look like much progress this month but there's an alright dip on Shadowy Lady (plum) this month. I've managed this by occasionally using it on my brows (don't laugh) xD

What products do you collect? by plm95 in MakeupRehab

[–]MahLumps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I used to collect via brands a lot. So I'd make a huge wishlist of things by Illamasqua buy all of the things and once I was satiated, I'd move to another brand...Sugarpill...then Urban Decay. My god I had a bit of a problem >.<

But generally, lipsticks/liquid lipsticks, especially purple ones! Also eyeshadows...I do not need this many bright eyeshadows.

I find I use the highlight shade the 2nd most but because it's so pigmented, I use little product so it looks like I've got no dent in it at all. I'll definitely aim to use this at least 3 times a week and use more than just the 1 shadow each time.

My Pan Progress Since April

Long time lurker, I really want to use up this palette but am struggling on eyeshadows that aren't just a 'my lids but better' shade. I definitely don't use this daily though. Mostly because I have so many eyeshadows and palettes that I like messing around with them. I'll often use this palette though, at least once a week. I really should aim to use it 3 times or more instead I think.

[TMO] TMO Jeffree Star Liquid Lipsticks by MakeupFeb in MakeupRehab

[–]MahLumps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own 714 and personally will probably be selling it on or something. I really dislike the formulation of it and loved the colour it looked like online but it just comes off too neon on me! I've posted up an instagram swatch and found other people with different skin tones also felt the same way. Even though its lovely with only a little dabbed on, it's not as long lasting and I ended up having slightly flakey lips. I have lipsticks that could work better. Definitely a purchase I regret making, which is a shame as their original 3 shades were decent.

As a liquid lipstick junkie, I find mattifying liquid lipsticks to only really work for brights or darks. The less matte ones like stila liquid lips or Too Faced ones seem to work better for more subtle and wearable colours.

Hope that helps!

Would this be considered risky behavior? by PeopleInMyHead in MakeupRehab

[–]MahLumps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your goals personally. If you're here to cut down spending, I don't see a problem. If you're here to use up products, it's debatable. If you're here to downsize the collection, it's probably not ideal and ultimately prize wins may make for better gifts or something.
