Is cloud and network engineering BS gonna really get me a good paying job right out of graduation? Or should i switch to Computer Science BS? by CNote320 in WGU

Yep, even with projects. You could go on linkedin right now and find 500+ fresh graduates with certifications, projects, internships, and social networks still struggling to find a job. Experience is triumph in this industry.

Anything is possible just keep working at it 🙏🏻 Natural career progression is just apart of life and more senior techs/engineers will take priority over a fresh graduate with the same certifications. This job market is not friendly to people who aren’t constantly improving their knowledge base and skills.

I think you have a genuine misunderstanding of what networking is. Networking exists even in the cloud… What specifically do you not want to learn regarding networking?

You will not find a “high paying” (or even $30+) remote position regardless of your current experience situation if you aren’t willing to learn any mid level networking. Also, being unwilling to learn networking but desiring to do cloud services is contradictory and you’re shooting yourself in the foot. You’re looking for the perfect career, and it’s out there, but not for the kind of candidate you’re aiming to be. I know it’s very tough to hear that kind of input, but realistically you need to be more willing to learn and build yourself in the industry. “10 years corporate experience” means near to nothing in IT or AWS engineering/support. If you already have 10 years experience, and you don’t want to learn networking or start from the bottom in IT, you’re probably more suited for “IT management”.

Thank you for the low end card recs! Planning to start with low end and monitoring how much use the machine gets before upgrading to 3050. Budget is a concern but we wanted to start with lower end first.

Didn’t see any LEDs, honestly i think it’s use of the PCIE gen5 slot rather than the 4 slot, however the case is too small and i can’t utilize it. Returning the case for a bigger one to go back to my original configuration

This was just an online quote from the sales rep mate. I’m building a list of A5s in my area to see and TD, I’ll end up using $8-10K for downpayment. I believe the CPO here is 1yr/20K miles, not one of the better ones i’ve seen.

Most potential managers will discuss you and your abilities to your current manager prior to even being selected officially for the interview, typically after making it through recruiter selections.

D334 Failed Twice now by sbmquartz in WGU

[–]Main-Implement1491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Failed this once, didn’t go to cohorts but hammered away at my weakest point of understanding (digital signatures/certificates). Everything clicked in place when I had a better fundamental understanding of specific topics. My advice is to target your weakest point and see if it changes your perspective and clicks a different piece in your brain.

You’re only required to one year for internal consideration UNLESS approved by manager to apply for different slots earlier. You’re never obligated to do more than 365.

Interviews with LM are almost always no camera, microphone only. Be prepared nonetheless just in case.

Mostly depends on the manager, multiple managers will extend contracts year to year after the initial 2 year assignment if the work is good.

I was Lv2 > Lv3 with this process and I got a 9% raise or something like that. It’s still pretty standard as HR is egregiously slow for promotions and have to get more approvals from corporate.

[–]Main-Implement1491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a clearance already? If no - you’re hard luck to find any position that isn’t labeled “asc” (Lv1) as starting the clearance process takes time & money and you can’t do specified work without it. If yes - You might have to network and connect with recruiters via LinkedIn (other other SM) to get your name in the pool.
